We liked that it was close to Houston. It had self parking but you still had to pay a considerable fee for it considering it wad self pay. We liked that we had two queen beds in our room. We brought scooters for the kids and they enjoyed riding them around.
Not very many good food options and what was available was incredibly overpriced. We had called 2-3 weeks in advance to change our room to a specific location in the resort and the person we talked didn’t would be no problem, but when we checked in, nothing had been changed. The top of that, the manager we talked to told me I was basically making up the conversation, not in those exact words. This specific experience put a very bad start to our trip.
The resort sells itself for several activities for families, but the ones that are memorable are very costly, on top of a very costly stay to start with.

The day we went down for breakfast the only option that was available was McDade's Coffee Emporium & Ice Cream Saloon and menu items from Firewheel Cafe. This is a vast resort with many activities. The in room TV guest services/amenities was lacking. There needs to be a map of the resort that indicates where you are and what activities are available and options to book from the TV. The Food and Beverage options should be also be on the TV and should let you see the menu and alert you about reservations for them. While we were there over the Labor Day weekend until Tuesday we ended up eating lunch and dinner at Shellers Barrelhouse Bar two days in a row because we were not informed that on Monday, that all but two F&B outlets would be closed for dinner. Those two options were Shellers, where we had already eaten three times and they have a very limited selection, and on the third day they were out of several of our choices and Scribes which has an even smaller selection of nibbles. Needless to say that had we been aware of these closures we could have made other choices for dining in the establishments earlier in our stay. Very poor communication with guest on when the amenities would not be available. We managed to book into Scratch Sushi to celebrate our 31st anniversary and we dined at Stories. Stories seemed to be overrated we had no idea that we needed to reserve a table, so we walked up and had a look inside, there were many open tables but when we asked about availability we were made to wait 20 minutes while hostess staff had a turnover, and the new hostess coming on seated a family of four ahead of us that did not have a reservation because there was no communication between the two hostesses that we were waiting for a table, it was not until we approached the new hostess was she aware and at that point she said they could not fit us in because the chef was moody.
After waiting about 5 more minutes she was finally able to seat us, and there were still numerous tables open. Stories.. The lack of tablecloths and the brassy bronze cutlery were not appealing for such an establishment. We also found that the fact that we were guests of the resort with a $40/ day resort fee tacked on and $40/ day fee for valet or $18/day fee for self parking that was extremely far from the room was absolutely ridiculous, in a vast sprawling property such as this those fees for paying guest were more than you see in most cities. The lack of any shuttles to the spa was noted. We had no idea where it was located in relation to our room and when we asked how to get there were pointed down the main drive and told to just keep going until we saw it on the left. I have no idea what the distance was, but it was very hot, and we had almost past it before we could see the sign on the building due to the height of the foliage. So we were hot and sweaty and had to rush to have our intended relaxing couples massage. We wanted to partake in the archery but never found where that was, but were told we had to book it in advance. Who knew? The lack of proper signage for the restaurants and activities was noted. We have frequented many Hyatt hotels around the world and this one was overpriced and lacking. We paid the same price for our room on the weekdays with no amenities as we did over the weekend with the few amenities we were able to utilize!!!There is so much more I can say but the lack of space is preventing me from going on. Would not recommend for special momentous occasions.

Everyone was extremely helpful. The grounds are meticulous. The atmosphere is so calm.
The staff did not know where the activites were so we had to walk around the property to find archery and ax throwing.

The breakfast choices were good. The location can’t be beat. The choice of services was good. We absolutely loved the spa! Everyone was so willing to help. Access to everything was great.
The services were sooo expensive! The upstairs restaurant was closed on a Monday! The adult outdoor pool at the spa needs to have better shade for the guest. The umbrellas are tattered. Need more waitresses at the restaurant. Everyone has a training badge. Paying for parking! The gutters where the jacuzzi is at the spa on the mens side is filled with debris. $4 for an ice cream cone?? No live music for the adults. $28 to use the golf range? There are nice things to purchase at the spa and Pro Shop but they are so expensive for the budget minded families.

The fact that we could pay a little more for a later checkout due to late plane.
Long story short, no delivery of anything 30 mins after our order, as promised. Still no dinner by 7:45, at 8:10 we went to the only little shop and bought sandwiches in a plastic box. So this the only restaurant open at dinner,we were very patient, they ended up bringing dinner to our room. It too was wrong, but by then we had consumed a good portion of our sandwiches.
Bellman/ valet were terrible

Clean room, nice, and quiet. Nice pool area.
Animal handlers were not welcoming. Pool area could have been cleaned and better maintained throughout the day.

The spa & toddler pool had black mold. Our room was not cleaned during our 4 night stay.. The pool was quite small (for young kids only)

I've noticed when when we use booking we don't always get the room we asked for. They gave us a handicap room on the far floor. Hyatt was nice, food limited. Won't return.

All of the family friendly activities. Beautiful property.
During our dinner, staff repeatedly delivered my drink to different patrons causing me to wait 45 minutes to recieve my drink order. Then another random diner vomited on the floor next to our table and on my husbands pants and shoes. Staff did not clean it up they simply put chairs around it and moved us to another table. We promptly paid our bill and left.

The lazy river and pina coladas. The bikes to get around the resort were nice. Kids enjoyed the games around the resort. The scavenger hunt was fun, but staff picked up early once again, so no prize for the kids.
Staff was slightly rude, when spending a small fortune, you would think they would all be so nice and accommodating. Staff would leave animal stations before scheduled time. My son fell off one of their bikes, but we still had 20 minutes of their scheduled time to see the animals, but she said they had to go back early. Would say animals were out for a private event and we could not come up to them, when no one is around. So my $500 a night wasn't good enough for my son to touch the animals. Food at the pool bar closes too early. Food was mediocre and overpriced anyway. The day we go golfing, there is no cart service. We quit early because we would've died from thirst and dehydration.

The lazy River and the remodeled rooms
The grounds were full of weeds, looked unkept. Not manicured, the pool area was unkept and dirty.
Restaurants not open long enough. Pool bar and food closed too early. No movie nights during the week. Fire wheel cafe no buffet. Food was poor.

The property is SO accommodating for families of young children!

The food was absolutely awful! Equivalent to a roadside diner. Morning coffee was great but breakfast was ordinary at best. Lunch and dinner was so disappointing that we considered leaving the property for both (after sampling the first two days).
