Jorge's apartment was fantastic. The location was just the best, you are right in the middle of all the night life! However, remarkably, it's incredibly quiet with the windows closed. Besides the many flights of stairs to get up to the apartment, everything else is really nice. It was clean, comfortable beds, good A/C, coffee was provided, as well as toilet paper, paper towels and shampoo. We had a little issue upon arrival, door was locked and no-one there to greet us, Here, the communication could have been better. The restaurant owner across the street, Antonio, came to our rescue, setting us up with a nice outdoor table, a bottle of wine, and also called the owner to help us. There were circumstances beyond the owner's control preventing him from meeting us upon arrival, but there was plenty of time to send an email warning us of the situation. It was an issue, but in the end, a very small one. The other issue we had was that at the pillows and bedding were "Down" filled and two of our quests have allergies to down. Other than that, everything was wonderful. When we return, we will definitely stay at Jorge's place again!

Beautiful apartment in a neighborhood close to a famous bakery of the Portuguese specialty, Pastel de Nata, and other good restaurants. Thoughtful hosts have stocked the apartment with full compliment of kitchen needs and coffee pods, tea, sugar and a bottle of wine. Appreciated that the host representative met us at the site and gave us a hand with getting our bags up to the fourth floor.

Nice location, looks like pictures, little noise in front rooms at night but bedrooms quiet. Well appointed but could use a small microwave, and the shower temps take some patience to adjust. Lots of great restaurants in the area and convenient to Praca Camoes. I would stay again.

He gave us a very thoughtful welcome gift and great recommendations. I took the car suite and my brother took the dog suite. Was very comfortable with lots of character, yet clean and modern. The ac worked great. Couldn’t beat the location. Waking distance to everything and party right outside our door, yet quiet when windows are closed. Can’t wait to return!

Absolutely beautiful apartment in Barre Alto area of Lisbon. The apartment is very clean and well taken care of. The neighborhood is it's own experience, full of positive energy. I have never worked with such gracious hosts. We will definitely be back and will plan a longer stay.

This was one of our very favorite European VRBO experiences. The neighborhood was delightful - full of nightlife and activity. But our bedrooms were totally silent. We loved having air conditioning. It was a heat wave while we were in town. And we enjoyed the layout of the apartment - lots of privacy and a nice pullout couch for our 14 year old. Our hosts were also kind and accommodating. I really can’t say nice enough things about them and the whole stay!

This was a very comfortable, well located apartment. You are steps away from tons of restaurants and shops. The host was responsive, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this place.

We had a wonderful time. Their property is in a great neighborhood, and if you enjoy music and late night restaurants/bars this has that. Our hosts communicated in advance, during and after our stay. 5 stars.

This place could not have been more perfect for our two couples. It was roomy and with 2 primary suites we had our own private space with a main living area to enjoy each others company. We would stay here again in a heartbeat should we come to Lisbon again!

We had a great stay at the property. Apartment is very spacious, bedrooms are located on the opposite sides on the apartment so it would be a great place for 2 couples. AC was a necessity as it was very hot outside so it helped to sleep at night. Few important notes: Uber doesn't come to the door of the building and drops you off of a major street so it you have big and heavy suitcases be prepared to walk on the cobblestone road for a few minutes up the hill to the apartment building. Same would apply to the apartment itself, its on the top floor so at least 7+ flights of stairs. Door to the building is very narrow so it would be difficult for a larger person to comfortably walk in/out. Furniture in the living room could probably use a steam cleaning. Overall, nothing major that would keep me from staying there again. Very cute apartment.

Check in was simple and João gave us a welcome gift of the local custard tarts (they’re magical) and recommended local restaurants & cafes (we tried palacio chiado and it was great). all the sights are walkable or a 10-15 min uber ride away (belem) the house is exactly as described and better than any vrbo we’ve visited... honestly better than any hotel we’ve visited. it’s beautifully decorated and has all the amenities. we stayed with another couple and there is more than enough room for four people. often when you rent you’re out all day and night but this place was so great we spent the evenings at the house enjoying drinks and playing cards with the windows open to hear the all the local activity below. Leaving Lisbon before we’re ready to and want to come back... and when we do we will only stay here. You won’t regret staying here and you won’t want to leave!

