Emerald Lake Chalet - FISHING SEASON HAS BEGUN!
About this chalet rental
Located in Bellingham, this attractive chalet for R 5,174 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Five miles northeast of Bellingham. Fishing opportunities include stocked Rainbow Trout and resident Kokanee and Largemouth Bass. This lake is one of only four waters in Whatcom County managed with a seasonal fishing closure. Spring catch rates for trout are highest early in the season and decline as fish are harvested and as warmer water temperatures force trout to seek areas of colder refuge. Fall is often overlooked by anglers, but can be an ideal time as fish that have been growing all summer become more active around the lake with cooler temperature Welcome to your secluded lakeside retreat, where tranquility meets adventure amidst the breathtaking beauty of nature's embrace. Step into a world where family fun knows no bounds! Picture this: a cozy haven where board games reign supreme, our brand-new ROKU TV steals the show, and even Pac-Man makes a nostalgic appearance. But wait, there's more! Take a leisurely stroll around the picturesque lake or venture onto the nearby trails. And for those craving a bit of winter wonder, Mount Baker beckons with its snow-capped slopes just a stone's throw away. Nestled a mere ten minutes from the hustle and bustle of shopping and dining, our retreat offers the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. Imagine warming yourself by the crackling fireplace while being mesmerized by the shimmering waters of Emerald Lake, especially enchanting under a full moon and starlit sky. With vaulted ceilings framing breathtaking lake vistas and cozy nooks at every turn, our retreat effortlessly combines charm and comfort. From the vibrant culinary scene of Bellingham to the vibrant nightlife and family-friendly activities, adventure awaits just minutes away. This isn't just any retreat; it's your home away from home, where every amenity is thoughtfully provided without an ounce of fussiness. Two queen beds ensure a restful night's sleep, while a firepit by the water adds a touch of rustic ambiance. Need to stay connected? No problem! We've got you covered with cable, HDTV, and WiFi. And let's not forget outdoor fun—canoeing, kayaking, and even a pedal boat await your exploration, all conveniently accessible from your private dock. So pack your bags, leave your worries behind, and immerse yourself in a world where relaxation and adventure collide in perfect harmony. Swimming and lake fishing are right outside your door between May and October. The damage deposit will be released after your stay as long as the rental is returned in good condition. **This is not a party house. Extra guests and/or special events must be cleared with the Owner in writing or you may lose your damage deposit. Note: Until confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice. There is a self-contained unit called the Studio that sleeps two located below the Chalet. The Studio is listed at VRBO #479323. If you wish to rent out the whole house, the Studio can be rented at a small discount, depending on the time of year. Emerald Lake Chalet is located on the top two floors of the Chalet. There are times when both Chalet and Studio are rented, especially during the summer months. Essay by Susan F. - an 85 year old guest …an aerie hanging in the treetops above a lake… From the Lakeside dock: Truly. Toad Lake has polliwogs. A brown duck (which?) dashes for brush-cover. Two tiny ducklings follow her. (Are they really running across the surface?) They leave spidery wakes. Dragonflies hover, dart. Butterflies flutter, alight, open, close. Yellow Irises cluster. A woman suns on an inner-tube. A woman swims laps. A man, standing in the lake, plays fetch-a-stick with two paddling dogs. A kayaker. Another kayaker with a fishing rod. On the far shore, any time of day, people are fishing. Slanting light makes colors fluorescent: blue (beach chair), orange (vest), red (SUV), all repeated upside-down in the lake surface. Bald eagles glide high above. Another raptor (which?) soars. Swallows (which?) are skimming. Robins and song sparrows are singing everywhere. More birdsong. (Whose?) Timeless northwest forest trees that taper, are mirrored on the lake’s surface as wavering blocks of modern art. Eight Canada geese form a flotilla and head to the far shore, reconnoiter on land, then slowly make their way to the small decaying raft beside us on the pier. They nibble at the covering of green growth and then depart. The geese have left the raft unstable. Untethered, it floats slowly into the middle of the lake. And then, where? An alligator (?) with brilliant gold eyes drifts to the middle of the lake, then hides on the far side. He is retrieved by kayak, - that thrilling, life-size, plastic alligator head that was meant to keep the geese away. From the Dwelling: Look down on the top-feathers of swallows (which?), turned golden in the sun. Catch sight of two young bucks with furred stubs of antlers strolling down the driveway. Later, read by lamplight in chairs before the fireplace. One book can be passed between the two of you to share, reading aloud. Sleep on a queen-size perfect mattress. Brew morning coffee and take the morning easy in an aerie hanging in the treetops above a lake

Everything we needed and comfortable and clean. Make sure you can walk up a lot of stairs!

