Six adults stayed a the property, which was in the perfect location in Astoria. If had a great view of the river, the ships and pilot boats, and the seals. Everything was in walking distance. We cooked in each night and the only negative I had was that the "gourmet kitchen" wasn't really gourmet. There wasn't a pot big enough to make seafood stew, for instance, and there were a number of items you should find in a normal kitchen that just weren't there. I don't really mark them down for this, as we rarely find a kitchen that is well stocked with cooking utensils, etc., but felt I should point it out. Otherwise the beds were comfortable, the music system was great, the fireplace was warm, and the view was spectacular.

The Pilot House was very comfortable for our family get together. We thoroughly enjoyed the view of the river traffic & sea lions, and the easy walk to town and the Maritime Museum.

Beautiful property - perfect for a 3 couple weekend. Great location - parking was a plus. Pictures accurately show the beauty of the property and location - might be better live.

I've been wanting to stay here for a couple of years. It lived up to all I had hoped even during a rainy October weekend. We absolutely will be back!

6 girlfriends stayed there for 2 nights, and wished we had stayed longer. Location is an easy access to town, lots of great shops and eateries within walking distance. The place was wonderfully appointed, with a great view and comfortable surroundings.

The property was exactly as the pictures depict! You cannot beat the location and unique property. The views were so incredible and even had sea lions swimming by for entertainment!! A huge great common area for all of us to gather, with fully appointed kitchen, dining table, and plenty of seating for lounging. It was perfect having three bedrooms with queen and king beds with three full baths for couples to get ready and have our space. Absolutely loved our stay and would recommend to anyone!!

We were in town for a wedding. Loved the location, uniqueness of the building and view of the Columbia. We got to talk to some of the river pilots and learn about the ships.

The Pilot house is absolutely a perfect place to stay! I was celebrating my birthday with family, could not have been a better spot. House is immaculate, so comfortable and well designed. The view is unbeatable, we loved watching the Pilot boat go out to the ships. This was our first stay and certainly not our last! Cheers until our next visit!

Oh my goodness. If you have the chance to stay here, do it! We love the Astoria area, but staying in the Pilot House has effectively spoiled us for all future vacations! As we returned home to Indiana, one of our boys said 'well, it's not the Pilot House, but it's home'.
The location is perfect, the views are amazing and the hosts have thought of about every single thing you could want or need. The light from all the windows makes the space feel even larger than it is. The kitchen has everything you need in it, although we walked to the many great coffee shops and restaurants right downtown most of the time.
I can't say it enough...if you're going to Astoria, stay here! (unless it's when we want to stay there, lol)

Quick overnight stay for family of 7 and can’t wait to stay again. The view and experience were amazing. The house was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. Highly recommend!!

Three siblings and spouses came together for my brother’s daughter’s wedding in Astoria. Families of both bride and groom were staying nearby. This was a perfect place for impromptu gatherings of family who had not seen each other for a long time. It was particularly spacious and beautiful. All who visited marveled at the views of the Columbia River and were interested in the history and current nautical functions of the pilot boats.
The living and dining areas were so capacious that when the restaurant where we were to have our rehearsal dinner had gotten the date wrong, we were able to accommodate everyone for dinner—ordered in on the spot. It was better than a sit down restaurant dinner as everyone could move around, chat and serve themselves.
We also appreciated the comfortable beds and private bedrooms as well as the well-stocked kitchen. We had everything we needed, especially many ways of making coffee.
We made a particular effort to follow all instructions and leave everything as desired by the hosts. When, after leaving, I received an email from them, I was anticipating being thanked for our careful treatment of the property. My one disappointment was that this email told me that they were missing a robe and I would have to send it back or pay for it. Two minutes later I received another email saying “Oh, they found it,” with no apology. I had not hung it back in the closet so that they would know it had been worn. A bit of a hasty and unconsidered message.

I stayed here with my spouse for 3 nights. We think this might be the best place we have ever rented. The setting is magical, with the beautiful historic town behind you and huge, international ships passing right by your windows in front. Watching the river pilots was a highlight of the trip. I recommend downloading an app so you can see what ships are out there, where they are from, etc. It is so interesting, and there is something going on 24 hours a day. The setting is peaceful and serene.
The apartment is shiny and spotless and very nicely decorated. There are several interesting books and items about shipping. The gas fireplaces are very nice. We used the Bose speaker but not the TV, as there was so much to see out the windows. The kitchen is well stocked with basic dishes and utensils. Knives are dull. There is a drip coffee pot and a Keurig. We liked that the refrigerator wasn't full of other people's old food that would just get in the way of our things. There are lots of options with interior lighting, though dimmer switches would have made it nicer. There is plenty of closet space, though not many hangars in each--we borrowed hangers from the other two closets. The floors are pretty, as are the bathrooms and kitchen countertops/cupboards. The showers are the type that drench you when you turn them on to warm up the water (a pet peeve), and the master bathroom shower was hard to turn on, so we used one of the other ones. The views from all bedrooms are nice, but the master bedroom is the best since it faces the river. It's hard to please everyone with a mattress, and ours was OK for 3 nights but seemed ready to replace--soft and squeaky.
Astoria has many nice little shops and very good restaurants. The people are extraordinarily friendly. We had a great time and would love to return for more.

What an amazingly place. Couldn't beat the central location and walkability to EVERYTHING. Beds were very comfortable, with lots if soace to unpack. Watching the ships go by was especially fun. We will definitely be back.

Everything about the Pilot House is outstanding. From the view of the bar pilots' activities to the furnishings, accessories, and the marvelous location in downtown Astoria, this is the place to be. Wish we were still there!

Piper up from California for her birthday and wanted to see the Oregon coast, the Goonies, Astor Column and checkout a few museums.
Most things within walking distance made this a great place to explore the downtown Astoria.

Loved the location and amazing view.
Not happy with the parking situation.
First day a truck in our parking spot thru the evening……after asking downstairs found out that the pilot boat staff were in our spot. They moved for us later that night after we had unloaded.
Everything else was wonderful!

I know it’s been said many times in different reviews but this place is amazing! It wasn’t just incredible lodging, it was an experience! From the sea life to the ships passing by to the cozy furnishings it far exceeded our expectations! We have already been telling friends and family that this is a place to put on the bucket list! Thank you for an Easter weekend/ spring vacation we will never forget!!

The pilot house was a great stay while we were in town for a funeral/celebration of life. It is located close to shops & restaurants in Astoria’s downtown & river walk. The place was spotless upon check in & the property managers made check in easy.
The only thing I might caution, and we knew this when booking, is that the pilot house is directly above the dwelling of a pilot boat Pilot. His job requires that he take his boat out at any time of night to guide the barges in through the river. (Which was really cool to see.)
We absolutely loved it.
Thank you, Pilot House, for having us as your guests!

We just stayed at the Pilot House and it was hands-down the best vacation we’ve ever had. The property was even better than I remembered it being; the beds were more comfortable than my own bed at home; there were nice touches of luxury and home throughout the property; the property manager was incredibly helpful and gracious; and the river pilots went out of their way be friendly to us throughout our stay.
We watched the ships come and go; watched sea lions playing under our window; saw falcons swooping in for dinner; and saw several bright, crisp double rainbows as the scenery changed with the weather.
I would not change one thing about this experience because it could not be better.
I have only one complaint: I will never be able to top this trip. Now my family will expect everything to be this wonderful!
Thank you to Teresa and the property team for making our family vacation so memorable and relaxing.
