Great location! Easy walk to transportation and all sights. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Only negative was my room was close to a motor that hummed through the night which was a little annoying but otherwise great stay! Would definitely reccomend.

The hotel is just outside of the U1 station which takes you directly to the town center or to the train station within a couple of minutes. There are also restaurants and markets nearby. They also have a very nice car service available to the airport. The room was large and clean.

This hotel is very well situated for easy access to the centre. The underground is 100m away and one stop to Karlsplatz which has links to everywhere. It’s very quiet and comfortable. Rooms nicely decorated. The breakfasts were good. We were not able to access English tv and the umbrellas were old and broken. But staff were lovely and helpful,

An Ok hotel in a good location. But the furniture is too tired. The room was cold (end of November). Breakfast: good selection but so-so taste (especially the scrambled eggs and that thing that tried to pass as bacon).
4.0
Perfect location 15 minute walk from the central train station and a subway stop is steps outside the door. As a solo-female traveler, felt safe staying here and in this neighborhood.

This hotel is very well located, walking distance from everything and surrounded by a trove of restaurants. If you drive, you can park your car for 8 euros a day at the University parking across the street.
The hotel itself is nothing special and a bit outdated. It is however clean and comfortable but if you plan on spending time in your room, this is perhaps not the best option. We have not tried the hotel breakfast as there are plenty of choices around.

Charming, old-world feel to the building. The bed was comfortable and the bedding fresh and clean. Metro station right outside the door. Cafes and restaurants in close walking proximity. Staff helpful and friendly. The bathroom was newly renovated and sparkling clean. Shower fixtures were oddly placed making it awkward to find the right spot to stand for showering. For the price of the breakfast, 17 euros, we expected to see fresh fruit, a toaster for the bread and maybe some bacon of which there was none.

The hotel itself is clean and very pleasant. The double room was well sized, with a great bathroom and shower. The breakfast is definitely not worth the price they charge. The location is fantastic and close walking distance to many attractions. The service at the hotel, particularly the check in was terrible. Not only did the reception staff lie about the hotel having rooms with balconies (which it does and says so on the hotel website) but they were also very rude and in no rush to process the check in until exactly 2pm even though i offered to pay extra to be able to access my room after traveling for 14 hours and explaining to them that I am not feeling well. The hotel is great but could definitely use better reception staff than the 2 ladies who work the desk during the day - clearly they do not grasp the concept of customer service nor do they care to provide it and I think with better staff the hotel would be far more successful

Perfect for a short stay. Close to public transit.

Great location near downtown and next to subway stop. Excellent reception staff, excellent breakfast. Nice rooms. My only complaint: wifi not very reliable. I’d definitely stay there again

Other than wifi frequent disconnect, the stay was great. Service was very good and the staff was helping. Very clean rooms and close to the tourist places. I will stay again

Staff is professional. The room is really nice.

The room was small, but typical for a European hotel. The breakfast was okay. About a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Opera house and Saint Stephens cathedral. One small elevator.

Very nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, big and quiet rooms, great coffee machine in the room. Also, the location of this hotel is wonderful. The hotel is in a quiet residential area very close to downtown. Just 15/20 minutes walking to the opera and to the imperial palace or just a subway station away (the subway is next to the hotel).
I’ll stay again!!!

We enjoyed our time - it was a clean, safe area within a comfortable 15-30 minute walk to most everything we wanted to see in our day trip through Vienna. Staff was polite and helpful - we would choose this hotel again.

The hotel is located in a quiet area but within walking distance of many attractions or a short tram or metro ride away from the city centre. Our room was light and spacious and the bathroom had plenty of vanity space. Staff were courteous, friendly and helpful with all our questions. Really enjoyed our stay here!

Beautiful hotel with rich history. Staff were very friendly and always helpful. Beautiful property. Only downside was we lost power and we were stuck on the 4th floor as my 100 year old grandfather couldnt take the stairs.

Excellent stay - comfortable & quiet hotel, recently renovated rooms, very friendly & professional staff, great location (walking distance to subway line 1, one stop to main train station); Center and Belvedere in walking distance, nice breakfast, room had all the essentials: (room safe, AC, windows can be opened, minibar/fridge, desk, coffee machine, extra comfy chair, high ceilings, reading bed lamps, nice headboard, enough outlets, functioning WiFI, blackout curtains. The only things that were "missing" were a desk lamp for the desk (helpful for working at the desk), and a small "coffee" table.

Our first time in Vienna and the accommodations were fine. TV wasn’t working when we checked in but was fixed immediately after we told the front desk. Room was nice and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Much better than expected. Reasonable price even within the walking distance to the city centre. Breakfast was fine.

The room was very nice and modern. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would stay again if I were in the area.

WiFi network and dryer's power were so weak.
Good communication with staff.

The front desk staff and cleanliness made my visit exceptional!

Great location, a 15-20 minute walk from the centre of Vienna. Quiet air-con which is a bonus, and EUR15 breakfast, worth it.

Clean, quiet and roomy. Very comfortable and easily accessible within the city.

The hotel was great. About 10-15 min walk to the city centre but it’s a nice area and safe to walk

I stayed at Hotel Johann Strauss for two weeks on vacation, and I loved every minute of it. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was varied and delicious. The air-conditioning made my room a comfortable retreat on several very hot afternoons.
Location-wise, it was perfect. Less than a block from both the U1 line with links to several tourist destinations, and a short walk from tram stops at Paulanergasse. In addition, there were a variety of restaurants within easy walking distance.
All in all, I can't recommend this hotel enough.

The breakfast spread was excellent. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay there again when we are in Vienna.

We stayed for 5 nights any merely used the hotel as a place to sleep. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that. Our room was cleaned every day and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again.

Would've wanted to stay longer if they weren't fully booked

Our stay at Hotel Johann Strauss was everything we could have asked for. The staff are very courteous, the cleanliness of the rooms is first-rate, and the hotel lies in very close proximity to main channels of transportation throughout Vienna. For anyone wishing to spend some time in a very interesting part of the city and near some of the most valuable attractions, this is a wonderful place to make one's nest.

Quiet location near metro station that is only two stations from Vienna center. Very clean and well-kept. Very friendly and helpful staff. However, the coffee and tea in the room are NOT free.

Small rooms, good shower a little antiquated. Most staff pleasant. Cleaning staff lovely. Rooms were cleaned every day.
Breakfast a good selection. Have to pay for coffee and tea made available in the room not what we expected. It does say tea and coffee available. Had to pay the full hotel stay at check in; maybe the way they do it in Vienna, not something I have experienced anywhere else! Nothing complimentary and some what over priced. The photos on the web look amazing- should have known wide angle camera. Very easy access to transport and very easy to follow the routes. Overall a beautiful city but the room was small for two people and over priced.
