If you love your family, go someplace else. We paid for the top tier room, got there early and they argued with us about a towel to use in the ocean. The lady said our towel was in our room and we were required to get a “temporary towel voucher” in order to get a towel prior to check-in at 3:30.
The food, a misery. They claimed there were no more reservations available for dinner, yet when we walked by, there were probably 10-12 tables open. We had to pay for a cab and go somewhere to pay for dinner because it was so bad!
You get 2 bottles of water each day, but this “all-inclusive” was happy to sell you a 40 pack for $30 if you wanted.
To sum it up, spend a little more and go to a resort that has a reputable name.

Right on the beach with the clear blue water.Beautiful pool and grounds. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Same food menu every day. A couple of staff members, specially in the morning buffet not too friendly. Only woman working buffet area looked upset most of the time. Every time, when asked for service, she acted like I was pulling a tooth out.

Definitely one of the worst places I’ve stayed in Mexico. Did not live up to my expectations and standards even compared to what the website and Expedia say about this property. The upkeep is terrible, the rooms are disgusting, lights didn’t work, no garbage cans in the room, previous guests used soap and hair ties with hair still attached to them in the bathroom. The wait staff at the restaurant were very helpful and the beach was nice but that’s all this property has going for it

Very very very outdated. Lovely people but don’t expect a great room. A lot of things wrong and needs an update. Check in is also something that should be looked at. Took a hour for us to check in.

Gorgeous dated property was a palace in its day. Still beautiful but needs a few updates. Staff is very eager to please. Best snorkel beach we have ever seen! Other area hotels send there guests here. Food is good but very monotonous, and not alot of options. Order off the available menu and food is better to awesome.Definately like to go back!

It’s an old resort, the buffet basically is the same every day, a/c is controlled by the resort, rooms smell humid. Pretty much the beach in one side is the best part

We have been going to hotel el cozmeleano for 3?years now. We love the staff and everything they have to offer.

This is a budget friendly place that is fabulous snorkeling and great beaches. The food is not five stars but you aren’t paying for a five star resort. The staff are the kindest friendliest people who go above and beyond.

The service from the staff was amazing. They would bring drinks and food to the beach or poolside. The rooms stayed very clean. The beach was clean and peaceful. Santiago was by far the best server we had. So funny and kind. We loved all of the staff though. So much wildlife to be seen around the resort and so much to do! We snorkeled and played putt putt (all included in the stay). The food at El Cocal was okay but I would recommend the guacamole and chips with a chicken quesadilla. The food at La Veranda was amazing. I would give this experience an overall 9/10 and definitely plan to visit again.

Understaffed, but available staff was very friendly and helpful. Poor food selection. Buffet was a mixture of foods that didn’t really go together. Not a lot of activities for the kids that other Cozumel resorts offer. No fridge in room. Had to request an iron. Older resort that needs to be renovated. EXCELLENT snorkeling. Room was clean. Resort grounds kept clean and manicured.

Very clean hotel…

El Cozomeleno/Hotelcoz very old in need of ALOT of upgrades. No entertainment at all. Only the buffett to eat. 1 restaurant instead of multiple and the food was horrible. They dont regularly daily clean the pool. Jetski cost $60 for 30 minutes. Pick another resort! We will never ever go there again.

The resort is nice but the food in the buffet isn’t very good and the water pressure is terrible. The staff are very friendly and helpful!

The staff was great and very friendly. The food was mediocre at best. The facility itself needs several upgrades and is getting very run down.

