My husband and dog stayed for 2 months. We picked the property because of its location and fenced in front yard. We also had family stay on the pull-out couch intermittently during our stay.
First the pros:
Very charming and great location 2 blocks from a dog beach and 3/4 mile from a dog park and Higgs Beach. 2 blocks from Duval St. Everything is walkable but my preferred way of getting around was by bike. The area is fairly quiet and we loved the front porch sipping coffee in the morning and having a glass of wine in the evening. It was great to have the porch shaded all day. Fenced in yard was great. The gate had no latch but that was fixed the very same day we reached out to Vacasa. Inside the essentials were all there and the bed is very comfortable. A nice big soaker tub in the bathroom was used a few times.
The cons:
Outside although we were glad to have the yard, after staying a month into the 2 month stay the grass turned brown and it became a dust bowl. No one watered it during our stay although the friendly owner came to mow it a few times. Inside the house is run down. The couch was very uncomfortable to sit on and especially sleep on. We had to purchase an egg crate for company which made it a bit better. In the bathroom the toilet is very unstable and you could see where they tried to do a quick fix by glueing the base to the floor boards which didn’t work. We had to stuff a towel behind the tank to stabilize it. The shower base has been painted over with regular latex paint and was peeling off. Not sure why that was done but it was not pleasant. There is AC but the unit is only in the living room so we had to keep the bedroom doors open the whole time and the air never really reached into the bathroom. Inside the house all the decor was eclectic charm but nothing modern.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. We don’t need anything fancy but the bathroom problem items mentioned were a big miss for us. If you’re looking for something modern then definitely choose something else. The place really needs updates and a renovation.
If there will just be 2 people I think the space is good but very tight to have more than that. Key West is so fun and this location really was wonderful for our needs.

The Gingerbread was the perfect place for me and my husband to live and work remotely for a month. It was close to both Duval street and the beach. We rented bikes and rode everywhere. We had an absolute blast! The house was the perfect size with a full kitchen to cook meals, a king size bed, large modern bathroom and a front porch to sit and have an after work beverage.
