This property was fantastic. We had two families of four and it worked perfect. My wife and I slept on the bottom floor, my friend and his wife on the middle floor and the four kids on the top floor in a space that was great for them. I can't say enough about how close and convenient the home was for access to Big Bear Mountain. It literally took 4 minutes to walk and be on a lift. This was a great benefit considering how busy the parking lot got and how far the shuttles would have been if we chose elsewhere. Even being so close it was extremely quiet and was not bothered by traffic at all. We got great snow while we were there and the kids were able to do some sledding in the front yard. The property is aging but it appears the owners are actively working on upgrades. It had everything we needed and allowed us to really enjoy our ski trip and New Years. Definitely look to return.

My family and I plan a trip to big bear eagerly year. The property was very well maintained and had more than enough space for the 6 adults and to kids we had in our group. We enjoyed our time! Thanks Michael

Pros:
Property manger was wonderful- very communicative & helpful.
Location! You can walk to Bear Mountain, close to shops, attractions, beautiful view.
Divided living space (upstairs and downstairs gathering areas) plus interior laundry.
Cons:
Kitchen needs updating - new stove but cabinets are falling off the hinges. Microwave was broken for our stay. Not very well stocked with cooking supplies. (We donated a few items from the dollar store)
Bathrooms partially upgraded- showers are still in bad shape, downstairs shower-head was broken.
Upstairs couch needs replacing- lifted the cushions and it was gross under there.
Deck need refinishing, a few boards felt like I might fall through. No useable outdoor furniture.

We were super pleased with the location walking distance to the slopes for my son and close to everything. Everything we needed was there. We will for sure be back to book the house.

This property was in a perfect location to walk to the slopes of Bear Mountain. It was a fun stay, got what we paid for which was all we needed. Would of been nice though to have the heat on higher than 55 degrees since it was so cold outside and the heat is with wall furnaces which take a while to heat up. Did stay pretty warm once we got it there.

To us this cabin was very overpriced. It was a short walk to Bear Mountain which was the best amenity of this cabin. It also has beautiful views of the slopes from every window and balcony. The problem is it was very old. Some of the doors needed many attempts to close the locks. One window was a problem as well. One shower had a water pressure issue. The water in one bathroom sink was slow to drain. You could see through the linens on the bed. The nice thing is the cabin has three levels and two of them have a bathroom and living room with tv on each level. So my husband and I hung out comfortably on one level and my 20-year old and his friend hung out on another. They have two Queen beds, four bunk beds and 2 couches to sleep on. The kitchen was very clean and the refrigerator. The largest TV was a little blurry. The outside deck needs care. One of the panes on the back door was broken. We did not have snow. There are sleds in the closet if you do have snow. This is no Marriott for sure. But kids don’t even notice the age of the cabin. It says 4 cars to park but during Covid it’s only two.

The three-level home was perfect for our two families to enjoy a 4th of July getaway. There was plenty of room for the kids to explore and play. Kids would retreat to the 3rd floor equipped with bunks, play games in the evening and watch Netflix, eat breakfast on the mid-level and hang out on the nice big deck or head downstairs and play foosball and watch Netflix.
We spent most of the days out exploring. When we’d return to the home it was quite warm except the floor level stayed pretty cool. Floor level was a nice retreat to cool off, if needed, but as soon as evening came the house would quickly cool down.
The fully stocked kitchen and high ceiling was exceptionally nice and served us well as we spent most of our time (when present) in the kitchen and common area.
The location was great, too! Tucked away just a couple miles from the lake.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, would recommend it and would return.

