Dog House by Chef & Brewer Collection

Room was on front of hotel on busy road. Old windows (single glazed) didn’t shut very. We heard traffic noise all night!

Need sound insulation in bedroom from traffic noise -perhaps secondary glazing. Poor availability for continental breakfast.

The food was the highlight of my stay. Steak and Ale pie on first night was totally perfect. Super and delicious choice of breakfasts.

My only problem was the noise of a generator/heat pump? from the kitchen, which was immediately outside my bedroom windoww and was on constantly all night. It was very loud and at times the whole room seemed to reverberate with it. However, when I mentioned it the next morning the staff were very understanding and immediately arranged for me to have a different room for the rest of my stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here and would happily return without hesitation. The hotel is set in a lovely rural location, which gave it a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We particularly loved the bar and restaurant, which had a wonderfully rustic and traditional feel. It had plenty of character and charm, and was exactly the sort of setting we enjoy. All of the staff were welcoming, polite and extremely helpful, which made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. The breakfast, which was included in our stay, was absolutely excellent and, I can honestly say, one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a very long time. There was a great choice and the quality was excellent.

The hotel has a lovely character and charm, particularly given the age of the building and its original features and windows, which we appreciated. The only small point worth mentioning is that some areas of the room could perhaps benefit from a little more attention to dusting. There was some dust around the skirting boards and window ledges, and a few dead insects, which is understandable to some extent given the age and character of the building. The back of the television also appeared to have gathered quite a bit of dust over time. However, these were very minor points and certainly did not detract from our stay. We would have no hesitation in staying here again and would be very happy to recommend the hotel.

The location for where we needed to go was really good. I had the farmers breakfast and that was really good. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The property is very dated. Even though the bedding and bathroom were clean, it didn’t feel it, there were a lot of cobwebs on the ceiling, stains on carpets and walls. The headboard of the bed was very worn. It could just do with some TLC.