Wonderful views! Cozy house with everything that you could possibly need. We will definitely be returning.

The property was located just across the dirt road from the lovey lake. It was too cool to swim or kayak, but we saw the outdoor gear in good condition and easily accessible. The home had very comfortable beds and plenty of seating for 6 people for a meal or evening hang outs. There were a lot of board games, puzzles and even a PacMan old style video game. I would highly recommend this place to stay.

We were in Bellingham for a wedding. The house is in a great location and the lake was a really lovely location to relax after a full day of activities. The house was well stocked, clean and attractive. The house is definitely 5 stars. Because we were there for a wedding, we had 4 adults, each with a car. Parking was challenging as a couple people had to find parking elsewhere. The stairs are tough for some seniors.

What a great home base while we moved our oldest into his apartment in town. The lake is so quiet, we were able to unwind. The house is very clean, and has everything we needed. The extras made it so great- the deck swing, pac -man console, and extra deck plus the view were amazing. We were able to cook and grill. We used the paddle boat and the dock was perfect to fish and relax. Our host was quick to respond and very sweet. Thanks so much!

The chalet is adorable and everything that you need and more. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to enjoy the kayaks, etc. and would have loved to stay another day, but those jobs get in the way!

Nice quaint location, quiet and relaxing. Great view from the top level just be prepared for all the stairs. Nice options to use either a paddle boat or kayak or just relax on you private dock. A/C worked great if needed and kitchen was nicely equipped. Great stay!

The whole family enjoyed the stay! My youngest decided they wanted it to be there house, they were very excited to be there.
The directions in the email prior to leaving were informative and the entrance process was very easy to navigate. We were met with a clean space and easy access to the grounds. Everything was as expected based on the description. There was plenty of bedding, if needed, and we were able to get through the weekend with the stocked kitchen. I was a little worried that I would have wanted to bring cookware, spices, or other items, but it was ready to go! The lake across the way, was awesome!! The only thing that surprised us was the close proximity of the guest house or other housing on the property. I was glad that I asked in-laws if they wanted to join us, so that we weren’t necessarily having to stay with other folks during our vacation.
Overall, it was a great stay and would recommend this spot as a fun lake cabin getaway!

We live in a hot and humid state and look forward to our summer break in Washington all year. Emerald Lake Chalet was everything we hoped for in terms of tranquility, beauty and convenience. We were ten minutes drive away from everything we needed, but the setting gave us a feeling of seclusion on the perfect summer lake. The stairs might give some people pause but, trust me, the view was worth it. In the sultry months that await us here in the deep south we will cherish the memories that this beautiful lake cabin in the woods afforded us.

We had a lovely time at this unique and charming lake cabin! The view is so pretty and the hosts made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. There are quite a few stairs outside to access the cabin but that was okay with us! We heard and saw so many birds, and loved sitting on the deck surrounded by trees! The

We arrived to find the chalet just as described! It was the perfect getaway and we felt that we had the whole lake to ourselves. Chalet was supplied with games and life jackets to appease our 7 year old. Also had some fun kayaking and playing Yahtzee and bird bingo there. Kitchen had supplies for easy breakfast/lunches. Views were amazing and house felt very clean. Loved the private dock, views, and household supplies such as laundry soap and shampoo/cond. Liked the fact there were 2 bathrooms. First house on the lake and had the whole end of the lake to yourself, although only 1 small trout caught in June😉
Had to buy some supplies for fishing such as tackle box/bait/hooks @ local Sportsmans Warehouse, stairs were steep and def. made us winded carrying all our stuff up, felt homey (like a grandparents cabin). Primary bedroom is small, yet sufficient.

This is our second time here and it was just as good as the first time. The location is an ideal split where you feel you are out in the wild but really only about ten mins from city amenities. The lake property is so chill and being able to use the kayaks and canoes is such a huge bonus. 5/5 highly recommend and will stay again.

