The hotel is situated in a lovely setting. The breakfast is excellent, and the breakfast staff are fantastic. The beds are a bit soft, but this didn't negatively affect my sleep.
The room was dated and had wall-to-wall carpeting—a major downside—though it was clean. What is very annoying, however, is when reception staff are more interested in chatting with each other than attending to guests; it is highly unprofessional.

We liked the location in proximity to Monterey and the included breakfast.
There was no AC and they were redoing the roof which woke us up two days in a row at 8am; the constant hammering and scraping was insanely loud. However, the front desk lady was very nice, offered us a $40 refund for the inconvenience, and offered a room change.
