This home is a historical gem that takes you back to old Hawaii with original wood floors, lava rock footings, and 100+ year old dry-stacked lava rock boundary wall. Poipu Beach House is an ideal base for your Kauai getaway. The house and the location are excellent. The house was clean and well stocked. The only drawback was that the pool and spa were cloudy and algae ridden when we arrived. We contacted the owner, who was on vacation in the continental US, and he had someone there to clean the pool and spa that day and follow up for two more days to make sure the cleanup and algae treatment were working. It did take two days before the pool and spa were ready. The hair dryer didn't work when we arrived. The owner had someone deliver a new one that day. The owner was very friendly and responsive when contacted. We would definitely stay there again.

Great place for family getaway. We loved boogie boarding and snorkeling at the Poipu beaches. Also, enjoyed the local shops and restaurants. It was easy to get to the beach from the house. The house was well-stocked with amenities and kitchen/laundry items. And the pool was a nice bonus!

The property had everything we could ask for- incredible location mere steps from the beach, spacious living space for the whole family, private pool and hot tub, comfortable beds and a beautiful landscape with a yard to play in. Made our vacation a memorable one! We will be planning to return as soon as we can. Would highly recommend to our friends and extended family!

We had a crew of 21 staying in various places in Poipu. Our house became home base, with folks coming and going as they needed. The location is amazing. Everyone had their own condos, but our place was in walking distance from all of them. Our teens could boogie board as they wanted and then come back for the pool/hot tub. Our early risers often took coffee to Brennecke's Beach or walked down to Shipwreck Beach to watch the sun rise. We hosted numerous potluck dinners at our place and there was plenty of space for folks to sit and eat. The grill and picnic table out back were perfect.
There have been some updates since the photos were taken- the lanai and the back deck furniture. The bedrooms are kinda small and the carpet definitely needs to go (bring indoor flip flops), but we honestly didn't spend much time in the bedrooms. Our daughters took turns on the pull out couch and the side bedroom. Neither complained about the comfort of the pull out, so that's always a plus. Beds were comfortable and the house had a ton of throw blankets around for naps or just snuggling up. The living room/dining room combo was comfortable and spacious. We spent a lot of time on the lanai and side deck. The backyard pool, fire pit and hot tub were a gathering place as well. The hot tub had a timer, which I had never experienced. We just got in the habit of sending an advanced party to push the button and within one cycle the water would be hot again.
The house has 2 AC units which work fabulously for those areas, but the cool air didn't reach the back 2 bedrooms. It was warm going to bed, but usually cooled off in the middle of the night. And we preferred the open windows to AC, so we never tried running the units all day to see if that helped the back bedrooms. The host was very responsive.

We loved our time at the Beach House on Pane Rd. We had stayed in the home for a few nights, years ago, so we were excited to see the updates done in the meantime. Everybody loved having the pool and hot tub, it was almost always in use by someone in our group. Beds were very comfortable. The backyard is beautful, lush and private. The house is comfortable, only one bedroom has air conditioning so just be aware. There are fans to help circulate the air from the dining room mini split a/c so it was fine. The lanai is big and comfy, the teenagers enjoyed hanging out there. We enjoyed the kitties, chickens, geckos, anoles and Bullfrogs that greeted us everyday. The home is very close to Brenneckes Beach and Poipu Beach as well as Puka Dogs.... Basically we had a week in HEAVEN! We would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a place in Poipu! Three years in the planning…
The vacation was cancelled twice before we were able to enjoy some time in Kauai and this property made the wait worthwhile! It’s a great beach house just steps from the beach.
It has a pool that always had someone in it and a hot tub that helped smooth out the muscles after a rough day snorkeling at the many beaches…great location to golf courses
and restaurants too. Great family vacation!

Great house!
We were two families staying together. The house was great. There was a bathroom for each room which was awesome. We spent most our inside time on the lanai, the kids even slept there one night.
Pool and hot tub were amazing. Used the fire pit one night. Everything in the house was great.
Location is the best. Nice 5 min walk to the beach. Saw sea turtles. Lots of large frogs in the property, fun for the kids.
Highly recommend this rental. New updates, clean. Spacious.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Karl’s home last week. The home was well equipped with everything you need from laundry detergent, shampoo to extra sunscreen and ziplock bags. The lanai was wonderful to relax and lounge around after a long day at the beach which is just right at the end of the street. There is plenty of beach gear to use no need to rent any. The pool and spa were nice to play in when you want to cool off but not be sandy. All and all and wonderful stay we will be back for sure! Thank you Karl for hosting us!

