Communication with Juan was excellent and check in was thorough and flexible. Lots of advice and recommendations of beaches, restaurants etc. The free parking spot is a huge bonus as it is almost impossible to park nearby. The garage is an easy short walk from the house.
From the balcony on the 2nd floor we could see the estuary and hear the beautiful violin music from the street musician in the evening. The restaurants and bars in the best part of town are all 2 minutes walk from the front door.
The house itself has rustic charm. The spaces are small and the staircase is very steep and narrow winding stairs. The main bedroom is wonderful and big with double wardrobes and very clean and comfortable bed. The second floor has extra beds but with a low sloping ceiling so better for children. Some of the doorways downstairs are also low so my husband had to do a lot of stooping as he is tall.
The only downside is that the small spaces are filled with many unnecessary furniture items or pictures. It had a sense of clutter. Also there were no cleaning products available at all which we had to buy. And we needed as the kitchen and bathroom were in need of a good clean. A few things were not working properly (e.g. Toilet flush broken, fridge without a foot so wobbled over ) the owners were aware of these things but were unconcerned.
Overall we had a fantastic week and the beaches nearby are stunning !

Wunderbares Milfontes
Das süsse absolut ruhige, mitten in der hübschen Altstadt von Milfontes gelegene Haus lässt keine Wünsche offen: Kuscheliges Wohnzimmer mit Kamin, kleine, aber feine Küche mit allem, was man braucht, ein grosses Schlafzimmer mit gemütlichen Kissen, Decke und Matratze und natürlich das highlight, die windgeschützte Dachterrasse mit toller Aussicht - man muss sie sich über die beiden Treppen etwas erarbeiten, aber der Weg lohnt sich!!! Danke lieber Juan für diesen tollen Urlaub, wir wären gerne länger geblieben :-))))) Uli und Guido

charmante Unterkunft in herrlicher Umgebung
Das Häuschen liegt malerisch in der Altstadt, der Blick vom Balkon ist unschlagbar, ein paar Schritte und man ist an der nächsten Bar, am Hafen oder im Ort, ein kleiner Spaziergang führt an den Atlantik. Die Betten sind bequem, die Küche klein und einfach, aber mit allem ausgestattet. Für alle die eine charmante Unterkunft in schöner Lage suchen und keinen 5Sterne Komfort benötigen die perfekte Unterkunft. Außerdem wird man herzlich von Juan begrüßt und bekommt die besten Tips für Wanderungen in der Umgebung und die Restaurants der Stadt. Feuerholz wird reichlich zur Verfügung gestellt, so dass es gemütlich und warm ist.
Wir kommen gerne wieder.

In terms of location, it can’t be beat. The upper floor rooftop deck says it all. Juan is an excellent host, he provided wood for our fireplace and checked in with us frequently. Very nice space to stay, and a comfortable bed! Many beds we’ve used in Portugal are firmer than we’re used to, and this one is nice and comfy... Great wifi also, which we needed for work. A+

Tolle Aussicht auf die Mira!
Das Haus ist typisch portugiesisch eingerichtet und liebevoll mit Kunstgegenständen und heimischen Bildern dekoriert.
Im Erdgeschoss findet man das Wohn- und Esszimmer mit Fernseher und Kamin. Gleich daneben ist die kleine Küche mit Gasherd und einer vollständigen Küchenausstattung sowie einer Waschmaschine und einem kleinen Kühlschrank. Eine kleine Kammer unter der Treppe bietet Platz für Vorräte und dient als Lager für den Staubsauger und andere Sachen.
Über die steile Wendeltreppe geht es in den ersten Stock mit einem großen hellen Schlafzimmer. Das ist mit einem Doppelbett ausgestattet und hat einen Einbauschrank, der die gesamte Breite des Raumes einnimmt und mehr als genug Platz für Kleidung und sogar die Koffer bietet. Ein Mal die Woche wurde die Bettwäsche gewechselt.
Das kleine Badezimmer neben dem Schlafzimmer Ist mit Duschkabine, WC und Waschbecken sowie zwei beheizbaren Handtuchhaltern gut ausgestattet. Die beschriebene Renovierung scheint schon einige Zeit her zu sein. Das Bad wurde ein Mal die Woche gereinigt und neue Handtücher hingehängt.
Nun geht es in den 2. Stock über die Wendeltreppe. Man erreicht ein zweites Schlafzimmer mit Schrägwänden. Ausgestattet ist es mit einem Futon-Doppelbett und einem Schlafsofa sowie einem Tisch und einem Stuhl. Der offene Schrank steht direkt am Fußende des Bettes und beinhaltet ein Textilregal und Kleiderbügel. Größere Menschen müssen den Kopf etwas einziehen.
Durch eine 1,75 m hohe Terrassentür geht es auf den Balkon mit Gartenmöbeln für 4 Personen und Sonnenschirm.
Hier genießt man einen atemberaubenden Blick auf den Fluss Mira und auf den gegenüberliegenden Strand von Furnas. Die Aussicht ist das Beste!
Zur Wohnung gehörte ein Parkplatz in einer nahegelegenen Tiefgarage(5 Minuten Fußweg) und war dort sicher untergebracht.
Das Haus ist prima für 2 Personen. Wir haben uns dort wohl gefühlt und die Zeit in Vila Nova de Milfontes sehr genossen. Die Treppe haben wir als Fitnesstraining angesehen. Unser Hauptaufenthaltsraum war der Balkon mit der tollen Aussicht.
Juan und Taina haben uns sehr gut mit Informationen versorgt und sich um unsere Anliegen gekümmert.

Das Haus ist typisch für ein Dorf im Alentejo, klein aber sehr gemütlich. Das Haus liegt nah am Fluß Mira man hat einen Ausblick auf die Flußmündung.

