Place was clean, staff was friendly and the food was really good

Lovely resort comprising of multiple hotel / apartment complexes. The place is absolutely huge and they run golf carts to get you around. The hotel I was in and the grounds were incredibly well maintained, staff were friendly, food was good in the restaurants I tried. My room was vast! Very comfortable.

It felt so remote. I'm someone that likes to walk around the place I'm staying, get to experience the local vibe, etc. but it was a bit of a mission to get out of the resort and into town. Yes - I could have got a taxi, but I'm someone that likes to walk, take it all in, etc. Nothing against the resort - if that's your sort of thing, then awesome. It's more about me that I wasn't too keen on it than the place itself.

Definitely not a 5 star hotel. Rooms are dated and showing severe wear and tear and electrical hazards. Upon arrival, multiple lights were not working, and an electrical outlet was hanging from the wall with exposed wiring !!!

- Being harassed to join the timeshare Palladium Group members club. They’ll tell you they have a gift for you. Don’t fall for it. It will take out 3-4 hours of your day. It’s a sales pitch. - Butler was Cindy who was basically useless. Didn’t seem like she wanted to work to make our stay memorable. I did complain and to be fair she did trying to decorate our room to make up for it, but by then the vibe was already dead. - I don’t know what’s worse, the seaweed infested beach (which is basically a 10ft stretch of sand that they rarely clean) or the hundreds of solicitors trying to sell you things on the beach. It never ends. - The food was atrocious, had boo-boo butter the whole time. Maybe Cusco and La Bohème were ok. Helios was disgusting. - Generally speaking, overall the staff clearly have gotten used to the American tipping system and just expect a handout without doing much. Some did make a real effort, about 5 people that I ended up tipping personally.
