About this house rental
Serving families since 2010! This historic 9,500 square feet lake home is conveniently located on 745 Highway 45, Pelican Lake WI. We accommodate family reunions, small weddings, organizational retreats, group vacations, and other special occasions. The beautiful 3,585-acre Pelican Lake is perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, and other fun water activities. We provide 2 piers, one for your boat and the other is for the 85 ft swimming area with sandy bottom. This old (1928) hotel has been renovated touching on nearly everything on and in the building. Inside is a spacious kitchen with 3 refrigerators, 1 chest freezer, a walk-in pantry, 2 big prep built-in tables, stocked with pots and pans for your cooking pleasure. You will also enjoy the spacious bar, living room area, 50-seat dining room, and kids room. The kitchen and bar are yours to stock with your favorite foods and liquor/beer. The hotel is listed in both National and Wisconsin Historical Register. Over a hundred years of history. The hotel was originally built in 1898. It was first remodeled in 1912 with the addition of bricks. It was destroyed by fire in 1926 and was later rebuilt with the same frames of the building in 1928 which is now the current look of the hotel. For decades the hotel was run as a hotel and restaurant and was the center of activities in the old days. Why Stay With Us? A Home Away From Home. Pelican Lake Hotel is home for many families for many years. There's an instant feeling of home once you enter into the hotel (We rented the Hotel for our own wedding in 2010. We liked it so much we bought it.). The kitchen was once a commercial kitchen which is big and fully equipped with appliances, kitchen utensils, and dinnerware. Every room is spacious enough for big groups. The dining area seats 50 people, and the bar seats about 20 people at the bar and tables. The building is about 9500 square feet. So there's plenty of room for everyone. The outdoor ground is huge enough to park cars, recreational vehicles, and tents. There will be nobody there except the renters, so you would feel the privacy of your own home. Some of our Families have been making memories in the hotel for over 25+ years for their annual family reunions. We offer EXPERIENCE. The hotel is situated on the 3600 acre Pelican Lake. It has 330 ft of lakefront, 80 feet of which is with shallow sandy bottom for swimming area. It is facing west, so you'll enjoy the exquisite sunset, like no other. There are 2 piers in the facility to park boats, and swim. Activities include swimming, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, tubing, water skiing, and more. We have 4th of July parade and we are a walking distance to Shabby Shack to get souvenirs or just to enjoy ice cream with family. There's that little kid in every one of us and that experience with your little ones enjoying a cone of ice cream is priceless. Boat landing is literally a house away! The town is also ideal for bike riding if you like riding under the canopy of trees. The town is quiet, a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Terrific venue for five different families. Perfect historic old hotel that met all of our needs. Probably the best gathering place the families have ever had. Can’t think of a better place for 20 people. Great host who was responsive to our every request. Can’t say enough. Our second time visiting and plan on many more. Jeff Archibald

We had our 3rd annual Fall Friends Weekend at the Pelican Lake Hotel! Despite rainy weather and a lightning strike, we had a wonderful time playing games, making food, and telling stories- there was even a murder mystery afoot!
The hotel is an amazing space for 10+ households to get together with their own rooms, and enough separate common areas for multiple simultaneous activities.
The kitchen is spacious with more dishes, utensils, and cookware than you could ever need. If someone needed something, you can bet we found it at the Pelican Lake Hotel! We are already excited for next year! Thank you so much!

This was our first extended family vacation together. We had lots of room for shared meals, games, crafts and stories. The bar was fun for the adults with the kids in the toy room next to it. Plenty of bathrooms for all. We spent a lot of time preparing meals in the large, well-stocked kitchen.

We held a family reunion here for a week. 27 people age 3 months to 86 years old.
Pros: The kitchen was large and well-stocked, the lake and the piers were nice, number of individual bedrooms was good for our group, dining room was big, property manager was responsive and helpful, location was within walking distance of the boat launch, BP station, and The Shabby Shack.
Cons: Water was undrinkable so we had to buy our own each day (bad taste, smelled of iron, sediments in glasses). Overall cleanliness of property was poor (spider webs, dead bugs, overgrown plants on exterior stairs, we saw bats and mice inside the house)
Furniture was very old and shabby
Leaking pipes dripping from the foyer ceiling
Water heater needed repair while we were there
While the property manager was responsive, the Property Owner was difficult to reach between booking and our stay (often took days with multiple contacts to get a reply to a simple question)
When we arrived, the internet modem was unplugged. Once it was up and running it only worked in the bar and the bedrooms directly above the bar.

This review is several months after our stay, but the warm feelings towards this place remain! It is a perfectly delightful old building with a ton of character and charm and I hope we can go back sometime! It holds everything needed for a weekend of fun for a youth (or other)group. It was still winter so we didn’t get to enjoy the lake. The only negative, in my view, is outdated bedding, and I recommend bringing some of your own. Really great stay, over all though, and Julie is a fantastic host!!! :)

We have been going to the Pelican Lake Hotel for many years now. It does not disappoint if you are looking for a large space for a group. It is not fancy, but that is kind of the point.

Beautiful location for an extended family weekend. The space was perfect for our group to cook, eat, play board games, watch football or a movie. It is unique because it fits our large group and has great space for the group to gather. We love the dining room because we can all eat together!
Check in and out were easy, communication was quick and very helpful. Thanks for everything.

Our family enjoyed spending our Christmas at the Pelican Lake Hotel. The Christmas tree was a nice touch! The dining room is large enough for our needs and the bar provides a fun space to spend the evenings. We ranged in age from 1-87, and everyone had a great time.

