We (6 guests, 4 adults and 2 teens) stayed in a family tatami room. We loved the traditional furnishings, chabudai, zabuton, and futon. The single outdoor bath was lovely, but didn't compare to the ryokan's bath or the mystic baths in town. Our teens used the private family onsen, it was wonderful and the view was beautiful at dusk. The kaiseki dinner was amazing, so much food and so much care and thought put into the meals. The selection of yukata was wonderful and we had the best time dressing for the occasion. 2 of our party left medication behind in the room fridge upon check out. One of the hotel receptionists rushed to the train station to get it to us before our train left. She really went above and beyond for us!

Some parts of the room were looking a bit aged and could use a fresh coat of paint (like high traffic areas in the bathroom or entry way). Many of the geta had seen better days and could be hard to walk in/uneven. Baskets as opposed to the disposable bags would have been a welcome and more authentic touch.

The staff were very nice, helpful, lovely and professional. I never once felt awkward around them during my stay. The facilities were superb and we thoroughly enjoyed both the semi-open air bath and the open air bath. The kaiseki dinner was also very lovely and fulfilling that I’m just a bit sad I couldn’t finish everything for having a small appetite (I tried my hardest to finish them all…)

Excellent staff and facilities, clean and extremely comfortable. Great amenities and the the private Onsen overlooking the river was spectacular.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Short stroll to the main area of the town.

Did not care for the futons. Not comfortable or easy to get in or out of for older persons.
