Clean comfortable room. Hotel was in a great location for museums
We checked out a day early. Was told we would get a refund but some fees would still be there and have not been given any refund!!
If you are hungry, you aren’t allowed to bring any food into you room. You have to pay for the $7 per snack or drinks they have in the hotel.

A good traditional hotel in the museum district. A nice place to stay near the Universitiy and the cultural life.
It's a little bit old but still working properly and the staff is very helpful.

Location
Room not ready past check in. Not accomodating. Very dark. Lots of "how are doing" surveys.

I liked the balcony view, but we were only on the 4th floor.
The room we were given was more outdated than the room presented in the pictures. The bathroom online shows clear glass sink tops but the bathroom was the older marble restroom and the room furniture was a little damaged, not very pleasing aesthetically.

The transportation service within 3 mile radius was very good. Food at Monarch good. Complimentary coffee and tea every morning was a treat. Service people very friendly and helpful.
Odd that their amenities were limited, designed for one person, instead of two, even when the guests were a couple. One bottle of water, or no water. One sweet left at eveningb turndown. Shower space was tight. Only one chair to use.

We always stay at Zaza for its proximity to Rice University, the park, museums and plenty of dining options! The restaurant is also very good and we love that they offer a complimentary shuttle service on a 3-mile radius, so we can be in Houston without renting a car.

it’s a great location right next to the museums, zoo and park. the Valet, maid staff, concierge and our waiter were great.
This was my fifth stay at the ZSAZSA. It has gone way downhill. The front desk people were unwelcoming and dismissive. We had dinner at the Monarch. The hostess refused to seat us at a regular table-of which there were 12 available because they were “booked.” Those same twelve “ booked” tables remained vacant for the next hour and a half while we ate our expensive mediocre dinner in uncomfortable high bar chairs. Our waiter did his best to make up for the hostess’s rudeness. There are too many good hotels in Houston. we won’t be back.

Location near the zoo and museums
If you like dingy seediness in a hotel that reminds you of an early to mid 20th century brothel (suggestive pictures everywhere including in the elevator - see photo), lukewarm showers, flat pillows, along with a sleazy wall length mirror, a tacky in-room expensive snack bar, an equally tacky refrigerator filled with expensive bar drinks, and pricy mandatory valet with swarming workers, then this is the place for you. Either the multitude of reviews praising this place are bot generated, or there are a lot more people than I could imagine that enjoy this type of one star sleaziness masquerading as a hip five star. Will not return and definitely regret booking for my family (to go to the zoo and museum).

So much to like
Funky decor
Beautifully designed pool area (very empty, which I enjoyed)
Good size room with impressive view, big desk, important as I had a lot of work to do
Very well stocked bathroom
Amazing robes
Nice food (especially the tuna tostadas) and a mean margarita
Aircon in public areas of the hotel far too cold (energy crisis anyone?)
One or two odd dishes on the menu
