New management in the last couple of years renovating a nice place, going the right direction; but might have to raise prices 'a bit' to improve (though I hate to say it).
Most things are in place: comfortable beds, linens, towels - but some little things: rough toilet paper, empty soap dispenser, inadequate internet speeds for the streaming TV, window shades needing work - prove that it's tough to offer high quality at lower prices.
Of course - If the price is as high as the established hotels, travelers will choose what they know, so it's tricky.
Cactus Cove offers Pickleball, mini golf, indoor pool, atrium, etc. - So they can attract people with things that set them apart.
Maybe the owner could invest in some billboards on the roads leading to Amarillo (I-40 & US 287) to catch travelers passing through (as many folks do).
Like others, Amarillo is never my destination but is a nice halfway point on trips to the Rocky Mountains.
This hotel was originally built to attract conventions & the like - hence, the extra amenities. Newer places have now been built for those.
In current times, perhaps they should look for travelers passing through.
I'll go there again to see how they do.

It was amazing. Pool was warm. They were great all around

Pictures miss leading. Little privacy. Could hear other guessed. No way to comunícate with staff. We had to go all the way down stairs. No extra blankets. Disappointed for sure.

It also houses a stripper club. Overall looks gross and filthy that I couldn’t stand it, I left in less than an hour and booked a different hotel even if I’m only staying for a night to take a break from long drive. I was hoping I could save but ended up wasting $90.

Funky place. Unique. Kind of dated but perhaps that added to the unique character

Was nice but still needing finishing in the room don’t mind the place but should finish rooms before letting one stay in them. Besides that nice place

I was not impressed with this hotel. When I booked online I was deceived by the photos. Not knowing you had to have an upgrade to get a room as seen in photos. I got a basic room, bed was hard, old appliances, old bathroom, had an awful smell. Doors were thin so we heard everything at the pool. I was definitely disappointed because these photos lie. Make sure you book anything but Basic room. I purchased two night stay and only did one, luckily I was able to get a refund.
Staff is kind and friendly, the bar/restaurant that is attached is nice and the food was great.
I just was not at all impressed with rooms. And if you are wanting a couples getaway this is not the place. Very kid friendly.

Hotel was nice when you walk in. Lots of extras. Room was not at all as pictured on website. Totally outdated, blinds on door fell off and getting them back on was difficult. Shower had major problems. Reserved to rooms - one shower bathtub filled up without draining while showering - other shower water temperature changed quickly while showering/extreme cold at times.

Website doesn’t show true pictures. This place is a dump. Funky smells, mold in bathroom. Carpet is gross. Spend your money elsewhere. The only good thing was the restaurant and they had Great food but they aren’t affiliated with the hotel.

For a remodeled hotel it was clean, comfortable and great price. The bed and furniture were new, the bathroom needs updating but perfectly functional. Staff was friendly and helpful. If I need to stay again while passing through Amarillo would satay again.

We always stay here in between our trips to texas from Wyoming and we love it. Its a fun, quirky, clean and friendly and hotel. Pet friendly is a must for us. Super accommodating.

Good front desk service. Room was cleaned well. We stayed a few years back before it was remodeled, it’s much nicer now.
Bathroom needs two things; fans for aiding in ventilation, and new curtains, as the ones they have don’t do well in stopping water getting outside of the shower.

Had a great stay all the staff was very nice and took care of anything we needed.

We always love staying at the Cactus Cove Inn. Great rooms for a great price and fun activities for the kids.

The ladies at the front desk went above and beyond helping with check in and check out. We will definitely stay here again

The room was spacious and comfortable. My only complaint would be we had trouble with the TV. We could only use the Roku remote and had a hard time adjusting the volume and stuff but rather than that it was a good stay. Friendly staff

Stayed here before and it is an older hotel that needs some updating but staff is friendly, rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Love extra activities such as pickleball court and corn hole and pool.
Negative- the shades on the windows do not close and there was a bright light outside our window so like sleeping with a bright light on
Other big negative is since our two stays a year ago, the breakfast now requires you to pay $9 to get eggs and bacon. The other food was adequate but the full breakfast made me come back here again. Might not do it again

Cute place, Lupe had it smelling nice and clean. “Free breakfast” was toast, bagel, waffle, yogurt or cereal, not the pictures of delicious meals they show when you book those meals are 8.99 each. That was disappointing. No good place for dogs to do their business. Still a cute place and atmosphere

Room faced parking lot/expressway. Nonstop noise all night from traffic and people hanging out in the parking lot. No place really to take dogs out except a strip of dirt next to access road in the parking lot which was covered in dog poop. Room was big and clean, staff friendly.