Large, and close to the slopes.
This home is large and in a great location for the price, offering a very short walk to the lifts at Bear Mountain. It was comfortable, and we would probably stay there again.
The layout is a bit strange. The 1st floor has laundry, a living room, a (queen?) bedroom, a foosball room, and a bathroom.
Steep, narrow steps take you to the 2nd floor, which has the exact same layout but with a kitchen replacing the laundry room, and a dining area in place of the foosball room.
There is another set of steep, narrow steps off the dining area which take you up to a loft with two bunk beds.
The place feels either rustic or dated, depending on your frame of reference. It could use some work and updates, but it will fit the needs of most renters.
There are 5 modern Roku TV's: one in each bedroom, and a large one in each living area. We didn't watch a lot of TV, but it was nice to have access to Netflix and cable after a day on the mountain.
A few things kept it from 5 stars, but these were to be expected at the price we paid.
There was a fair amount of mold (or some other fuzzy black substance that I didn't care to check too carefully) in the 2nd floor bathroom.
The foosball table was missing the ball returns, so the kids had to get the ball from under the table every time a goal was scored. Both bonked their heads before eventually giving up. They were excited about foosball, so this sort of ruined the allure of the foosball table.
There are a lot of warnings about fees you will incur if you leave anything dirty or out of place. I suspect the owner has had more issues with bad renters than most.
For two pairs of parents and a few kids looking for a place that is convenient to Bear Mountain, with a this is a good rental.

Location and comfort
We walked to the Bear Mountain lifts, which we could see from the front door! Very comfortable and cozy so a nice place to unwind after being out in the snow all day. Will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful location
We enjoyed our stay very much. The condo is an easy (1-2 block) walk to Bear Mountain. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, and pans, and sheets and towels were provided for the bedrooms and bathrooms. The place is not fancy, but is a good choice for a family with kids. Thanks!

Excellent location, kids could walk to ski lifts. Plenty of room for all 7 of us. A few minor bumps in the road but Mike the owner was very accommodating. Would stay again!

Walking on Eggshells and Supervised!
The cabin was really nice and comfortable however, we had to shower with COLD water. There was NO warm water. Only at night. The owner literally lives next door. He was constantly emailing me with reminders. If you don't mind having someone on your back this is the place. Checkout was at 12pm. He literally came and knocked at the door at 11:30am to kick us out "to remind us that checkout was at 12pm AGAIN." We already knew that but he said he didn't see anyone packing the cars. UGH hello we were gathering our stuff and cleaning up! He has so many rules so we wanted to make sure none were broken and that we left the house as he wanted to avoid any fees. Then he asked why we had the mats out hanging on the porch. Like dude! Get off our back! We put them out because he had so many rules we wanted to avoid fees. Other then that its cool that it was across the slopes. BBQ grill no good. It takes so long we gave up on it. He also told me he kicked out his previous renters. Good luck to anyone that wants to stay here! It's really nice and convenient but the owner isn't!

Our family had a wonderful and relaxing time in this house. Michael was easy to reach and accommodating. We were very comfortable here and would love to stay again. It's in a great location. Private but close to everything.

pretty good cabin.
It has three floors so that means the top floor gets very hot in the summer. Bathroom floors were a bit dirty.

Very quaint, clean cabin. Very comfortable and you can't beat the location! Next to the Moonridge Zoo and steps to Bear Mountain! Beautiful view of the slopes! Definitely would rent again!

Ski trip to Big Bear Mountain
Property was walkable to Big Bear Mountain ski area. We liked the multiple floors for various gatherings in a group of 6. Mike the host was not the best at communicating and got a bit nasty when we needed a gas bottle exchanged on the gas BBQ. He forced us to walk up the hill to meet him, and schlep the bottle back to the house. That wasn't a good experience. Mike was also a bit nasty prior to arrival when asked for directions. He made a stink about providing location and directions and only provided them after multiple email requests. Not sure what that was about.

Location, location, location!
Easy booking. Host was outstanding with response time. Overall the perfect location for 2 families. Only thing I could think of was a few bulbs need replacing...but other than that, the place was over stocked, cleaned and everything we expected. Can't wait to come back! Thanks again for letting us stay at your Red Rooster Inn!!

