Its a green-energy focused resort, and outstanding serenity and tranquility in the area of the hotel. Beautiful and empathic staff they have. Unfortunately i had to cut my holiday short and travel back to my home, they were understanding to an extent and they refunded a portion of my money back. Still grateful for that.
Will definitely consider this hotel when i come back to you Zanzibar

There was a relaxed and nice atmosphere. A nice outdoor area where you could find your own spot. Garden, beach and pool. Everything you need! Yoga every day hold by a yoga teacher. Nice food in the restaurant.

We had hoped to book a safari tour during our time in Tanzania and depended on the hotel to assist us with booking this excursion. We believe the documents given to us by the touring company were falsified and that we were potentially involved in A SCAM or worst case A DANGEROUS TRAFFICKING SITUATION of 3 young women. We left the Sharazad Boutique Hotel early, and unfortunately the hotel owner (who was not even in the country at this time, dismissed our concerns saying that maybe It was a misunderstanding and that before we "get someone fired and ruin their life we should be honest" about the situation. Mainly we:
-We felt unsafe and threatened. We were given an ultimatum by the organizer of Safari Gateway Tours, which the hotel uses to book excursions, and threatened as he got aggressive and yelled at me over the phone saying that if we did not pay $332 per person for plane tickets or go on the safari tour, he would "deal with us in the morning" and that the tickets could not be changed or canceled. This is different from what the hotel owner told us, that the tickets were canceled for free when we canceled. We never confirmed this tour and were not made aware of tickets being booked. Travel arrangements were made without confirmation from us, signatures, or payment.
-Payment was asked for in cash multiple times. There were typos and misspellings on the “ticket confirmation” paperwork and the phone number on the confirmation didn’t work (even though I was able to make calls with no problem to the other local businesses)
-the airline they claim to use for the tours does not fly to Mikumi game park, and there were inconsistencies in prices and accommodations on the company website vs what we were told.
-the hotel owner, who was not present at the hotel during our stay, disregarded our concerns, saying that we were falsely accusing the staff of trying to fraud us and that we needed to "be honest" about the situation.
After discussing the cost of the safari ($620 which differs from the $450 price on their site) the receptionist asked for an all-cash payment. We explained that we did not have that much cash. He then said he would take $120 cash at reception and the rest after the safari was complete with card. We declined and called the organizer Salu and convinced him to take card payment. We asked about the airline and safari company that would facilitate the tour, to do proper research. When we were finally sent the Tripadvisor page for Safari Gateway, It had been an HOUR AND A HALF of us just asking for a company name.
We went back to our room to change for dinner and Farid sent us a “confirmation ticket” via whatsapp without us asking. My name was spelled wrong, the phone number listed at the bottom did not work. The ticket said we would fly directly from Zanzibar to Mikumi, but when we looked there were no direct flights on Coastal Airlines website that flew to Mikumi. There were also no birth dates, passport numbers, or any other official information on the booking confirmation. At this point, we began to believe that the booking may be falsified. We didn’t feel comfortable and let Farid know we would not be going. Our dinner was interrupted 20min later by Farid when he approached us to say that the tickets were already booked and could not be cancelled. We never confirmed the safari tour, signed, or paid. He then handed the phone to me to speak to the organizer Salu who said we HAD to be ready to leave by the 5am departure time or pay them the $900. This felt like an ultimatum to us. I said no and Salu began yelling over the phone and threatened me saying if we don’t pay or go on the tour that he would “deal with us in the morning”, then he hung up. We decided It was best to leave the hotel at that point. After we departed from the hotel, we received unprofessional messages from the staff on what’s app and had to block them for the remainder of our trip.

very nice hotel with great staff.

It is a great hideaway place on the east coast. We were welcomed by a drink, lovely smiles when we arrived. They also took time to show us around.
The staff was friendly, the facilities are great (they provide you during your stay a beach bag, robe, manual fan) as well as a awesome local spa, several seating/lying area, and 3 pools. So you have plenty to do-s meanwhile low tide. Most of the programs are close to this part of the island so you are not stuck in the car for hours.
There are some windsurfers, but not to bothering. You can find some digital nomads in the hotel ,which fit maximum 60 guests, they have a dedicated working area, which is great. It has an awesome yoga sala as well.
They also clean the shore every week, and there are limited ‘beach boys around’, and even if there is no option for a buffet breakfast the amount and variety was great. The octopus was the best we have ever tried!
Definitely will book it again if any time we come back to the island.

We spent a week in Sharazad hotel and we had a good time. The location on the beach is great. It’s easy to reach restaurants and small shops just walking on the beach, and it takes less than 10 min to go to Paje in scooter. The area is very lively on the evening with locals playing football on the beach. During low tide, women come to collect seaweed. The outdoor spaces are great: lots of shade, sunbeds, palm trees, swimming pool.
But unfortunately, the beach is full of seaweed. I knew it before coming but it was really lots of seaweed, and the sand is muddy. Maybe it’s something seasonal (we've been there is January).
Finaly, the hotel is very expensive. I regret I have spent so much money, it’s not a valuable hotel, especially in Jambiani where there are other cheaper accomodation on the beach too. I specifically recommend not to book a garden view. It’s more like a backyard view, near to the reception, and we have been wake up twice by the guy throwing empty glass bottles. The good thing is the front desk manager understood my claim and offered an upgrade in a great superior seaview room for few nights. But I keep thinking I doesn’t worth that money.

