Position was good
Staff were very friendly
Dinner and breakfast was amazing
When we got back to the hotel after watching a show we wanted to have a drink in the bar. It was 10.15 and the bar men refused to serve us and said it was dead so he closed up 😡

We didn't have breakfast
What we didn't like was that we had to leave the place to come home really enjoyed 😊
4.0
Close to the town and spacious rooms
Entrance doors were broken ,3 out for lifts were out of use (15 floor hotel !! ) Heating in the room didn’t work (portable radiator in the corner says it has been not working a while) coffee machine didn’t work. Bar manager cleaning down the bar before time felt uncomfortable and like he wanted us out !

Clean, spacious room, bright and good breakfast. Location good too
Nothing to complain about

Staff were excellent, particular Kate who was 5*. An active listener, responded to the issues over both days. She was really helpful and genuine.
Food was also very good.
Changing area for the swimming pool/gym was dirty. Same towels on the dirty floor when we came in and when we were leaving. Such a shame as the pool/sauna was great.

The property was very comfortable, spacious room, very comfortable bed
I didn’t like the fact that we had to pay an extra amount to use the spa facilities which wasn’t stated when I booked the hotel.
7.0
The room was nice and comfortable but a little cold in the evenings and there was no way to heat up the room. The beds were comfortable and the location was good. Staff were polite but the food menu didn't inspire.
I stayed here in January and really enjoyed the use of the pool and gym and it made the visit to Cardiff even better, I normally look for hotels with a pool as I enjoy that when I stay, I was however dismayed to learn on arrival that there is a fee now for hotel guests using the pool, £10 a session and so when I decided to stay an additional day in Cardiff I decided to check into another hotel that didn't charge additional fees for on site facilities. I don't think I'll be going back to the Mercure, with 2 people staying for 4 days it was a lot of additional fees. I booked into a slightly more expensive hotel but it was still a cheaper option for me in the long run to have full use of all facilities without extra costs.

Very comfy bed and great location, room very clean
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. But there were a whole series of things throughout the hotel which were out of order / being repaired. The swimming pool changing rooms were in need of a good clean and some showers were out of order, as was the steam room.

It was very clean and tidy, and our room was lovely
We had some noisy neighbours on our corridor

Beds were comfortable and staff were friendly
The room we stayed in was nice apart from waking up in the morning to find an awful sewage smell coming from the bathroom and shower only worked with freezing cold water.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here, this time was with two of my friends for a girly break. The hotel was reasonably priced, with a nice pool, steam room and sauna. The location is perfect as it’s centrally located, making it a great base for exploring the city.
The car parking was over priced. We had two cars, and had to pay the full amount for parking. A discretionary price for two cars would have been helpful.

Cooked breakfast was a bit congealed and overcooked dried out

Room very good size.
Nice to have bath as well as shower.
Quiet area were room was located.
Swimming areas lovely.
Daughter’s room by lift so she said it could be noisy.
TV’s too small when watching from the bed due to distance.
Bed rolled when getting in on a couple of occasions.

The decor, the location, the 9th floor had a great floor.
Why empty a jacuzzi and fill up during opening hours, most disappointed this is why I booked this hotel, do maintenance when closed. The sockets for hair dryer are to low on the desk. Makes it harder to plug in appliances

Bigger room than we thought it would be.
Nice to have the option of a shower or a bath.
WiFi speed was good.
Steam extraction in bathroom was very good.
Had to ask to replenish tea and milk as staying for 2 nights.
Chef in resteraunt was rude.
Swimsuit spinner was broke in mens leisure changing rooms and women's didn't have one.
Toilet roll holder was wonky.

There was no hot water this whole stay, we were told it was an issue that would be fixed quickly, however that was at 5pm and at 10pm after we had came back for a meal it was still not working, we then tried ringing again but no answer and was then told it would be fixed by the morning , in the morning it’s still not been fixed and was told ‘not sure when it will be working ‘ by a manager. To be honest I’m appalled at the customer service and don’t seem to understand why they’re offering rooms fully priced when they’ve known for a few days that the water isn’t working. This is because I spoke to a lady who’s been staying in the hotel and this issue hasn’t been fixed for days so I don’t understand why I’ve payed to be honest

There’s nothing I didn’t like about the property

The room was beautiful and massive, and very clean. The beds were comfy, there was already an iron and ironing board in the room. There was air con, and all the staff were really friendly.
There was a place to store your luggage if you arrived early. You can also use the pool before you check in. Pool area was lovely it had a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
I know saunas are supposed to be hot, but the sauna was that hot my skin was actually burnt after I sat down on the wood after 3 or 4 mins.
Check in is advertised as 3, most hotels let you in if the room is ready but it was company policy not to check in before 3 so if you're eager to get to your room, make sure you're there early as there was a huge que to check in by about 2.55.
The hotel itself was beautiful, couldn't fault it. However I'd reconsider adding breakfast onto your stay. At £16.95 per person I thought it would be top quality. It was awful, the sausages were barely cooked and the egg yolks were rock solid under the hot plate. Usually with a buffet breakfast your plates get cleared through the meal but no one cleared anything we ended up putting all the plates on the table next door to allow room.
There was no raspberry or strawberry jam, when I asked about the pain a chocolates as the basket was empty was told it'll take at least 15 mins to come out. This was at the end of the breakfast, so I declined. If you're paying that amount of money for a breakfast it should be top quality and re stocked regularly especially as the location is about a 5 min walk from the food court in St David's centre.
Would stay here again as the hotel itself was lovely, but would highly reccomend venturing out for breakfast!

Location convenient for work.
Guy in gym helpful and apologetic about broken equipment.
TV didn't work, engineer came said reception would contact me, no one did. Couldn't get through to reception and gave up. Enquired why at check out, told not their issue as was evening shift problem, very poor service and attitude. E mailed complaint to manager, contacted after 3 days after chasing and no real explanation but offered 20% would be refunded to my card, never arrived.
Overall appalling service particularly as I complained through official channel.
Treadmills in the gym all broken except one which rattles too much to use, same issue since January 2023.
Phone in room also faulty had to call from mobile and even then rings and rings and little response from reception.
Stay elsewhere, awful, tired, poorly staffed hotel.

The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Nice to have the option of both a bath and a shower in the bathroom, and plenty of towels.
Waiting for the lift for breakfast was painfully slow and not able to use the stairs to the dining room level.
Tissue box in the bathroom only had one tissue left in it so ran out.

Friendly check-in staff
The room was very dated and just didn’t feel very inviting. The bed was so hard and the pillows were just as bad.
The shower gel pump was broken (and locked into position on the wall, so I couldn’t tip it up to get any out) and the additional one in the bath was empty. After calling reception twice and waiting for an hour, someone finally came to sort it.
I could hear aaaaaalllll the traffic and sirens and alarms that Cardiff had to offer.
The car parking was so frustrating to sort. You can pay cash…or use yet another car parking payment system which then tries to charge you £38 instead of the £20 stated on the pricing board.
The initial look of the hotel when you walk in, is stunning, but after you peel away the surface, all is not as it seemed.
The corridor fire door was faulty too, 7th floor…I recommend that you have someone look at this as this is there to protect your customers.