Our youth group and chaperones had a fantastic time here even though the lake was still frozen and the weather wasn’t great for outdoor activities. We enjoyed exploring the hotel, and, in the words of one the chaperones, “the haunted house vibes!” If you come expecting an old, once elegant place with plenty of character you won’t be disappointed! Would love to come here during the summer…
The host, Julie, was absolutely the best!! :)

Family Thanksgiving
Four generations of our family enjoyed our four night Thanksgiving get away. The dining room was perfect for our Thanksgiving dinner and provided a great space for games and puzzles in addition to meals. We made good use of the large kitchen with four ovens and three refrigerators. We hope to return again!

Perfect Large Family Getaway
Our group of 21 (8 kids under 9, and 13 adults) had a GREAT week at the Pelican Lake Hotel. Everyone had plenty of space, the kids loved hanging out in the toy room, the adults loved the living room and bar, and we all enjoyed family meals in the huge dining room. Check in was super easy, and communication was great the whole way through. We hope to be back soon!

This place was great! It’s hard to find anything that will accommodate such a large family. We had the whole extended family here, and there were enough rooms for everyone! Very seldom can we find anything that will fit all of us under one roof. It was great to have all forty of us together in the same room for meals. We brought our boats and tied them right on the dock, hopping in and out to tube, fish, and swim. There was a great fire pit to enjoy a campfire and make s’mores. There was ample parking to park our cars and trucks with attacked trailers. It was very private, and we had the whole property to ourselves. We loved the homey, old world charm of the place!

We had a great time at the Pelican Lake hotel for our wedding! The service from the owner Julie and manager Jeff was fabulous! The place slept our families comfortably and the huge kitchen made meal preparation for a large group easy. Last, the location on the lake was unbeatable. We enjoyed using both piers for boating and swimming. We would definitely love to go back!

Another great stay at the Pelican Lake Hotel
This was our second stay at the PLH and it was wonderful once again. There were numerous updates since last year. It was -20F all three nights when we stayed there this time, but it didn't get unreasonably cold anywhere inside. The place is by no means "fancy", but it checks all of the boxes for a large gathering. The bar area is super comfortable for adults and there is also a lot of different rooms for the kiddos to stay entertained. We have already booked for next year and looking forward to it!

My family of 28 enjoyed everything this property had to offer as we celebrated Thanksgiving!
The property was amazing because it allowed my family to stay under one roof for three days without having to worry about traveling, putting kids to bed, providing enough spaces to gather and rest! We loved the kitchen for cooking and the bar for toasts and karaoke! We used the dining hall for meals and games. The care taker Jeff was great! We traveled from 5 states and it was well worth it! We hope to come back again!

Our whole group simply had a wonderful time at the Artus Perlican Lake Hotel! We had a gathering of 50 plus adults and kids and the hotel more than kept us comfortable and happy. There was ample places for everyone to sleep and gather. The large dining room was a must as was the commercial grade kitchen. Although I have to say the big hit for having our own bar!
The location was also perfect. It was on a beautiful lake with our own dock. There is also an outfitter in town that will rent motor boats and pontoons and deliver to the hotel's dock at your request. The large front yard could be used for multiple activities but our group chose to play bocci ball and it was perfect. In the back yard, we were able to have a camp fire in the ring and the owners even provided ample campfire wood. That was really awsome. Thank you Julie, we just had such a wonderful time at your lovely hotel and it really reminded some of us how things "used to be."
All in all, there are lots of places you can rent for a larger group, but you won't find anything this accommodating, charming, comfortable, and most of all affordable. If you are considering renting this beautiful gem of a hotel from a bygone era for gatherings, reunions, weddings, retreats, or just getting away for the weekend with friends, DO NOT HESITATE, just book it. I guarantee you will not be disappointed! You would have to spend at least twice the money for anything remotely considered "better." As a matter of fact, our group will for sure call on Julie and the Pelican Lake Hotel for another stay within the next few years. Once again, a big thank you to you and your family for helping us arrange a wonderful time together that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

We had a great family Christmas as the Pelican Lake Hotel!!!! From the beginning, Julie was a pleasure to work with and always answered our questions right away! Jane was great once we arrived at the property and showed us everything we'd need for a great stay! There was plenty of room for our large family to spread out and we even had bedrooms to spare! The kitchen was perfect for preparing and serving the large meals. Plenty of refrigerator and freezer space too!
The dining room was perfect for eating but also doing fun crafts and putting together a few puzzles. The bar area was great for people to watch the Badger game. The kids play room was perfect, with lots for the little ones to do.
The bedrooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. There were enough bathrooms for the size of our group. The building is solid and sound did not carry through walls or ceilings.
The views of the lake were priceless and we couldn't have asked for a better setting to celebrate our family Christmas! We would highly recommend this place for any large group gathering and we hope to return next year!

Our family of 34, has had the pleasure of staying at the Pelican Lake Hotel for the last 2 years. We are so appreciative of the many bedrooms , the large dining area and well-stocked kitchen. We use the bar area to gather nightly with our own stock of spirits. We also had a blast with the karaoke one evening. The firepit provided nightly entertainment as we held family campfires. We enjoy the fishing from our own fishing boat and a pontoon we rent locally. Ages in our group range from 6 mo. to 91 years. We truly enjoy and look forward to this yearly trip. Love it!!
