When we arrived, we were appalled by dirty floors, smelly, stained carpets, and mold and mildew in the bathrooms. Two of the living rooms chairs were so worn that flakes of fake leather fell off onto the floor every time you sat on them. There were few outdoor amenities-- little or no lighting, only a few chairs, and no grill.
When we complained about the condition of the house, the cleaning fee was refunded. That was small compensation for the fact that we bought a new mop and cleaned it ourselves, and that the carpets were smelly and disgusting. The carpets should be replaced, or at least shampooed.
There was also No WI-FI! We followed the instructions correctly, and it still didn't work. This is a necessity in today's world. I ended up walking over to the Surfrider Resort Lobby multiple times so I could use their WI-FI to get work done.
We are the kind of guests you usually want. We are tidy and respectful and don't mind paying a good price for quality. We have never complained about a beach house before. This house was WAY overpriced, and we feel our family time was marred by disappointment! We deserve a big refund!!!

It was an important buying decision since 5 of the 6 guests were high risk due to being over 75 years old with one currently going through chemotherapy treatments. Upon arrival we removed our shoes, as we do at home. It didn't take long to get a visual of exactly how dirty the floor and carpets were. The bottom of our socks were black with residue. We could walk around our house for days and not have that happen. NO excuse for that degree of uncleanliness. The glass table had dried food spots on it. The shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom has mildew on the bottom and the shower enclosure underneath the curtain was not clean. Otherwise, that bathroom was decent. The fan in the living room was hideous. Accumulated dirt and dust were clinging to the face of the fan and blowing in the wind like a flag. What cleaning agents don't notice that. Gunk, grime and filth were present on the floor around the refrigerator and the rails of the sliding glass doors. Multiple stains on the carpets. Generally, in every little nook and cranny there is accumulated dirt/grime that appears not to have been cleaned for months. This leads one to question the cleanliness of everything, which doesn't contribute to the comfort of your guests. We couldn't use the fireplace due to the venting of the chimney has completely eroded. The two worn chairs in the upstairs living room need to be addressed. Get new ones, re-upholster these two but do something! There have been comments in the reviews for years. Unacceptable. If I was the owner of this property, I would be embarrassed to offer it as a rental property. A desired resolution would be a reimbursement of funds given to secure this rental and to see an acceptable improvement to the property so future renters can enjoy the location and provide great memories for their friends and family. The general message the condition of this property demonstrates is you don't really care, which I'm sure is not your intention. This place is decent. It definitely needs some cleaning outside and in. On a positive note it was stocked well. It’s very big with a lot of room to sleep. The view is amazing. Beach access isn’t far. Furniture is a bit worn out. It has a very non-homey smell. It is outdated. Shower in master bath doesn’t drain. The gutters were hanging from the porch and in the yard so the kids had to be very careful (sharp metal) Lots of broke down stuff around the entry porch. All in all it was a place to lay our heads for the night. This home has so much potential but isn’t someplace I would stay again as it is not super inviting.

Parking is shared with hotel so we couldn't park directly next to the house. Kitchen was fully equipped and fully functional. Plenty of extra clean linens. Wifi worked even though I was told there was no wifi. Lots of tv stations. Great heat no AC. Couple of miles from depot bay with great fishing and whale watching.I would recommend this place.

I have been dealing with them since August and still have no resolution. They doo not get back with you! The house had numerous issues. Very dirty, broken furniture, feces on bathroom wall, unfinished walls, piles of trash next to the front door, chunks of broken beer bottles on the sidewalk, our parking was taken by the motel guests. The house has lots of great space, nice view. No hot tub or fire pit as stated in the photos.

On the upper level, there are two bedrooms One is a massive room with 4 beds plus lots of floor space. There are also two rooms downstairs (one with 2 beds and one with a single bed). The kitchen is stocked and the dining room table is large enough to accommodate a big group. Access to the beach was easy and our group had a terrific time there. We also loved being out on the porch and watching the water. Overall, the Surf Rider was clean and perfect for our group. It does not have streaming capabilities for movies, so when we go again we need to be sure to bring DVDs or devices to hook up to the tv for streaming Netflix, etc.

The master bedroom shower clogged the first day. Maintenance fixed it within an 1 1/2 of the call. When we arrived, we all looked forward to the hot tub and fire pit. Neither were there anymore. Plus no one contacted us to let us know that they took them out completely. The hotel staff wasn’t to friendly in letting us use the pool, very rude and unkind. The one lady stated that all she could do was issue the keys, any other questions I needed to call the number. Very frustrating. Over all stay was great. The carpets are pretty stained up and need a really good cleaning. Really need to clean out the dryer vent hose, as drying time took way to long. At the end of the day before we left. The key cards weren’t working all of the sudden, I had to walk to the front desk twice to figure out the problem. They final sent maintenance out. He thought it needed batteries, but I guess the whole board was bad, someone had to stay at the house, while others went out, because if we shut the door, we couldn’t get back in. This was a little of a inconvenience. Thank goodness it didn’t happen the first day. That would of been a pain. The last day, we had to turn in the key cards and leave the door locked and let the front desk know, so they could clean and get the door fix. Overall, great view, would stay here again. The beach was amazing, but quite a walk. Thank you.