Tolle Fewo mit super Lage
Die Fewo ist sehr gemütlich, alles ist vorhanden, die Terasse mit Blick über den Fluss bis zum Atlantik ist traumhaft.
Juan ist ein super Gastgeber, er gibt umfangreiche Informationen zum Land und versorgte uns mit viel, duftendem Kaminholz.

Perfekt!
Haus, Lage, Ort: alles ganz wundervoll und perfekt! Strände fußläufig gut erreichbar, nette Lokale und Restaurants direkt um die Ecke und trotzdem ruhig. Die kleine dachterrasse ein Traum! Kommunikation mit Juan schnell und ganz unkompliziert! Danke! Absolut empfehlenswert!

Small and compact cottage. Lovely roof terrace offering beautiful views of river and beach. Three flights of narrow twisting stairs which could are tricky if you have mobility issues. Kitchen very small and needs a new fridge. Bed very comfortable and good size. Enjoyed our stay in this beautiful village.

Our hosts, Juan and Taina, made us feel extremely welcome on arrival and were very thoughtful in their recommendations for our stay (sending clear directions and guiding us to the house, fire lit before we arrived due to the colder nights in January, recommended restaraunts and provided maps/books on the local area. The house was beautiful with a wood burning stove, comfortable beds and a great shower. And the roof terrace was an ideal place especially at sunset after a day exploring beaches and villages in the area. Excellent location with restaurants, bars, shops and beaches all within walking distance. Everything we were looking for in a relaxing break and more. There's plenty of activities in the area and even out of season we were able to enjoy horse riding and stand up paddle boarding. Vila Nova de Milfontes is the perfect place to unwind!

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. The house is as cute and comfortable as ever. The weather was not as good but the house was a cozy place to be. The location is excellent for walking around Mil Fontes. We took more hikes on the coast this time and loved the nature so close. Juan and Taína are great hosts. We hope to go back again and for longer!

Cute and comfortable house in the perfect location.
We really loved staying in Juan and Taina’s home this spring. The house is small and charming, 3 stories connected by a spiral staircase, and is equipped with everything we needed. The upstairs terrace gave a nice view of the river. We were even able to build a fire when it was chilly. And, Juan let us use a space in a garage close to the house.
Juan left us with lots of recommendations which were good and accurate. We went to several of the restaurants and liked them all, especially Picatapa, owned by Reuben, a wine enthusiast, and the family run Doce Paparoca (homemade chicken tarts, cakes and sandwiches to eat there or take for a picnic- also their rooftop area for morning coffee!)
There is a lot to do in the area, from the beaches within walking distance, to inland villages and the amazing walks along the coast. It is also not too far to drive down to the south coast. We squeezed in a canoe trip also, up the river with the incoming tide which was a lot of fun.
All in all , we had a great time in Milfontes!

We had a great time in Milfontes. Juan and his wife are very nice and gave us directions to all kind of local restaurants and hidden beaches. The house is very central, clean and has a great roof terrace with a superb view. Definitive recommendation! We will come back!

Great accommodation in Vila Nova De Milfontes
This was the perfect place to stay while exploring Milifontes and the surrounding area. Great location - quiet neighbourhood with nice little rooftop terrace overlooking river and out towards beaches. The apartment is clean and cozy with everything you need to feel right at home. Fireplace in living room was a treat on cool nights and the queen sized bed was very comfortable, especially after walking many kms each day along sections of beautiful Rota Vicentina. Juan was a great communicator in booking process. He kindly met us at the bus and shared lots of great information about the area. Excellent place to stay!

Hope to return
Casita Bacana is a lovely house with tons of character in the old part of town very close to the Castle. Juan is a delightful and accommodating host, full of enthusiasm and lots of helpful information about all the great things to do in the area, not to mention restaurant and wine recommendations. We were fortunate to be there for New Year's Eve, and could watch the fireworks from the terrace. We were all sorry to leave and hope to return in the future.

We spent Christmas walking a section of the long distance trail, Rota Vicentina, and staying at Casita Bacana for 6 nights. It was a perfect base and with warmer-than-average temperatures we enjoyed breakfasts on the sunny terrace. Given our day-time exertions, we appreciated that the shower was a good one with lots of hot water! In the evenings we lit the fire and were cosy in the front room. Everything is within walking distance in the town and despite it being low season there were many cafes and restaurants to choose from. A lovely compact house - as long as you don't mind going up and down winding stairs!

We can't wait to come back to this lovely spot
This is a place we can't wait to come back to. It is so comfortable and well located. I knew for the photos it would be a perfect home away from home for us and I was right. The view form the roof terrace is the perfect way to start your day. Right in the heart of town, yet quiet, this home has everything you need. It is very well maintained and the owner and his wife are excellent hosts. They sat down with us on arrival and gave us a o overview the town, where to find everything we could need or want. One of the best things about this house is you can walk to restaurants, the beach and just about any where you need to go. Having a car is good for day trips and Juan, the owner has lots of good advice on these as well. We enjoyed driving down the coast to other beaches as well as hiking. There are so many good restaurants you can't really go wrong, but Juan will give you a list of all the best ones. This is a very family freindly town as well and we look forward to going back with our daughter.

Lovely property in an ideal place
I stayed here with my older sister-in-law and her husband for three nights in October. The property is beautifully renovated and still has much character. The small terrace, off the bedroom on the upper floor, was the perfect place to enjoy a quiet evening with a glass of wine. The stairs could be difficult for anyone unsteady on their feet, but my brother-in-law managed well once he had got used to them. The property is in a perfect spot for restaurants and cafes. I would return. Thank you Taína and Juan for a lovely welcome.
