The Retreat on Cloud Nine just received certification from the National Wildlife Federation and Arizona Wildlife Federation as a Wildlife Habitat!
The Casita at the Resort on Cloud Nine has all of the same beautiful natural resource amenities of the nearby exclusive Miraval Resort without the resort pricing! Within Sutherland Heights, it sits high on a bluff, off a private road with easy access to unlimited hiking, biking and horseback trails. Enjoy unsurpassed dramatic mountain views during the day and at night, view spectacular Milky Way and constellation formations from your own private observation deck, floating in the pool or gathered around a camp fire.
This charming casita sleeps 2 and is comfortably furnished with a spacious living room, dining area, full kitchen, bedroom with a queen bed, newly remodeled shower and sitting area plus an oversized bathroom and walk-in closet space. Also includes a private observation deck, cozy evening seating around a fire pit and use of the pool and laundry facilities. Wi-Fi /Internet access plus TV satellite with premium channels is also provided at no additional cost.
If a peaceful, private environment with a plethora of wild life surprises is what you are looking for this is the place for you! Bunnies and quail can be seen from every window along with visits from cardinals, hawks, roadrunners, lizards and owls (a great horned owl rules the area at night). And you haven’t even left the back yard!
There is unlimited hiking in the area with access to the Coronado State forest land only a quarter of a mile away. The Fifty Year Trail, one of the area’s premier mountain biking paths is right down the road.
Another big plus, although you are in an amazing private environment, civilization is close by. You are within 5 minutes to a grocery store, 20 minutes to a shopping cinema complex with not only good Mexican cuisine but some of the best Indian, Chinese and steakhouse eateries in the Tucson / Oro Valley area. Travel another 15 minutes and you will find yourself in the upscale foothills area with La Encantada shopping and more restaurants. Or head in the other direction to experience the newly renovated Tucson downtown area providing a thriving music and night time scene complete with a new streetcar line.

Our stay at Cloud Nine was a bona fide sanctuary that more than lived up to its name—honestly, the most beautiful place we’ve ever stayed. This was the first of what we imagine will be many visits.We loved the absolute privacy and the multiple outdoor sitting areas where we could just relax into the greenery. Waking up early for coffee and bird-watching was blissful, the pool & hot tub were a wonderful luxury, and the mountain sunsets were truly mind-blowing. Despite being in town for a memorial, we found ourselves spending most of our time at the casita because it was just so stunning and restorative.The house itself was spotless and stocked with everything we could possibly need; the bed was incredibly comfortable and the free laundry was a much-appreciated bonus.Carol and Gregory are exceptional hosts. Carol gave us a wonderful tour upon arrival, and both were prompt and easy to reach while giving us plenty of privacy. They even made sure the bird feeders were filled daily! It was a joy to chat with them when we had the chance—Carol is an inspiring artist. It was very hard to leave!

This was our second visit to Cloud Nine, and found it just as we remembered. The Casita is comfortable with all the basic amenities covered for an extended stay. Since we were there for a month, use of a washer and dryer was especially appreciated. The outside spaces are wonderful with lots of seating to view the mountains and watch the birds feeding in the yard. We were treated to an unprecedented heat wave during our stay, so outside activities were limited to early morning hikes (the trails are walkable from the Casita), and sitting in the lounges in the shade in the late afternoon, but nevertheless we ver much enjoyed our stay.