Cozy cabin
Our families enjoyed our stay at the Red Rooster Inn. Clean, cozy and lots of fun to be had! Games available and SO close to the lifts! We loved being able to walk back to cabin to grab lunch. Our kids also had so much fun playing with sleds in the snow in front yard. There was a washer/dryer available which was so nice to take care of wet clothing.
We were two families of four and had plenty of room to be comfortable. The 4 kids slept in the loft upstairs which they loved! The only thing is that it was very cold in the loft. The heat did not make it up there. A space heater was available, but we were not comfortable leaving it on throughout the night. Extra blankets were available. The bed downstairs could use replacement. The couple sleeping in it did not sleep great because it caved in the middle.
Overall we had a great stay and would return :)

Great cabin - awesome location
We had a great 3 night stay over President's Day weekend. Great place, awesome location !!

We stayed here for Thanksgiving and had a great time. It's located in a nice spot - close to Bear Mountain, the grocery stores were 5 minutes away, and maybe 10 minutes to The Village. We did hear the snow machines making snow at night but it wasn't loud enough to bother us, and you'd hear that anywhere you stay if close to the slopes. The place was exactly as described in the photos. The kids loved having the loft to themselves, and the additional space heater up there was more than enough to keep them toasty all night. The kitchen had all the necessities we needed for our stay. We found ourselves wishing for a humidifier since the air was so dry, but had we looked in the closet before the day we left we would have found the one there! The TV was sufficient for us, though we didn't watch much. WiFi was fine throughout the house and we had no problems with Internet. Only thing to be aware of is AT&T coverage is "emergency only" at the cabin. We had folks with T-Mobile and Verizon so we still had the ability to call and text, but something to be aware of.
After we arrived home we discovered we were missing a cell phone, and Mike was generous enough to spend an hour turning over the cushions and searching high and low. Luckily we found it buried in a bag we thought we'd unpacked, but Mike really went out of his way to search for it.
Lastly, if you go there in the 2016/17 season, let us know how our snowman is doing! It's on the right side of the driveway.

We truly enjoyed our time at the Red Rooster! Clean, updated and walking distance to Bear Mountain. Mike and his team keep this place in pristine condition. Room for 2 families with a foosball table - can't ask for more.

Loved the location - very close and walkable to the mountain for skiing. Michael was very responsive via email with every question we had leading up to our stay and even during our stay. The cabin is very clean and worked great with our 4 kids/4 adults. We normally have to pack extra cooking utensils/pots/pans when we travel, however the cabin was very well stocked with everything you could think of needing. We're looking forward to staying again next year when we return.

Great place for families! Awesome yard for the kids to play in. Fun loft for them to sleep in, and walking distance to bear mountain. We had 2 families of 4 and fit perfectly. Be warned that this is a 3 level home and the stairs are super narrow and steep. Our kids (ages 4-7) were ok, but preferred to go down on their bottoms. If you have kids much smaller than that you may want to bring a baby gate for piece of mind!

We arrived on a Friday and the owner was kind to let us get in an hour earlier since I was concerned about getting in when the sun was going down. The location was super close to Bear Mountain if you want to walk to the slopes. The house is 3 stories with narrow steep stairs to each floor. Bedroom, bathroom, living-room, Foosball and laundry on first floor. Kitchen living-room, bedroom bath on second floor. Bedroom with bunks on third floor. A few issues came up after we left and the owner became rather snippy in the email conversation. I am not sure if it was the fact that I questioned the charge of $X+Y for leaving the trash when it was posted as $X amount or the fact that I mentioned the cable went out and there were cob webs in the ceiling in the kitchen. I wouldn't have mentioned the later two but since I had to question the extra charge, I thought I would give him some feedback on the rest. Normally, I would not have cared about the TV however, we have some small kids (2 and 4) that were sick and needed to cuddle on the couch and watch cartoons for an evening. My recommendation, bring your apple TV and avoid emailing the owner if you have question or complaint.

The house was perfect for our needs. We had 4 adults and 4 kids. The loft with bunks was a perfect place for the kids to hangout on their own.
You cant beat the location from the Bear Mtn, within 5 minute walk. The yard would have been fun for sledding but we unfortunately hit the week of a freak winter heat wave. Thankful we got 2 days in on the mtn slopes. We are already planning our next trip. Micheal was quick with responses and very helpful answering questions.
