Wonderful view. Eco-spirit. Beautiful lodges. Authenticity

amazing views and good food at the restaurant

The tents were really cosy, with mattress and proper warm sheets.
Dieudonné was super friendly and helpful.
The staff made us warm water so we could have a good shower in the morning when waking up in the cold.
The food portions are big and not expensive. Food came much faster than what I had read in the reviews.
You can do a rapid test for Covid nearby.
Wifi is poor but not so much of an issue when you want to disconnect.

It is quiet an experience to stay in kitabi Eco center, the view is amazing. It is quiet and a good place to calm down an to settle and do some smartphone detox, sitting on the fire, playing cards or to have great conversations with other travellers
The Lodge offers different guided tours through the teaplantages outside the nationalpark. This is much cheaper than going inside the rainforest and we enjoyed our tour including the visit of the kitabi tea factory alot
ordering food took about 3 hours, even when we ordered at 5.30pm the food came about 9pm. And it was not only one day we had this problem. There are less to no alternatives around for having food.
The wifi is bad and mostly not working

Nice Idea to build the rooms in the ancient Rwandese Style
Nice view over Nyungwe Forest
Environmentally friendly
Near the entry to Nyungwe
Overall vibe of the stuff
Not very welcoming
No shower!!
Toilet paper was missing
Bad road to the parking (you need a 4x4 for it)
Price is way too high for whats offered (it's literally just a small bamboo hut with a bed and a shared toilett, no shower)
Most of the stuff didn't speak english

lunch took about 2 hours to get ready, so make sure you order in advance!

Surprising accomodation: basic small tents. Really nice staff: We were with 5, they arranged on the spot other facilities for the ones of us who wanted that. We loved it!
The weather.

The location was great for exploring the park, and the breakfast was delicious. The bucket showers were surprisingly pleasant, one of the few hot showers we've actually had on our travels. The fire was also a lovely spot for keeping warm in the evening and socialising with the other guests.
The huts are not so sound proof, whether that be noise from other guests or the early construction work in the mornings.

The property overlooked the beautiful tea plantations of the Nyungwe national forest mountains.
I would have wished there to be more signs for bathrooms, eating location or tent/huts.

We stayed in the King's Room - a huge family-sized room in the middle of the complex. It was great and very comfortable. The staff lit a fire for us on the evening. There were a few other holiday makers staying, and it was great to sit around the firepit and share stories. I also forgot some of my luggage when I left, but the staff very kindly organised to send it to Kigali for me. The national park is beautiful, and this is a good place to stay when visiting.
There were some communications issues around meals.- a group style buffet was cooked for everyone staying at a fixed rate, even though this wasn't offered or made clear (it was actually nice, but we had no idea it was happening until it was being served). As was common for us in Rwanda, we were charged more in-person than was detailed on booking.com.

This is a cool place to stay in traditional style houses. The food was good value for money and the beer was cold 😊
It's a little challenging to find and it's a bit of a walk from the parking to the accommodation. The parking is also up a steep, rutted track. We arrived around dusk and I'm glad we didn't arrive any later as it would have been difficult to navigate in the dark.

I've been there several times already. the location is perfect and the view is amazing, rooms are essential but really nice. Everything is clean and quiet.
The staff really must work on the restaurant service. We arrived at 17, ordered the dinner at 18 and got our food at 21. In the morning, all people were waiting for the breakfast which was late, despite they knew that everyone had to leave for trekking and activities. I really struggle to understand how they can be so disorganised. the number of people who can stay there is limited, they shall take more care of food services.

The location is amazing. If the weather is fine I recommend having breakfast in the outdoor area where you can enjoy the landscape. In the restaurant, there's a nice fireplace that creates a cozy atmosphere.
We waited more than an hour and a half to have dinner. The service is too slow but the waiters are kind and careful. I recommend booking meals in advance to have them ready once you arrive at the structure.

Location is great! But that's about it- in front of the hut were (noisy) constructions going on. Breakfast was not served early in the morning despite us requesting it.

Great location close to Nyungwe. Staff were incredibly helpful, patient and accommodating! Beautiful view.
It was a cold night, and no extra blankets available. We needed an early breakfast to get to Nyungwe on time and unfortunately it was late. Drinking water ran out (they did go out of their way to restock the water in the shop late at night, however, it had all been sold by the next morning).

the location is stunning
breakfast was good and on time
little availability for food in the evening
no water to flush toilets

Beautiful Scenery, nice and clean hutlike-rooms, okayisch shared sanitation and shower, good food, comfortable /chilled bar and restraurant hut with coal fire place, terasse with amazing view.
Sanitation and shower conditions were ok, but could be improved. Ask the staff to heat up some water for having a hot shower ;).

We camped here for 2 nights. The campsite is really pretty and has an amazing view over valleys of tea plantations. The view alone makes the stay worth it.
However, staff weren’t always super clear or helpful (this might just be because of the language barrier though) but it was a bit tricky figuring things out with them. Also the showers are buckets with warm water and the toilets are just flushed with buckets as well (this isn’t a problem, but just wanted to mention this so you’re aware) and the paths are a bit tricky to find in the dark and might not be as well indicated as you’d think. Food-wise, the rice and veggie plate is great value for money and the fruit at breakfast is really good.
You need a 4x4 to drive up, fair warning. The road is a bit daunting and steep.

Location, view, breakfast, dinner, stuff, other guests, everything and everyone are just perfect here. Quite and peaceful place, even if you stay in a tent the comfort is always here, including winter sleeping bags and a soft mat. Would definitely recommend it to all the adventure-minded people looking for the true camping with european service with african authentic style!

Very nice location for trips to the park (even the chimps) they also have very nice staff that wil definitely help with the organized trips and also does cool local experiences. Tent, food and service was great.
There is not a real shower which is fine but expect the stay to be basic. Tent is nice and they make sure your comfortable and warm. But for 25 USD per night (without breakfast) your paying for the location and staff/trips because the facilities are not worth 25 a night. I’ve had cheaper stays in Rwanda with better facilities.

Jaques took us on a 2h hike around the area, on the edges of Nyungwe park. We got to learn about the tea plantations, the local life, saw monkeys and reached amazing viewpoints!
The location of the camp is unbeatable; you’re on top of a hill facing Nyungwe, perfect for those sunset and early morning instagrams ;-)
Super friendly and helpful staff!
Cheap beers!
