When we arrived to check in, I found the staff rude and awkward. The room was clean and comfortable and was suitable for a one-night stay.
Breakfast was to be served between 8 and 9 am. However, no staff turned up to make all the rooms breakfast or to check people out.
The bar hadn't been cleared from the previous night, curtains drawn, and a table was flipped over (probably why there was shouting at 3 am).
As we were about to leave a couple of staff members arrived and apologised and we were told we were to receive a refund.
Still, no refund was given, and the place is ignoring me.

Our bedroom which overlooked the main road, was large, clean and ? newly decorated.
We were compensated for the unavailable breakfast (see below)
Advertised as b&b , on one morning the pub was shut up with no sign of any staff so no breakfast, Phoning the mobile number was useless.Likewise, without warning, food was not available on Tuesday evenings only drinks. The only place to get food in the village was the local fish and chip shop so having already had a couple of drinks preventing us from driving to Pickering we had to accept that. At least six couples called into the pub while we were in there looking for a meal so there is obviously a need for a pub/ restaurant in the area. We believe the majority of the rooms were occupied so a lost opportunity to improve the turnover. Staff ,? the landlord ,was rude when we finally managed to speak to him about the problems and he seemed intent on running away and not listening to us Service was very slow with a very limited breakfast selection. Until the management up their game John Cleese and Fawlty Towers comes to mind.

The staff were lovely, worked really hard. The New Inn is a old building we loved the fact it was a proper pub. The food was delicious. Its set in a lovely area with plenty of walking if you wish.
The prices are very reasonable to eat and drink there.
Unfortunately the pedestrian crossing right outside our room...its the only one in the village and constant all day...thankfully not much on night. The road was a lot busier than we thought a village rd would be...but the lorries start like clockwork at 5.30am..not the pubs fault obviously but didn't sleep great. But would go back would just request a back room.

Location, staff and room was excellent
The room got really warm we struggled to open the window to let some fresh air in. Also one of the dryers must of been broken in the toilet below, that was quite noisy going on and off all the time.