This property is terrific! So charming, great location - we enjoyed canoeing, peddle boating and kayaking around the lake. The fireplace inside just added to the coziness.
It is easy to leave a great review when everything goes according to plan. We had one minor hiccup, and we received a response within 15 minutes - so very much appreciated! You can tell that the owner of this beautiful house really cares about her guests. We would stay here again in a heart beat.

The property has amazing views and everything you could need in a cabin. We hope to stay there again in the future!

We loved our stay! The lake front property has beautiful views. There was a lot provided for us to do at the property, and the town was close by. We appreciated all the attention to details. The toys and games made the stay for our little one fun and engaging. The kitchen had everything we needed. The fireplace and blankets kept us warm as we visited late November. We would gladly stay again.

Cabin type stay - comfortable and unique in many ways. You can’t beat the location with the lake just a few steps away.
Owner communicated well and the place has all the amenities we were looking for. The cabin is a little old and outdated but this does not take away from the experience. We loved it!

We stayed at the Chalet for the weekend while we moved our daughter into WWU. It was the perfect location for goodbyes and family meals. We used the kayaks to explore the lake and fish for a bit. The house was fully loaded with everything that we needed. We absolutely loved waking up to the sun shining on the lake! We would definitely love to stay again when we visit Bellingham.

Lovely comfortable home with plenty of room, well stocked kitchen and total peace and quiet. Great location on edge of city. Young adults really enjoyed it too. Appreciated the thoughtful touches and look forward to returning.

Everything was accurate in the listing. We had a great time with the kayaks on a picture perfect lake. Plus I saw a number of frogs on the lake (major bonus for me). Serene location, town was a short drive. Will stay here again!

We decided to stay for two nights, keep it nice and simple. It was such a relief knowing that we didn’t have to overpack because the house had everything that we needed besides our food and clothes. The house was so homey, I think that’s very important!!
I just wanted to note 2 downsides; there are quite a bit of stairs to get up and down so that may be challenging for someone who has a disability, and there was no front yard to hang out in. You can’t walk around shoeless at the shore of the lake due to the overgrown sticker bushes. Everything else was perfect! Had so much fun with the water toys, and the lake is just perfect and quiet, a little on the cold side.

The home was a great place to go after a day of hiking or whale watching, to relax and regroup. Very quiet and peaceful, but still close to the city. Many activities to do at the home and lake as well.

This place was the perfect way to say goodbye to summer. There are many things to do nearby but we chose to play in the lake the entire time. Everything about the house was perfect and charming, even the pullout couch was comfortable. Highly recommend and will be back annually.

Great directions from our fabulous host, and light traffic, made the drive nice and easy. The chalet is part of a small, quiet, lake community. The lake is warm, peaceful, and gorgeous with the occasional family taking a dip or angler for people-watching from the private deck. The chalet is exactly what you’d expect for the charming area and gives the air that you are walking into your own cabin for the weekend. The lake is perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding, peddle boating, fishing, floating, and swimming and is the perfect size for beginners in all these water activities. Wonderful amenities and super easy checkout instructions. We got exactly our much-needed, quiet, relaxing getaway. Thanks so very much, Ms. Rosetta!

Bellingham gem!
This is a prime location just far enough outside the city (10 minutes) to feel private but still close to everything. Downstairs renters were friendly and quiet; we hardly noticed they were there!
My mom and sister stayed with me at this property as a girls-getaway and much-needed mini-vacay as I go through months and months of chemo. The stairs from street level to the front door were a bit of a workout for me, but manageable. Pack light and you'll be fine!
The whole house was really clean and had everything you need to cook (spices, oils, cooking spray, utensils, pots/pans, you name it!). Just buy food and you're good to go.
The decks get morning/afternoon sunshine and are the perfect spot to eat breakfast/lunch and spot some bald eagles, ducks, and Canadian geese in the summertime. We enjoyed the pedal boat, kayaks, and fishing poles as well as the fire pit on our last night. The pedal boat has seen better days, but is still usable and a really fun! More cute houses surround the lake, so make a point to get out on the water and paddle around to check them out.
We all agree that my dad would absolutely LOVE this place, so we are hoping to come back again soon with him the next time we are in the area. We made TONS of memories and had a great time. Thanks for a great experience!