Amazing place. Modern, clean, fantastic location in the heart of the city. Would stay again and recommend to anyone/group looking for great home base in Lisbon.

Lovely property, exactly as advertised and located in a lively, busy central part of the old town. Joao, the owner's brother was delayed which held up the check-in process but then proved to be very friendly and easily accessible with lots of good ideas. He also gave us a detailed tour of the loft which proved helpful. The neighborhood is brimming with bars and restaurants and the night life very active and noisy. We were able to keep the windows closed at night which cut out the street noise. In the summer it may be a bit of a challenge to try to sleep with the windows open. The taxi coming from the airport had some difficulties finding the apartment, being on a little street but the central location made it easy to get around. Overall, if you want to be in the thick of Lisboa happenings, this is the place to rent.

One of the best restaurants in Lisbon only a block or two away - you need to try A Nossa CasaIt was a well equipped apartment and no issues at all !Enjoy

This property is beautiful. It is open and spacious. Both bedrooms have their own private bathrooms. We only stayed one night but wish we had planned longer. Jorge’s brother met us to check in and gave us a full detailed tour of the apartment. He even took the time to talk with us and give us recommendations on dinner and night life around us which was amazing because we were only there for one night and wanted to make the best of it. We will defiantly be booking with Jorge again next year when we visit!

Wow! Perfect place for two couples! Everything was amazing! It’s 4 flights up but the place is ultra cool, has every amenity you would want and has all the luxury you need! Highly recommend this place!!!! Amazing!!!

The apartment was great, very clean, very modern. The owner's brother, Joao, who was super nice met us at the apartment to check us in. Not only was Joao very efficient with checking us in he gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and drink...he even brought pasteis de nata from the bakery around the corner which were incredible. Despite the apartment being right in the Bario Alto it was very quite with the windows closed. Because of the retractable car barriers in the Bario Alto our cab driver had a hard time getting us to the front door. It's much easier to get dropped off at the Praca Luis de Camoes (the 24 and 28 trams also stop there), and walk the one block up and one block over to get to the apartment. We would certainly stay there again.

We had a lovely stay in the loft apartment, which is decorated to a very high standard. Everything was spotless clean. Kitchen had everything needed for cooking, not that we had the need to cook with all the restaurants on our door step. We were welcomed by Jorge’s brother with local pastries and Nespeesso coffee. We were able to leave our bags at the apartment after our check out. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and we hope to be back soon.

This place was better than expected. Beautiful decor and very comfortable space. I love the fact that the two rooms are far way from each other. The bathroom and bedroom were big compare to rooms in Europe. I stayed here in January, 2019 and the location was perfect. Very convenience to walked everywhere. Joao welcome us to the condo and he was extremely nice. He made some recommendations for some good restaurants and he was very attentive to any of our request. I highly recommend this place if you are staying in Lisboa, Portugal.

Jorge and Joao were the most wonderful hosts for our short stay at Casa da Barroca. The apartment is in the most convenient area, with bars, restaurants, and sights a walkable distance in every direction. Joao gave us incredible recommendations for all of the above. We loved the apartment and Lisbon and were not ready to leave!

We arrived in Lisbon for our last 2 nights in Portugal before flying home to California and absolutely loved the convenient location of this apartment off one of the main squares and in the heart of a lively historic neighborhood with wonderful bars and restaurants. The owner's brother (who speaks impeccable English!) met us, helped us carry our luggage up the 5 flights! of stairs and stayed to answer all our questions and make suggestions on where to eat and what to visit. He even went way beyond the call of duty to seek out packaging tape for my girlfriend so she could mail some packages home. The apartment itself was lovely! Beautiful, remodeled and luxurious bathrooms, quiet location of bedrooms and light and open living areas and kitchen. I would definitely recommend this apartment and would book it again when I visit Lisbon.
