About this apartment rental

THE AFONSO HENRIQUES MOUSTACHE HOME The mustache is something that is in the history of the Portuguese, in the past it was common to associate it with the women of the villages, the taxi drivers and the police, among others. Today we are prettier but the mustache is still in our imagination. The name of this house is a tribute to the oldest mustache owner of the country, D. Afonso Henriques the first King of Portugal. This house is located in one of the oldest and most typical neighborhoods of the city, the São Jorge Castle neighborhood, conquered by the Moors in 1147 by D. Afonso Henriques. Now it's your turn to conquer the charms of Lisbon, start the day with the magnificent view of the city and the river from the window, go out to visit the emblematic monuments, smell the smells of traditional foods and the soul of fado. Do not be afraid to exhaust your energy, because at the end of the day you can rest while drinking a nice glass of Portuguese red wine, in a comfortable house, where the rooms have beds with high comfort orthopedic mattresses and everything you need, as if were in their own home. Share this experience with family or friends, this fantastic home can accommodate up to 6 people. Neighborhood Castelo one of the oldest districts of Lisbon and through which many mustaches of all social classes and nationalities have passed through history. Few cities in Europe allow you to enjoy a house that is almost inside a medieval castle. The narrow streets make it easy to get to know the neighborhood, quick access to all points of interest and even the other historic neighborhoods on the castle hill, such as Alfama. Find smiles around every corner and wet your mustache in unforgettable snacks whenever you can. Fall in love with the fantastic view and the river that carries the spirit of Lisbon. And if you want to know other places, don't worry it's all close to you, transport to any other historical area, to the beaches or Sintra are just a few minutes. But before leaving far away you can not miss: - São Jorge Castle: Imagine yourself a king and discover this building that protects the city with more than ten centuries, one of the seven hills of Lisbon not to be missed.. - Mouraria: a neighborhood that seems to have people from all over the world, a true cultural and gastronomic rainbow. - Portas do sol viewpoint: It is an open balcony type space that will record this city and our river forever in your heart. From here you can observe the labyrinthine streets of the Alfama district, as well as some emblematic monuments. Get ready for superb views. - Sé de Lisboa: an iconic church of the city, built after the conquest of the city by the Moors by D. Afonso Henriques. It is an imposing building in which you can observe a mix of architectural styles, classified as a National Monument since 1910.. - Azurara Palace: a beautiful space that exposes and boosts the Portuguese Decorative Arts, contains a collection of these unique arts in the country.. - Casa dos Bicos - José Saramago Foundation Headquarters: the house that probably has the most original façade of this area of the city, if not the entire city. Casa dos Bicos is where José Saramago Foundation operates today, which hosts the works and a permanent exhibition on the life of the writer, Nobel Prize for Literature. Also in this building you can visit the Archaeological Center of the Museum of the City of Lisbon, with a fantastic collection that goes through the history of the city since the Roman occupation until the eighteenth century. A few more minutes on foot or by taking tram 28, you can visit: - National Pantheon: monument where are buried historical figures of the country, such as the fearless Vasco da Gama or the fiva diva Amália Rodrigues; - Flea Market: (second-hand objects market) on Tuesdays and Saturdays; São Vicente Convent: a beautiful space with a breathtaking view of the city. - Fado Museum and Portuguese Guitar: This is for sure a different museum, with instruments, history, culture and one of the best ways to understand the “nostalgia” that inspires this musical style.. - Tile Museum: Pottery is one of the oldest and most interesting activities in the country, in this museum you can learn the history and see some of the most fascinating examples of this industry.

Such a great apartment with beautiful views and within walking distance of the castle. Apartment was clean upon arrival and host was easily accessible via text before and throughout our stay. Great location to explore other Lisbon neighborhoods. We throughly enjoyed our stay here while in Alfama. This apartment is a gem!

Feliciadade was so kind and helpful. She personally met us at check-in and spent an hour talking to us about the different things to see and do. Then she texted me later with more ideas. She was very helpful getting us a taxi to pick us up a couple times which was INVALUABLE since we do not speak the language. She had delicious fresh baked bread for us and a couple pantry items as well. The apartment has AMAZING views. You do have to climb 4 sets of stairs to get up to the apartment, so if you cannot do that, this may not be the place for you, but Feliciadade has other properties, so contact her for more options. The building is very old, but comfortable and even has a washer if you need to wash clothes. The main floor bathroom is very small, but totally works. Our son stayed with us and used the second floor as his own. That area also has it's own door and key if you need to make that work if you have several people staying here. The location was very close to St. George's Castle and the bus stop is right across the street for easy travel throughout the city. We had a great time! Thank you so much Feliciadade!!

The location of the duplex apartment was ideal for us, as we needed the extra space for 2 adults to sleep separately. Great views, well equipped, clean and comfortable, it was a good choice for a good value place to stop for a few nights. The Baixa district is a 10 min walk via the lifts behind the castle, and the 28E tram was just outside to get around. We had the added bonus of the 'meeting point' for the 'Treasures of Lisboa' food tour was just around the corner too. Highly recommended too. Felicidade kept us informed about the booking, and helped us with a restaurant booking, and transfers. Thank you

We stayed here with another couple and had a great time. Good location in the old town, close to many sites. Quite a few steps up to the apartment but nice place and quiet.

What a wonderful place to stay! While the four flights up without an elevator/lift were hard, the view is great, the location is super central to everything and the little touches provided by Felicidade were so appreciated! The folder on the table has TONS of info to help you go and do anything. Really enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at this beautiful apartment this August and were impressed from the moment we walked inside and saw the amazing view of the Alfama neighborhood below via the two open double doors. The main floor is open and bright with a comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen, and roomy eating area. My 3 teenage children adored the loft where the 3 slept comfortably and had their own washroom. The location was great - a few meters from the top of a set of stairs that winds through the Alfama district. We hope to return in the future.

We loved our stay in Lisbon—this apartment was perfect for me and my husband and our 3 teenagers. Kids got the second level to themselves, which they loved. Quick walk to lots of shops and restaurants. Views from the apartment were great. Felicidade was very helpful in making transportation arrangements as well as answering any and all of my questions. Thanks for a terrific experience!!
