This property was clean inside, but in a state of disrepair outside. An old brick bungalow that was part way through renovations. It was cold and draughty which meant that the heat pump had to work constantly to keep the house warm on a cold winter's day. Would not meet required safety standards as there were no smoke alarms except for in the kitchen, many extension cords connecting to appliances and a large number of overloaded power boards. We could not recommend this house as a safe place to stay.

Property is in a nice peaceful location and house was tidy and warm. Unfortunately we were left uneasy by live power cords one which was left out hanging over a bush in the front and another indoor extension cable going out from the laundry to a power cable that went to the shed at the back. Both cables plugged an and switched on and exposed to the rain that we had plenty of at the time. Owner was not overly concerned when we mentioned them. Toilet is cold and drafty, Shower pressure is terrible and spa bath doesn't operate. We left after only 2 nights of our 3 night stay.

Enjoyable stay, beautiful view, a great location.

Beautiful spot and with great access to the Albatross & Penguin Colonies and Dunedin at the same time being half way on the peninsula. Lovely old house, which was very clean and cosy inside. Pictures of the outside not quite clear though what it looks like so had a bit of a problem to find it - guess we just had to have our eyes pealed ;-)

A cool, clean and rustic house with all the features to be comfortable. Very well located (especially if you are going to be doing the penguins and albatrosses) and very nice and easy people to deal with. We will return with the next group of friends who visit us from overseas.

Can't beat the location! Was fantastic being able to bring the dog! owners seemed nice. I was uneasy with their being no gate or fence to keep dog off the main road, that would also be a worry with small children, just somthing to be aware of, the shower was awfull, a very odd and unpractical setup with mould unavoidable, great bbq but not a tong or bbq utensil in sight, everything else you could possibly want was there except that. Only other wee catch was the owner keeps her signs for her coffee van business up the road ..on your gate so she's there a bit moving that and also she's coming and going around the house into the back yard to feed her chickens so you don't have privacy. The house definitely needs some work but for a short stay it was fine. Nice clean beds and nice warm heatpump.

Magic views, warm and welcoming place to stay and glad we could bring our dogs. Loved the artwork and hope to return sometime.

Very quite, lovely views. A wee way out of town . But the view is worth it. Local garage gave good service .

Overall this was a great property - the view from the living area was mesmerising. The property was warm and clean, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was a little quirky. I'd stay again.

Home away from home.

Loved the location - Broad Bay is lovely and quiet. We had a little dog with us so wanted somewhere like this to be able to bring her. A Kiwi classic older hotch potch Bach. Now we know about it we will be back.

Great wee place, quirky and old but clean, warm and charming. Amazing views of the harbour, great backyard with laying chickens. Owners had the heatpump on for us so was lovely and warm when we arrived. Great big bath, lounge with games and books, soft beds. Allowed the dogs so made a break away nice and easy. Thanks for having us again, will be back and stay longer to explore the bays.

Lovely peaceful amazing views , felt like home

There was no communication regarding how to enter the property prior to arrival. I was super confused when we got to the property as there is a trailer permanently parked on the property, at the front of the house operating as an ice cream business. There is also a caravan on the other side of the lawn. Was someone in it? I don’t know. Wasn't offered for us to use. Weird. I was assured we wouldn't be bothered. not true. Fruit and plants are sold from the property and the eggs are collected daily to sell at her stall. people were invited to look around the house at some of the plants she had for sale, while we were staying there. We felt we were being watched. One time we threw bread out for birds, it was picked it up and taken down the back to the chickens. There were are no facilities for drying clothes on a wet day. Water pressure was very poor. Taps were not easy for kids to use and they did get burnt. We also feel scammed. The photo of the sandy beach is only big enough for one family. The worst part was one night at 10.30 we heard loud cackling then barking, which set our dog off. (Kids were trying to sleep I might add) So my husband goes out to see what the .. and she has our rubbish all laid out on the lawn “looking for scraps for the chickens” she was literally picking through our rubbish on the front lawn. As a female I was horrified, humiliated, embarrassed and disgusted and decided I would leave. Since returning home I have expressed my feelings to the owners who do not think they have done anything wrong and refuse to be in further communication with me. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Chickens and cats everywhere. Mice running around. Utility is a mess with junk everywhere. Decided to leave early as didn't sleep well in five nights despite paying for the extra days.