After reading reviews I was ready to cancel my reservation, but I was glad that I didn’t, because I enjoyed my 3 day stay at the Hotel Coz/El Cozumeleno(they are the same hotel not sure why it comes up as 2 different options on Expedia).
We stayed in a premium skytop room (9th floor) and had a beautiful view. Front desk staff and every worker on the property was very helpful and pleasant. Rooms were dated, and the water pressure in the shower was almost zero, so FYI if you have long hair. Pools were clean. Ocean was beautiful and you can snorkel right there. We brought our own snorkel masks and our own beach towels. Yes, we woke up around 7 to put our towels out to ensure a spot under a palapa. I feel like you need to do this at any resort. The location was great, just a ten dollar taxi ride to town and the airport. We went to town every evening to eat at restaurants because that is what we like to do. Cozumel is safe and you can walk around town.
The food at the buffets (we only ate breakfast and lunch) was not for me-but I am a picky eater. If you like donuts, hot dogs, burgers, etc. then you might like the buffets. You can order off the menu by scanning a QR code, and the food I saw come from the menu looked great. Drinks were OK, only 1 kind of draft beer and bottom shelf liquor. We stayed here for the beach, pools, and price. For the price, you get what you pay for. If you aren’t picky and want to enjoy a place without spending a fortune, then this place is great!

The areas used for registering, and dining/breakfast area
was very appealing in appearance. The rooms/bathrooms need updating. Our room had a hide-a-bed that, from
outward appearances should be removed. Shower pressure was not very strong. This was a beautiful property, at one time. It seems they are doing work on the property now, so hope it will become beautiful, again.

This was my 2nd hotel in Cozumel, and I was very disappointed on arrival because my other hotel was the same price with many more amenities, friendly staff, and way better food. When I arrived, I could tell the staff were stressed and overworked. I hit the lunch buffet in the middle of its hours and wouldn’t touch any of the food that was sitting out because it looked unsafe (I have a managers food handlers card from the US). Unfortunately, I’m gluten free so eating shelf stable food was not an option at this resort as they offered many breads, pastries, etc. There were not enough snorkels where I never was able to borrow one and they had an unreasonable expectation that you turn in your towel at 8p even though the pool was still open. The girl lectured me every time I brought my towel back the next morning, super annoying that she felt the need. The jacuzzi tubs/spa tubs are not heated. They won’t give you change, only charge you a fee for changing dollars to pesos and there is no ATM at this hotel. The beach isn’t the best either, it’s not the hotels fault but there is tons of stinky seaweed I could smell from my 4th floor balcony.
My redeeming experiences at this hotel were that snorkeling was very good here (I bought a snorkel in town) with fish and sting rays, the events coordinator Roberto was delightful and caring (they should give him a big raise so he doesn’t leave for a better hotel) and one of the waitresses was really nice. My room was clean, if basic.

Excellent value, staff are kind and courteous. Food is good and variety good. Rooms are a little dated and being right on the beach, there is a little damp/mustiness. Beach and swimming area is perfect. Easy access and clean

It was good. I got lots of bang for my buck. Some hotels details were overlooked. It wasn’t a 5 star hotel, but I’m a seasoned traveler so I don’t let minor inconveniences ruin my trip.

Perfect resort if your not looking for much. Staff was consistently cleaning and rooms were in pretty good shape in my opinion. Only con of this resort was the food selection. Beach buffet has very little choice and is the same everyday. When ordering off The menu there is more options and is a bit better. Beach is beautiful with great snorkeling and a pier you can jump off.

The Ocean View was gorgeous! The people that worked there were incredibly friendly and helpful. Esperanza was always at the door with a smile and fun attitude that made us happy to return. Jesus took good care of us at the bar. The desk girls went above and beyond helping me refill a prescription. If you don't like the buffet food, the menu items are very good. The only imperfections were ac was either freezing or we turned it off, and there is a trick to getting hot water in the shower. Great place for the price!