Our 7th trip to the island and this property tops them all for us! We came with the usual characters (Mom, Dad, Son 37, and Daughter 39,, but this time added son-in-law, Juan and 9 mo old granddaughter) and the weather was a little funky but the pool and spa more than made up for it!! You won’t regret visiting!! Linda

The location and house were amazing! So much room for 7 adults. My mom slept on the lanai every night and she loved it!! Great Poipu House
We had an amazing time at Karl's place. The pool was the perfect spot to hang out, and the beach was only a minute away when we felt like playing in the waves. The kitchen was well stocked so we never had to eat out, and the bedrooms were comfortable. Karl was very quick to help us with any questions. We all enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back :)

We had stayed previously on the same street as this house, and we were stoked to find something on the same street but bigger for our growing family. We booked it based upon the location, but will come back again because of the house, too. It had everything you’ll need for a week-plus in Poipu: the pool and hot tub were favorites for the young ones since they had the toys, floaties, etc. and we could go in morning, noon and night, which we did since that’s all our two-year-old wanted to do. We were eating dinner outside at the picnic table most every night, and the backyard at night is perfection. Those that stayed up later sat out by the fire pit and enjoyed the warmth and atmosphere!
They had the best hand towels I’ve ever used, and ended up ordering some for our own house. The decor was fantastic! The kitchen well stocked with good cooking/grilling tools and dishes. But our favorite was the lanai. Some of us even slept out there to catch the cool air after midnight. Perfect for reading, having a beer or wine and chatting. Each night we had 200 steps to the beach to watch the sunset (and whales most nights!) We will be back soon. Thank you Karl for a fantastic place!

We stayed in the property with my mother, husband and two daughters (aged 3 and 5) for a week over Christmas and New Year’s week and had a wonderful time. It’s a very close walk to the beach and Poipu is perfect for the little ones that are just learning to swim. We also spent quite a bit of time in the pool and hot tub which was lovely (and somewhat unexpected). The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is our check in experience. We arrived at midnight on Christmas Day after flight delays and a long day of travel, and the lock box code that we were given was outdated. We were not able to contact the owner after repeated attempts (understandable given the hour), and fortunately were able to find a way into the house. Our advice is to please double check with the owner that you have the latest code information. Otherwise, highly highly recommend!

The only down side: back two bedrooms do not have air conditioning.
The middle bathroom shower flooded because there was sand in the drain. There is an outdoor shower right at the entrance of the house, guests should rinse off the beach sand there before entering. All Tutu Wahines (grandmothers) will scold if you come into the house full of sand! Hahaha!!
We had a slight issue with the key code, but Karl responded within 15 minutes and we were able to get in. (Code had been changed and we were not notified). After that, smooth sailing.
Bottom line: we loved our stay in Koloa/Poipu, thank you!!

The backyard is very relaxing, and it was wonderful having a pool right at the house. The kitchen was adequately stocked and there was even a drawer with some spices and a few extra pantry items left by previous guests (I assume). The house was stocked with enough laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, shampoo/conditioner for the week. I loved the enclosed porch with a swinging chair and two comfy daybeds. It would get warm during the day but cool off at night. It was rather hot when we were there, so the two back bedrooms did get warm, but there were two portable fans, and we left the bedroom doors open, so some of the air conditioning made it back there. I found it comfortable but it was a bit hot for my husband. The living room/dining room and front bedroom stayed very cool. From the house, we walked to the beach, Puka dog, and Little Fish Coffee quite often. We took a boat tour of the Napali coast, went horseback riding through CJM Country Stables, and went tubing with Kauai Backcountry Adventures. We mostly cooked at the house but found a few great places to eat. We highly recommend the Japanese Grandma’s Cafe in Hanapepe. If you are headed out towards Waimea, bring a cooler with ice and pick up some poke at the Ishihara Market for a picnic lunch or to take back for dinner. Overall, I couldn't be happier and am already trying to figure out when we can make it back!
