Anglebury House

This is a nice place, great if you value genuine experience of an inn, so different from chain hotels. Don't expect impeccable, standardised rooms lacking character. This is a real guest house, with floors, walls and roof that show this house has served generations. Well maintained, comfortable beds. VERY nice staff, great breakfasts. Some reviewers complain about the late start of breakfast (8:30am), for £10 per room we had an early one, no issue and a reasonable top-up. The history of the place adds value. While not my reason to chose Anglebury House, the connection to TE Lawrence is nicely highlighted, there's also a display of parts of the old house wall and things found during renovation in early 2000'. Character of the place shows.

I recommend the place. Though it's an old house adapted to modern conveniences. Don't expect spacious bathrooms, floor boards don't squeak but are uneven. wouldn't make a difference to most.

Small room but adequate. Very clean. Facing main Street so I thought I might be disturbed by traffic, but I was not.

Plumbing is outdated, but working.

The bedroom, although classed as a single, had a large (4 ft) single bed and there was plenty of space to put my overnight luggage. There was adequate hanging space, a large enough TV, kettle with coffee and tea, cup, glass. There was a small easy chair, writing table and chair. There was also a hair dryer. The en suite was very cosy. The room was very clean. The breakfast was more than ample, with a choice of teas and coffee, fruit juice, selection of cereals and a good choice of cooked dishes. They quite happily changed the fried egg for scrambled egg in my cooked breakfast to accommodate me.

If I was staying a few days the ultra small wash basin would have become annoying, but that was the only downside.

Breakfast excellent and hotel location

Room 7 very noisy in the day, door downstairs banging ( maybe kitchen door)
