The 1863 restaurant is now open, serving an excellent breakfast. We were even given a voucher for one meal because we stay at the Wyndham so often.
We weren't happy with our room, but the staff easily gave us a different one.
The communication between Booking.com and Wyndham is weak. Every time we book with Booking.com, we request a room with mobility access/hearing impaired. However, the last two times we arrived, Wyndham had not received that request.

I liked the old details that they put in the hotel… the old chairs, a nice piano, the cannon when you first walked in was pretty cool.
When we were checking in the staff at the front desk didn’t seem too happy and could barley hear what she was saying to us. One of the hotel rooms that we got had garbage underneath the coffee maker next to the closet and the bottle must have been there for awhile because it even had dust on it. Other than those two things, everything else was excellent.

Nothing, management is horrible!!! Need to compensate us for lost bug infested items!!
BED BUGS in room 435! My wife my son and myself stayed at this hotel August 28th,29th, 30th in room 435. We didn’t notice the bed bugs until the morning of the 30th in the bed my son was sleeping in. It’s very unsettling that the room was not properly inspected before checking in guests. It’s a very disgusting, traumatizing experience to go through and still going through for fear of have bringing the BED BUGS home with us. They did refund us for the nights we stayed but it still doesn’t seem enough. This is from obvious incompetence from the management to inspect the rooms and make sure they are safe for unsuspecting guests with children. Even with every precaution taken when we got home to decontaminate it’s a waiting game to see if we brought them home. I hope this review helps people to make an educated decision before booking at this BED BUG infested hotel.

Proximity to downtown.
That was one tiny TV for that big room. We thought it was funny.

Location was out of town.
Beds and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. The hotel had all kinds of people there dressed in costume. The halls downstairs were taking over by them. Tables set up by them etc....the costumes and atmosphere made my children and myself very uncomfortable. We were suppose to be there 5 nights and ended up leaving after 1 night. It was very upsetting.

Beautiful hotel, very clean

Close enough to downtown Gettysburg
Our room didn’t have toilet paper we had to use flushable wipes until they could bring us some, no daily house keeping you have to order it 24 hours in advance which I wasn’t informed prior to check in and I was told that it was to talk to request it.
Trash cans had no liners in it had to use shopping bags. The pub doesn’t have a mix drink menu nor do they serve coffee after breakfast.
Wasn’t a very good experience. You get more bang for buck at Holiday Inn Express. Clean, dove products, microwave, fridge in the rooms, daily housekeeping.

Size, decoration, comfort and ambiance of the toom.
Plumbing issue with dripping sink taps in bathroom. Shower was handicapped accessible with no lip or rim on the floor to impede shower water from flowing out of the shower and flooding the bathroom floor. Contributing to this issue was the fact that the shower curtain was not long enough to reach the tile floor, being approximately six inches short. In addition, the drain in the center of the bathroom floor was incapable of draining the shower overflow. This resulted in a large puddle of shower water pooling on the bathroom floor. The result, when one had to use the toilet in the middle of the night, getting to that appliance, one felt like they were wading in Lake Erie
According to the web, this hotel has 248 guest rooms. We require handicapped parking but saw only 7 handicapped spaces. Several nights, returning from dinner, we found all handicapped spaces occupied, necessities parking our vehicle further from the hotel. For one of us, that trek was uncomfortable, and detracted from the overall pleasure of our stay.
Given the proportion of handicapped parking spots to total number of guest rooms gives me pause to wonder if the hotel, when designating handicapped parking spaces for guest parking, adhered to the minimum standards set forth in the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, 42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq. (1990).

Breakfast was great until we got the bill, After the front desk telling us it was a complementary breakfast when we first checked in.
In the end they did rectify it for us and said that they have had a new front desk person and this isn’t the first time they heard people say they thought breakfast was complementary
I didn’t like that the fire alarm went off at 10pm and when we evacuated I over heard that that there was 3 older people that were stuck on the 6th floor and couldn’t make it down, So we told the front desk person and he didn’t do nothing at all. So being a firefighter I had to go back into the property with the fire alarms going off to help them get evacuated. After we got them to safety I then went back in to make sure the reaming floors didn’t have anyone stuck.
Which I’m glad I did because the when the fire department did show up he was one guy and just reset the panel and left. Very poor response from the fire department

It's a Pet friendly hotel.
The room was dirty. Not vacuumed, dead bugs on the windows, bathroom shower grout disgusting. The beds were not comfortable. The hotel was very noisy. My room rate was different each night, therefore, I was over charged. I doubt I will stay there again.

gorgeous and new-looking on the exterior
For the entirety of my stay I was disturbed by some kind of conference or retreat that had children running around (bumping into me more than once), and despite adults being all around no one attempted to corral the misbehaving kids. as my stay went on, the disturbances of this group got worse and worse. The group appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent and a great deal of them didn’t speak/understand English. I was told by my daughter (who lives in Gettysburg) how nice the hotel was. when she came to spend some time with me she apologized for the noisy and disruptive fellow guests. I hope the hotel thinks long and hard before they agree (or, preferably, NOT agree) to allow that large group of people to basically take over all of the public space on the first floor—the lobby included.
