It’s location, rooms and kitchen

Bathrooms were too small (and not 5 as advertised but 4); furniture getting a bit tired. Overall look was different from pictures.

the unit was smoky. if you have allergies this is not the place for you. It smells like smoke very much so and there must be smoking units in the building as it would get very smoky at times even with the windows shut. also, the hot water did not work in one of the bathrooms and we never got a response from the message we sent to report it to have it looked at.

One day after the checkout, they sent my a photo of a broken sofa, claiming it was us and that they won't give back the caution fee. I am absolutely sure it wasn't us. It is a scheme to keep the caution fee.

Our stay was for 16 people, we were super comfortable and at the center of everything!

The host was very nice and easy to reach via booking.com e-mail system. The beds, seriously, were so great. Honestly, I did not expect much about the bunk beds, but the mattresses and pillows were great. I accompanied 8 students, and they were all satisfied with the beds the most. The kitchen was also very useful. As we stayed there for 8 days, we cooked occasionally. Washing machine and dryer were good, too. The best part of the apartment was the location. It is right at the Paseo del Prado. Subway station is right on the street where we stayd, and Puerta del Sol is like 15 minute (or less) walk.

The free resort mets towels, bedding, shampoo, conditional, not a swimming pool. I did not know that, so we brought everything with us plus a swimsuit. It could be much better if I understand what the free resort was.

Good location; enough space for us - three generations including nine adults, one child and two infants (and a dog!) - but otherwise could perhaps be quite tight, particularly as there is only two bathrooms. There was a lovely dining area where all of us could gather together - this was great in the evenings and probably the best thing about the apartment. The lounge area was also spacious for our number of guests, but might struggle with more. That said, there are plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby, and the Prado was across the road.

Perhaps the biggest bugbear was the difficulty in getting our security deposit back, which we finally received today, a week after we had left (whereas the charge itself was speedily debited to my French bank account the day after we had arrived). At one point I was worried I wasn’t going to see the money again and there is no need for this sort of stress! It seems the payment was only made three days after we had left, and three days after they had confirmed there were no problems with our stay. Another issue was that the door lock to the apartment was extremely stiff (or perhaps some of the keys were damaged) and on a couple of occasions members of our party struggled or failed to get back in. The listing mentions a 24 hour reception, but there isn’t any; this is just an apartment in a residential building; nice though it was. There was a complete lack of wine and fizz glasses (around four of each). We were celebrating a 60th birthday and had to make do with cheap IKEA tumblers. Perhaps it’s a British thing, but a kettle would have been useful. We were promised two cots for the babies, but one was broken. Also the smallest bedroom with two bunks had no heating and was a bit cold to be used (this was a January stay).