Honestly could not recommend staying here as we had many issues. First one was room had words, moved to Second room still had mold, finally moves to the 9th floor which was fine. Property itself is a beautiful older property that is very poorly managed. Was very surprised they did not have guacamole, bacon, ceviche. The all-inclusive did not have drinks in the room at all. Extremely Limited menu and definitely not enough staff. One of the breakfast took 40 minutes to get one item and they told us would be another hour for the rest of our food. 13 out of 15 guest we spoke to said they were very disappointed. There are definitely a few highlights in that Roberto with car rentals on site was wonderful as were Gabriel the restaurant manager, Paulino and other Waiters. It's a shame upper management and ownership are done such a bad job

The ocean is the star attraction. El Coz s is a true sea-side resort. Almost every room offers an incredible Caribbean panorama. Wake up to stunning azure and turquoise vistas. Bask in unobstructed views of gorgeous sunsets. The main palapa-roofed restaurant is literally right on beach. And for us the best part is the wonderful snorkeling right at the resort and down to the Westin. No, it’s not Fiji or the Great Barrier Reef, but the corals along the iron shore are lovely and the sea life is abundant and surprisingly varied. We went out twice a day and saw something different every time. Know what you’re getting into. Don’t expect a 4-star stay at those prices. The hotel is not the destination. Come for the ocean and you won’t be disappointed

Attention! Attention! The maids of this hotel steal clothes from the rooms! they do it the last day of stay.
They stole a lot of clothes from my room the day I was checking out in the morning when I went to have breakfast. I didn't noticed until I was home unpacking, I called the hotel and according to them the housekeeper said that I forgot my clothes in the room "what a lie!", they sent me the clothes by mail and I had to pay for it. When I opened the package, there was a lot of clothes missing, blouses, bras, "incredible! We paid a lot for this hotel and they have trashy housekeepers who steal"

The staff was amazing it was great for a laidback vacation.

Service was good in most areas. Alajondro was very friendly and provided excellent customer service in every aspect.
We did not realize that the dress code for the dinner restaurant required men to wear long pants so we were turned away.

You get what you pay for. But if you dont mind AC that barely works, simple food, hard bed, water down drinks.. this is your place.
Beach area is small but nice! Other thing is people from beach club and hotel come to swim there too. So be cautious w your items. Simple but good for what we wanted.

Loved this place , the views , the staff was amazing ,easy to get a taxi and around .1 thing I did not like was the restroom , toilet kept stopping up a bit and sink .
5.0
The employees were mostly helpful and friendly, some or the ones at the desk were kind of cold but not all of them. I love the beach because you can snorkel without having to leave the hotel. My complaint is the pool, the water was kind of murky and greenish, not blue and clear. We got there once but when we noticed it was like that we got out and didn't go back but the beach was clean. It was our favorite spot. We also had fun playing mini-golf. The food was okay, not great but not bad. The beverages were good. The room was clean and the A/C always worked great. Also they cut the water twice for some repairs according to the desk but it didn't take long to get it back. We would definitely consider to stay there again in our next visit to Cozumel.

place was unique, it make my vacation relaxing and unforgettable.

I really wanted to like this hotel but unfortunately I’ve stayed in better hotels in Cozumel.
Cons
Everything is watered down. All the drinks including soft and hard drinks. Even the orange juice was watered down
Beds are terrible. They are hard. Better off sleeping on the floor. Pillows are hard too.
The towels they provide in the room are small, old, and gritty. It feels like I’m exfoliating my body when I used them. Plus they had a weird smell.
The restroom had a weird smell to ir. It smelled like sewage.
The food was disgusting, only thing I ate was the burger. I went into town and bought my own food instead.
There’s no sun shade by the pool area
Pros
The ocean, there’s so many fishes in that area. The water is clear.

I would rate this resort as 2 stars. The food is TERRIBLE, if you make a reservation for the restaurant you will be waiting an hour for your food, the whole resort is very run down & very outdated, drinks are watered down, pool water looks foggy everyday, the birds come straight up to the buffet to eat, and there were a couple workers that always had an annoyed attitude whenever you asked for something. The only positives I can say about this place is the price, and that MOST of the staff was friendly minus the omelet lady and the old man who checks you out.

This is a definitely 3 start hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, the pools were nice and beach very near, it was beautiful and clean. However, the food was bad. I’d never been in Mexico with bad food before. The buffet has no many choices and the quality was just not great. Overall, it was a nice experience, but definitely they need more night entertainment and improve the food.

You definitely get what you pay for! A very inexpensive stay for waterdown alcohol and few food options.
