Worst experience
I chose to book this accommodation (for a work trip) through Booking.com because I have never had a poor experience using Booking.com UNTIL now. This accommodation should be removed from this site as it was probably the worst business travel experience I have had. The location of this accommodation is not in the best part of Cape Town CBD - it certainly doesn't feel safe. Do not be fooled by the interior pictures. I arrived just before 4pm on date of check-in only to be met by a surly, lazy security guard. I asked how the check-in process works and he told me he needs a unit number. No one from the establishment provided me or my assistant (who contacted the establishment confirming all was in order) a unit number. I called Mmatsatsi Phadime (from Alimama Spaces) for my unit number and she gave it to me. I gave it to the guard and he said the unit was still being cleaned by the cleaners. At 4pm. When check-in was anytime from 2pm. I would have to wait another 10 minutes.
In these 10min I received a phone call from Mmatsatsi's colleague, who did not identify herself by name, telling me that she has apparently tried to get hold of me (not a single call received from her, nor an email) the morning of my booking. She's sorry but my booking has been cancelled because the person currently staying in the unit decided to extend their stay for another 2 weeks. Their offer of a room share somewhere in Fynbos as 'alternative' accommodation was neither suitable nor did I deem it safe. The lady put the phone down on me.
I was left without accommodation, in Cape Town CBD, on a Monday afternoon with no alternative as the whole of Cape Town had been booked out for the Mining Indaba and the subsequent state of the nation address. A service provider like this should never be on a well-established booking service like Booking.com. I also hope no one else risks their stay at any of these Alimama Spaces - they are untrustworthy and extremely unprofessional.
