Surfside Beach Pier

Surfside Beach Pier was originally built in 1953, and it has been rebuilt and renovated several times since then. While on the pier, you can sit on Surf Diner‘s beachfront deck and enjoy the peaceful calm of the rolling waves while you eat. This rustic restaurant offers traditional coastal American dining favorites like fresh fish, juicy burgers, and homemade crab cakes. Then take a stroll over to Licks Ice Cream to find all your favorite ice cream flavors. Pier Outfitters, a one-stop-shop for beach apparel, is right around the corner, and has all your beach essentials. Rent a jet ski or kayak, and explore the water around this coast. If your looking to bring home a fresh catch, you can easily find chartered fishing excursions on the beach.

Speed slides, tube slides, mat slides, and pools are just part of the fun at Wild Water and Wheels is way more than your average water park. Their variety of go-karts and bumper boats provide endless entertainment. Play multiple games of mini-golf on the 18-hole course by upgrading your water park admission to a full park pass. Kiddie attractions include Wally’s Lagoon, a large pool with slides and a cave for exploring.  Make sure to check out the Race Zone, designed for six- to nine-year-olds.

Hudson’s Surfside Flea Market

You never know what treasures you’ll find at Hudson’s Surfside Flea Market, and that’s part of the fun. Spend hours wandering through the five buildings to discover items that are old, new, unusual, or one-of-a-kind. Books, jewelry, high-tech products, and home goods are just a few of the things you’ll find here. This family-owned, open-air market has more than 400 vendors. There is an arcade on-site, and food stands when you get hungry.

Shoreline Watersports

Rent a jet ski and take off on the two-mile course in front of Shoreline Watersports’ location. Rental options also include kayaks and buggy boards. Or take a ride on a banana boat and see the ocean up close. Parasailing and fishing charters are two additional fun activities that are available. Shoreline Watersports has been accident-free since 1998, so you can be rest assured this place is safe for the whole family. All their captains have US Coast Guard Captain Certifications.

Where to Stay in Surfside

There are plenty of vacation rental options in this cute, coastal town. Let’s check out a couple of the top areas below.

Socastee

This small town has a population of about 25,000 and offers quiet streets and quaint neighborhoods. The area has a ton of bars and restaurants for adults, and parks for the kids. There is no shortage of coffee shops if you’re a java fiend. This is the town to look to for great deals on single-family homes, especially in the fall months. Socastee is a great choice for the family looking to save a little money on their vacation home.

Favorite local spot in Socastee: River City Cafe is far and away the best burger joint in the entire state. The “House” Cheeseburger is incredible. We recommend trying it with the creamy blue cheese spread in place of the cheddar. They also offer a vegetarian option for the non-meat-eaters in the group.

Surfside Beach

As mentioned above, this small town is loaded with things to do for the whole family. We’d even go so far to say that this is the best option for your vacation rental, with all the amenities this town has to offer you and the family! Find everything you could need in this town, from townhomes on the water, to more economically friendly apartments further inland. Either way, you’re sure to have a great view of the ocean and a bunch of fun things to do.

Favorite local spot in Surfside Beach: Looking for a great Italian spot for your family trip? We recommend you try Malibu’s Italian Restaurant. This place is an institution in the area, and offers some of the tastiest Italian food you’ve ever tasted. You’ve got to try the Lobster Ravioli. For dessert, be sure to grab a couple of the Homemade Chocolate Chip Cannolis for the family to share.

Ocean Drive Beach

Ocean Drive Beach is a small quaint beach town with tons to offer its visitors. If you and your family are looking to relax and get some peace and quiet on your trip, this is a great option for you. The town has a few restaurants and coffee shops but is mostly residential. This makes for peaceful streets, perfect for strolls through town with family.

Favorite local spot in Ocean Drive Beach: For some authentic Irish food, check out Flynn’s Irish Tavern. Start off with some traditional Irish Onion Soup and then try the tasty Jameson BBQ Chicken for dinner. The Fish and Chips are sensational. We also love to recommend the Tavern’s Shepherd’s Pie.
