This cottage is small but cozy. My husband and I very much enjoyed our recent stay and had everything we needed. The grounds are simply amazing, it's a little gem!

We loved our stay here. The cottage, just as described, is wonderfully located in a magical rainforest surround, yet also conveniently close to Kona and great beaches. We had everything needed to enjoy meals and quiet private solitude here, so close to nature. Lovely touches inside and on the grounds, very clean and tidy. Check-in and communications with Mary were efficient and easy. All around an amazing special stay that we'd definitely enjoy returning to and recommend.

We enjoyed our stay! It was nice to be in a cottage a little bit away from the hubbub, but still close enough to everything we wanted to do that we stayed busy! The cottage had a good supply of beach equipment, which was very thoughtful. Overall, lovely little place.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it didn’t fall short in any aspect. It was the perfect cozy cottage for us. We will definitely be coming back!

We loved our stay here! It is only 10-15 minutes away from some great beaches and restaurants. Mary thought of everything a weary traveler needs. We were so impressed by her hospitality and attention to detail. Beautiful place!!

Everything was just as depicted. We had an excellent stay. Feeding the pheasant family was great fun.

Gorgeous cabin and surrounding garden! I was initially a little off-put by the lack of curtains in the living area, but quickly realized it was because it was surrounded by greenery and private. The bedroom has blackout curtains, which is nice. The presentation and decoration was top notch. The family of pheasants that come to eat the scratch provided was definitely a perk. If you miss them in the morning, they will probably visit in the afternoon. There are water activity gear on the back porch like body boards, flippers, pool noodles, etc. The coquis at night are loud and reminded me of Puerto Rico, and added to the tropical vibe. I loved the chorus as it is something I would not hear at home. Lots of mosquitos outside as well. I found bug sprays in the cabin. There are a few pots of stagnant water out front which I suspect might be contributing to the mosquitos. Google maps tells you that you have arrived well before the actual entry onto the property, depending on which direction you are coming from. Ignore it and drive a little further until you see a set of mailboxes on one side and a driveway across from them. Absolutely lovely place, I hope to be back again and will be recommending to everyone. Thanks!

Mary's cottage in the cloud forest is a jungle oasis. Only minutes to the bustle of Kona and all it has to offer, the cottage is a relaxing and rejuvinating world to retreat to. Mary has stocked everything you need to make your stay a welcome one. If Mary's cottage is available, don't hestitate to book it. We certainly will again.

very scenic and beautiful. very clean and well kept - interior and exterior accommodations and amenities very nice and sufficient so didn't have to buy supplemental stuff: ie. spices, ice, soap, shampoo, bug spray, sunscreen, etc Grill was very nice and easy to clean We were here late May - At 2500 ft it can be quite chilly Very comfortable and cozy!

Everything was perfect, I loved the decor inside and out. We enjoyed the lush rain forest also seeing the stars and listening to the Coqui frogs at night left us speechless. I hope to come back soon.

We had a wonderful stay in this rainforest cottage. Great location, 10 minute drive to restaurants and beaches. Quiet and peaceful if your looking for a relaxing place to stay. Temperature was typically 15 degrees cooler than at the beach. Near by rainforest hike and coffee plantation. Better than pictures show and amazing bird and frog sounds all night.

This place was absolutely magical and we loved our time there. The rental is appointed with pretty much everything you might need. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and well manicured... It's absolutely amazing what they have done with the landscaping. At night the frogs come to life and lulled us to sleep. We really loved our stay here!

My daughter and I were awe-inspired by how beautiful the location was and the thoughtful details to provide a perfect retreat. Words cannot express the beautiful of the interior and exterior of the place - and the pictures posted are very representative of the place. Not just beautiful but truly functional and roomy, with goggles, flutter boards, beach chairs and towels and more to make your day to the nearby beaches very enjoyable. The kitchen is well stocked with necessary implements to make meals and snacks easily. The bed is super comfy, the living room seating and tv access nice for relaxing between excursions. Thanks Mary! we will recommend your place to anyone we know visiting the Big Island!

My wife and I added a few days to our trip and decided to try something different from the resort area “vibe”. This location was perfect — the grounds are lush, colorful and well-maintained. Coqui frogs serenade you into the night and colorful Kalesh pheasants greet you as you enjoy morning coffee on the deck. The cabin is comfortable, inviting and well-stocked with everything you need. We were pleasantly surprised to find beach chairs, swim fins, beach towels, cooler and ice packs available as we had only been able to fit our snorkeling gear into our suitcases. Downtown is a quick drive down the hill, as is the airport, so we found this to be a great location to end our trip, hitting CostCo for gas on the way to dropping the rental car off at the airport. We hope to stay here again and take a day or two just to stay put and enjoy this special place.

We spent 8 days enjoying this lovely cottage in the rainforest above Kona! From the sounds of the rain and Coqui frogs at night, the cool afternoons after a hot day at the beach, and moments to relax on the outdoor patios, everything about the cottage was perfect! The host has thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable! We would love to come back to stay at this lovely cottage again!!

Cottage was beautifully decorated and designed. House rules although reasonable we’re articulated in an intimidating fashion. Request to leave house cleaner a gratuity was pretentious, hopefully she pays them appropriately. I don’t like being told to leave a tip. Location was perfect but the host’s tone was offensive.

Mary’s house is very clean , quiet and has beautiful landscape with tropical trees and flowers.we even can see lots of stars at night in the deck, we will definitely come back when we go to the big island.

Really enjoyed this spot. Great communication with the host. There was a lot of bathroom and kitchen essentials already there. It was very peaceful and I liked the outdoor areas including the front and back deck along with the yard. Very clean and the attention to design was great. Highly recommended! There are coqui frogs just like all of the Big Island. Didn't bother me at all but my girlfriend was a bit frustrated by them. This has nothing to do with this specific property. It is a Big Island thing. Be aware that the walls of the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom do not extend all the way to the ceiling. I would prefer if they did (esp the bathroom) but no big deal for me. Loved it! Super nice spot. Book it.

Every year we celebrate our anniversary in a unique place. We usually stay in vacation rentals. Our top rentals so far have been a Lauterbrunnen chalet, Mary's Kona cabin, and a cottage in Vik, Iceland. Mary's place was a GEM for our 48!

We loved our stay here. Gorgeously landscaped property tucked away from it all. Enjoyed coffee and cocktails on the covered deck, especially watching the rain from our perch and listening to the Coqui frogs. The cottage is neat, cozy and well equipped and has a great deck out back. Our hosts were terrific.

We cannot say enough positive things about this cottage. It sits above Kona in a beautiful rainforest in a garden of the most beautiful lush flowers and plants we have ever seen. We enjoyed coffee in the morning on a large deck off the bedroom over looking the property, which is very private. Evenings we sat on the covered porch sipping wine in extremely comfortable rocking/swivel padded chairs listening to rain and the sounds of the rainforest. The inside of this cottage has every amenity you could possibly want or need on vacation. It was such a treat to have coffee provided, kcups. (option of French press) The cottage is very spacious and was perfect for the two of us. Host was very responsive to our questions or needs. Honestly, we could live in this cottage, it was so lovely. The location served us well, as we did not have to deal with any parking issues of downtown and it was an easy drive to anywhere we needed to go. We explored all of Kona, and the coasts, 20 minutes to beach. It is much cooler here than it was down in town and along the coast which made it wonderful for sleeping and relaxing at the property. No AC needed, although there are fans if need them. Perfect last stay on our trip to all four islands.

We stayed here 4 nights and loved every minute of it. There were so many thoughtful touches. We had everything we needed. I loved the views from every door and window. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.
