I wish we had a balcony ! Didn’t know there was a deposit but it was an amazing staff

The room was dirty needed to be dusted lamp had no light bulb a/c cover was broken
Bed was comfortable. There was supposed to have microwave there wasn’t. Looked like someone threw up behind the door. The bathroom was clean. The girls in house keeping kept me supplied with coffee pods, cups, water and clean towels. I stayed in the cabana petite little disappointed. Next time I’ll get vintage room.

Clean, albeit small room, but perfect for my needs. Simple and got the job done.

Check-in was a little rough. The staff seemed new. Room was really nice. Had to call to get someone to fix our AC. They fixed it quickly. Overall our stay was great!

Hotel is a block out of The Fremont Experience, and is, hands down, the best hotel downtown I've stayed at in the past ten years. Got a room in the "quiet" side as even on a Thursday late, Fremont was still happening. Room wss clean and every staff person was helpful and friendly. Casino floor had some newer games, and some really cool OG games I haven't aeen in a while. Plenty if security, felt very safe. Overall I rate Fremont a better experience than the Strip. El Cortez is worth checking in to.

Absolutely love the Cortez! We stay on Fremont about a dozen times a year and try to stay at the Cortez as much as we can.

The most major problem was one of the two elevators being down. Otherwise it was great.

We loved the retro room!

Everything was great except for one small problem. The shower heat knob did not work well. The water was hot enough, but I couldn’t get it hotter like I wanted to. Could not get the water cold either. Our room number was 1008

Loved my room and the property but the incredibly loud bass from the open air club, Commonwealth, across the street shakes the rooms in the tower facing downtown until 3-4 am. It sucks. I'd stay again but never in a South facing room.

Really loved my room, especially the window in the shower that opens for ventilation. Late at night during my shower. I opened the window and listened to the music playing on the streets outside. It was wonderful. The room seems well kept up and clean. This was my first ever trip to las vegas and I think I made a great choice deciding to stay near Fremont street as opposed to on the strip. El Cortez seemed understaffed (as most places are now). We went to eat at the restaurant around midnight and we were told it would be a 30 minute wait to be seated, while half of the tables in the restaurant were vacant.

The hotel was very nice . I enjoyed seeing how it was in a sense antique but very well kept . The table games were awesome. Plus I hit a straight flush lol. They attended me and my finance very well and left with a great experience

We always enjoy El Cortez. I asked for an upper room so we don't hear the noise on Fremont Street. Hopefully next time we are above the 12th floor where it's quieter!

Room: 5550, low water pressure, Heat and A/C not working. Poor lighting in shower. Check in three times before room ready, 12, 1, and 2. Finally ready at 2:40. Room card not programmed correctly, elevator did not work. Had to come back. No shuttle from airport but advertised on website. LOUD, even earplugs did not help.

Extremely small room. Building across the street. Bad area.

Well I stayed in The Tower rooms. although very nice of the two elevators for the Tower only one worked on almost week long stay, no one ever said anything, or no signs, it was just blocked off made it very time consuming traversing the elevator every time you wanted to go some where. Said something to the staff at the Hotel desk, and they wouldn't even acknowledge the problem or apologize for the in convince. Also Hotel is next to a very noisy night club that don't quit playing the music until around 2 am, very difficult to get any sleep - Housekeeping did a great job,

Great stay in cabana, 2 nights. Seperate building behind casino but pretty quiet for the most part.

The room was clean and spacious. All guest have to present I.D and wear a band for the entire stay. One elevator working so there was a wait to enter and leave the hotel. The room was fresh but the rest of the hotel was humid.

Wonderful old school hotel casino away from the mass crowds on the strip. Friendly folks and a nice casino. Our room was an excellent value although the Fremont Street party was way too loud for way too late.

Cabana Suites excellent room ! Very comfortable and quiet floor. 👍Will definitely stay again in the near future.

The new updated rooms are really nice, only potential awkward update to the room was the bathroom there is a frosted glass door for the toilet/shower area and no other door so anyone in the room can see you throw the door. So just keep in mind when sharing a room.
Our 1st room had bed bugs, that we noticed before getting into bed at 3am, the hotel worked as fast as they could to get us moved into a new room but the when we asked for a compensation for at least the 1st night due to the bugs and the inconvenience I was told since I booked through a 3rd party all they good do was refund the $27 amenities fee. Very disappointing

put us in the building called bungalow I think. Lipstick on a pig. quiet and cheap. that's it.

Spent a lot of time in my room because I came down with a cold and fever. While the bathroom was tidy, the shower was in need of a serious cleaning. The coffee maker needed to be wiped down and the towels were stained.

We stayed in the Cabana Suites. Got there on Friday, left on Saturday. Great Trip

First time staying there and it was a very nice surprise. Old school atmosphere but with appropriate updates and renovations. Close to Fremont Street but far enough away to not hear all the activity through the night. I will be staying there again next time I visit Vegas…

We stayed 2 nights here, and chose this hotel for its location more than anything. We weren’t looking for a big glitzy casino or many frills and if you’re also looking for a simple and convenient place to stay the El Cortez might fit the bill.
The good: Room was spacious. We asked for a room on the north side of the Tower (got #306), and it was very quiet. Mini fridge worked. Sheets and towels were clean. Room was clean, although with the fairly recent remodel I didn’t expect the level of wear on some of the furniture and surfaces. The black tiles and dark shower head in the bathroom also showed a lot hard water stains.
The not-so-good: The A/C didn’t seem to work in the room at all and it remained stuffy & too warm at 75 all weekend regardless of what we set it to. No toiletries were provided other than a tiny round of soap and a tiny tube of hand lotion. One of the 2 elevators to the tower rooms was out and sometimes there was a wait to use the working one. We were charged a $23.95 “amenities fee” per night even though we did not receive any amenities. We didn’t even drink the little waters in the room or use the wifi. When I asked upon checkout about waiving the fee I was told it is not negotiable. I realize that this has become standard at many hotels but it doesn’t make it any less rapacious, particularly when I can’t tell what the “amenities” that I’m being charged for even are.
All in all it was okay but I don’t think we’ll be back.

The people here make this great hotel even better. From the maids and front desk people to the dealers and servers throughout the casino, this place was amazing.

I believe this is the cleanest room I have ever stayed in, from the toilet to walls and floors. Beautiful decorated. Peaceful scene with the metal tiles on the ceiling and vibrant wall paper. Just beautiful!!

Room was clean and tidy.
Shower bathroom is all tile which is nice enough. There was some obvious hard water soap build up spots I feel could've been eliminated with a little more effort.

The water was amazing, hot and pressure. The room was decent. It served its purpose
The only problem was our room was right by the night life that didnt stop till 5am

The front desk was not clear about giving direction to our room, the hotel was very noisy. The lighting in the room was not good, called the front desk to get the TV working and replace a light bulb on one of the lamps.

Since Covid shutdown seems the house keeping has gotten really lax.
Wads of hair in shower.

Fun stay and I loved the history! Great location downtown and also enjoyed the casino here.

I wanted to love my stay so much because I really do love El Cortez’s casino. This was our first time staying there and I hated our room. We were in the Pavilion tower and the room was not great. It’s dated, which is what I expected but the toilet/shower area was awful. The shower floor was very worn looking and I couldn’t tell if it was clean because the light in that room was so dim. No hand towel towels in room. Safe did not work. Beds were extremely tall which might be fine for most but I am short. They were very firm. Other than the room, I love this place.