We were very impressed with everything. Our room was great. We had a fabulous dinner at your restaurant. The girl at the front desk was super. We will definitely be back.

Nice hotel overall. Can tell renovating slowly. Rooms were nice a bit noisy. Disappointed with the pool as it was closed down first night and then they had a private party the 2nd night for an outside party. No hot tub. The breakfast was lack luster unless u wanted to pay for a meal which wasn’t advertised at all. Tv kept buffering constantly making it very hard to watch anything at all. Hotel and rooms were clean. Prices were a bit higher at the restaurant/ club there. Main focus of the hotel seemed to be the club. Would stay there again once fully remodeled. Staff was friendly and helpful and liked the local goods they were selling.

Good idea but poor execution. I see what they’re trying to do renovating an old motel into something nicer, but they’re definitely cutting corners. The “new” room I stayed it looks like the contractor was a beginner, terrible carpentry. Don’t get me started with housekeeping trying to come into my room twice before checkout time, while we were getting dressed. The pool, the indoor pool. If you’re trying to sleep in, the loud ass kids taking a swim first thing in the morning is not going to help. The only reason to stay is that it’s cheap, that’s it.

The only thing we had an issue with was finding it. Signage was poor ... Restaurant sign lettering was bigger than the hotel's. Once inside it was older but pleasant. The pool area being used by people but it was not loud in our room. Restaurant was great! We would stay there again.

The WiFi did not work our entire stay. We had no internet and the TV didn’t work at all either because channels run off of ROKU. When we checked in, the hotel attendant didn’t even tell us there was a WiFi outage. We went to the hotel staff and they said they had just reset the WiFi and it should come on in an hour. Two hours later and WiFi still didn’t work. The complimentary breakfast you also get is well below average. Bagels, toast, cereal and a waffle machine is what is included.. If you want eggs, protein and potatoes, you have to pay $10. Not sure why they would just not include it all, or include none at all… The concept of the hotel is cool, but advertising complimentary breakfast and free WiFi was a total scam.

Very nice. Clean. Friendly. The attached restaurant was good, as was the made-to-order breakfast. Only one worker at the breakfast area for a good part of the time, and she did a great job!

This was the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I do not like to give bad reviews but the place needs to be condemned. Thw stairs are falling apart and there was dog poop everywhere. I get that it’s pet friendly but I would rather not have to dodge poop. We left at 3 am because people were leaning on our car so my husband slept in there until 3 and we left. I should get a refund for this horrible experience. So upset.

Good location. Room and bathroom were clean. Beds and pillows comfortable. We stayed here last year passing through Amarillo and again this year. No problems either time. Would stay again.

We enjoyed the pool, mini golf and the atmosphere. Everyone was so pleAsent and helpful.

The hotel itself looks great and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was VERY good. We were upset at check in to find the pool had been closed by the city of Amarillo which felt icky. The "free" breakfast left a lot to be desired, but of course they provided a better breakfast that could be purchased. Also the evening front desk staff was cold and honestly a little rude.

I love staying here when I come to Amarillo for work. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, nice pool, & great service! I would recommend staying here!

Nice updates. but the people above us were slamming doors until 3 am. Front desk didn't do anything to stop it.

Took a gamble to stay here instead of my usual hotel in Amarillo and was let down. The hotel is still going under renovations so there is a lot of work to be done at this place with light switches that don't work, missing paint and updating of the facilities. The open area was really nice with swings, a putting green and a fountain with fish in it. The hotel has a bar that fills up the parking lot so no real place to park at 9 pm. I think when they get it complete it will be a nice place but for now I will skip here for any other trip to Amarillo

Great stop for young kids to burn some energy and enjoy the indoor pool. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Restaurant on site WHC was delicious and worth a stop there on its own. Try the fried pickles!

It's my third time staying at this hotel. Aways a great nights rest! The television didn't work which was not a big deal for me but I was with my mom who needed to watch it and o wouldn't hear the end of it. Nice oasis in the middle of driving cross country.

It was an affordable, lively stay. The staff were efficient and very friendly. The building is a bit run down but it has a unique charm. Great for an overnight on a budget.

The room looked absolutely nothing like the pictures on the website. Everything was extremely run down and dirty. Paint patches everywhere, scratched and worn dresser and desk, the doors were flimsy and the light from the atrium area came through. The ceiling tiles were water stained . I know they are remodeling, but it would have been nice to be given the option of staying in a remodeled room.

Clean, quiet, fast check in, friendly staff, good breakfast, would stay again

Loved it, but the pool is basically just for kids, or adults who dont mind crouching the whole time they're in the water. Our room had a balcony but no access besides the window. Mild complaints, other than those things, EVERYTHING about this place is WONDERFUL 💖💖💖💖
