Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Rooms were small, but clean and comfortable with lovely kind touches to make the stay special.

When we arrived after a cold rainy day, the staff said that they didn’t have our names down in there book, but everything was booked through booking.com and was all good. Then they had nerve to say you will have to have a other room! As we walked up the stairs, they opened the door for us and the room was being used by someone else. A total mismanagement and no organisation at all it seems, then they found a little room with a shared bathroom, witch we paid for a bathroom en suite. There excuse was realy sorry we can knock £5 of your bill. At that stage wet and tired we just went to bed, and there was no heating on all night. Never again please do not go. I’m only being honest.

Very friendly staff, food was amazing and the rooms were very clean & tidy. Definitely recommend staying here right in the 💓 of Ambleside.

The owner and staff were fantastic.

The staff were very polite and helpful, particularly the male member of staff who greeted us when we arrived. He was well informed about local information and very willing to help.

Brilliant central location and good price
Shame they don't do breakfast. They do evening food so breakfast wouldn't be impossible
No parking - understand why but parking arrangements locally would be helpful

Amazing location, great food and beer. Wonderful staff. So helpful.
We didn’t dislike anything. We’d read about the noise and parking. That didn’t bother us. We parked on the kirkstone pass about 300 yards away and didn’t go to bed until later.

Great pub, good location
No breakfast apparently due to COVID-19 restrictions, yet we had an evening meal in the same room that we would’ve had breakfast. No reduction in price though, however, we knew before we arrived that breakfast wasn’t available. It just makes no sense to me.

Lovey staff. Great location. First time using a shared bathroom but didn’t put us off. Room small but clean & bathroom very clean. Pub cosy & nice food. Would definitely go back.