EVERYTHING! This hotel was absolutely exceptional from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. The staff were incredible and really made an effort to get to know you. I was lucky enough to have an elevated room which meant I was greeted in the morning by several gorgeous monkeys which was an experience in itself.
The food was divine and the spa....wow! Let's not forget the overall vibe of the hotel, it was just everything and more.
Please, if you intend to visit Jambiani, make sure you spend your time at Sharazad, you won't regret it.
Nothing! Ah may the rooms could have had the UK plug points like the 'Zoom' area but this didn't make the experience any less pleasing, I will just remember to bring an adaptor next time.

At breakfast Jenny and Myajuma were very friendly and Jenny has the most welcoming smile.
Moses helped us a lot with our list luggage.
Joyce was incredible in every way: beautiful smile, beautiful spirit, helped us contact all of our tour operators to make special arrangements, helped us book our romantic dinner, helped us book a spa appointment at a fabulous resort, opened up the gift shop after hours to help us get Safari supplies.
At our special dinner, Zayna was very friendly, kind and made everything perfect.
Everyone was wonderful - we felt right at home!

The location was lovely. The staff helped with organizing activities. The area was really quiet at night.
The restaurant is right in front of the bungalows, so you would smell food cooking during the day.

- It's the perfect place to read a book and disconnect completely
- It's very photogenic and instagrammable, if that's what you're after
- It has many lying chairs and places to sit and relax all over the hotel
- The staff is friendly and attentive
- The Vietnamese restaurant is very good. We had authentic Pho and tasty fusion fish on two separate occasions and really liked it
- The price is very high for what you get
- The rooms and especially the bathroom are built in a very rustic style, which in itself is not bad but it does not correspond to the price you pay. For example, most of the facilities in the room and bathroom are built of raw concrete, there is no ceramics on the bathroom wall. This feels like massive cost-cutting during the construction, which is fine for a non-star bed and breakfast or 3-star hotel, but just does not correspond to the price you pay
- The prices you pay at the restaurants are way higher than anything else we experienced in Zanzibar, which included other hotels.
- The Italian restaurant is not good, maybe it's good enough for the average global tourist, but as a half-Italian, I have to disagree with the positive comments left by other tourists about the Italian restaurant. For example, I ordered a medium-rate tuna steak, making it clear that I wanted it raw inside, yet it came well done. We also had a risotto that was anything but an Italian risotto.
- Finally, I wouldn't stay on this area of the island if I go back to Zanzibar due to the extreme tides that make the beach usable only a few hours a day. The beaches in the North West of the island are far better.

Room location. Cleanliness. Happy staff.
Menu quite limited. Although what was served was good apart from one night we had tough beef. Breakfast menu varied. Foods needed to be labelled to understand what you were eating. This would be a complete nightmare if you have allergies. Need to supply small bowls for fruit and muesli. Had to ask every morning and they would empty something out on the table to a larger bowl and clean out the smaller one which was still on the large size!

There was a great breakfast to start the day. All food in the restaurant was good with daily specials. The beach was amazing. Fine, white sand. The water was perfect for swimming when the tide was high and it was fascinating to watch the seaweed farming when it was low.
The rooms were open air which kept the room nice and cool. One day someone was smoking by the pool outside our door and the room smelled like cigarette smoke. This only happened one time. Otherwise there were no issues with our room.

Jackie on reception very friendly and helped arrange things. Location is good, you can have a nice walk both ways of the coastline. The place is very peaceful during the day and night - the sunlounge/hammock area is really nice and shaded and great to relax in. We stayed in the upstairs suite - the bed was extremely comfortable. Specials on the menu were good
The rooms were very basic - simple which isn't such a bad thing, but would reccomend having drawers / storage for clothes so you can unpack.. No kettle in the room so you can't make yourself a brew and sit on the balcony in the morning. Shower is cold (understandable as eco hotel).. Although the place is very relaxing we stayed at another location for a fraction of the price and the room had more. Food from the menu wasn't great or fully available - stick to the specials on the board they were good

I was originally staying at the Coral Rock where I normally stay when I am in Zanzibar but they cancelled my reservation 4 days before I was supposed to check in. I'm so glad I found Sharazad! This is actually a resort with a big property, 3 pools and my favorite many, many comfortable places to sit and hang out with a view of the ocean. The breakfast was AMAZING!! Sooo much food! A beautiful buffet full of amazing fresh fruit, pastries and hard boiled eggs plus a choice of omelette or one of their daily specials. I will be staying there again next year!

The staff and food were incredible
The rooms were clean but a bit stuffy and made a little difficult to breathe. Would recommend deep cleaning the beds and sheets.
