The eating or drinking area was amazing.
It's not a modern design hotel they for sure did a own style.
I have been to 100 hotels all from 1-10
You just have to go in to the room to understand what I mean.

We were met with smiles from friendly and professional staff from the moment we entered until we checked out. The location was ideal for us, a short drive from Dublin. We had booked a suite as a treat for my wife's birthday and we had a "Wow" moment when we entered the room. The space, decor, and design, (and the four-poster bed) were magnificent. The bathroom too, with its gleaming porcelain, was immaculate.
We enjoyed drinks in the bar prior to our meal in the Elizabethan suite - good to see that both alcoholic and non-alcoholic wines were available. The meal was most memorable - apart from the great food & wine, the service was faultless. Breakfast was also served in this room, the following morning. It proved to be the best breakfast we have had in a long time - the quality of the food was exceptional.
Our visit to Barberstown Castle will linger in our memory. Thanks to all involved.
There appeared to be many young trainees undergoing training during our stay. Naturally, they couldn't know everything immediately, so this one incident is understandable. My wife asked for decaff tea with her breakfast but our server said that they didn't serve it. She had had a pot of decaff tea, the previous day, so when I informed him of this he went to check and returned with a pot of decaff tea.

The room, the bar and lounge areas, the superb smoking facilities, the extremely friendly and helpful staff.
I felt the menu in the garden bar was a little limited.

Lounge, bar and waiting staff were very friendly. The room was very clean, spacious and quiet.
No kettle in the room and the reception staff did not accommodate for this. Waited 1hr for a pot of tea to arrive to the room after several phone calls. No information on hotel, area, room service or wifi in the room. These basic amenities are common place in a mid-range hotel and are the least you would expect at these high prices. The cocktails in the bar were terrible. The old-fashioned was just whiskey with water and a slice of orange.

The location and ruggedness off the castle. It was easy get lost
but, in a good way not your typical castle hotel layout, with obvious main entrance, reception area etc.. . Ted (Owner & Manager on duty) was super, interacting with staff and guests. The lady on reception was more than helpful. Breakfast and bar food really enjoyable.
One staff member seemed like they just were not happy to be there and was not at all friendly or approachable.

Have stayed in many hotels in Ireland but this one ranks in my top three.
It had everything one wishes for- Warmth and comfort, lovely four-poster bed fit for a king, peace and quiet, delicious food, very friendly and obliging staff, beautiful indoor decor and nicely designed gardens with very attractive ornamentation. Will definitely stay there again.
