This beautiful one-bedroom suite has returned to the vacation rental operation and it welcomes 2 guests to experience the beautiful life on the Kohala coast. Manaharmony Big Island is a 3-acre property located in Kohala Estates, an agricultural subdivision on the beautiful Kohala coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, merely 4 miles north of Kawaihae harbor. The house has two wings under the same dwelling structure - the main wing and the guest suite wing. The host is the property owner and the original creator of this home who lives in the main wing with her life partner. Ohana Harmony is the guest suite wing of the property. It is a custom-designed and custom-built home which was completed in August 2016. The entire property sits on the Kohala mountain and has an expansive view of the ocean as well as the majestic Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai mountains. Kauna'oa (Mauna Kea), Hapuna, Waialea Bay, Spencer, and Mau'umae beaches, as well as Puako Beach Drive are all within 5-8 miles of the property. The town of Waimea (Kamuela), Mauna Lani resort, and Waikoloa Beach Resort are 20-25 minutes away, providing ample choices of restaurants, grocery shopping, and resort lifestyle. Two scuba dive companies along with kayak and ocean tour operators operate their boats within a 10-20 minutes driving distance from the property. The area is considered to be the drier area of the island, receiving trade winds which keep the sky relatively clear from vog (volcanic fog). Star-gazing on the night skies free of light pollution, whale-watching through binoculars during the whale season, watching the moon rise over Mauna Kea, or being awe-inspired by the light of dawn coinciding with the moon set over the ocean are some of other magical experiences you can enjoy from the comfort and peace of the beautiful lanai of Ohana Harmony. While the property shares the zip code with Waimea (Kamuela/96743), it does not share the weather of Waimea. The Big Island has various micro-climate pockets. The property is located at 500 feet elevation in a dry area. Daytime outdoor temperatures in the warm months are mid to high 80's; in the cool months, high 70's to low 80's. To check the weather, Kawaihae is the nearest weather report location. NO STOVE. -Tabletop BBQ below the lanai. -King bed and closet -En-suite bathroom with shower over tub -Dedicated washer/dryer on the lanai -No A/C. Ceiling fans in every room including the bathroom and the lanai. -Spectrum Cable internet access via WIFI, Vizio TV with Smartcast feature. No TV channels provided. -Easy-carry scuba gear rinsing and drying area (Shared area with property owner) -Beach chairs, beach towels, cooler and blue ice -Outdoor shower with ocean view next to the ohana clothesline -Parking on the left edge of the driveway, or off the street on the property along the cul-de-sac. House Rules Your reservation is not confirmed until the rental agreement is signed. After your booking is accepted, a rental agreement will be sent via email for signature. By signing the rental agreement, you accept the rules and expectations specified in the agreement in its entirety. The followings are the highlights of the most important rules for your safety, peace, and comfort. Violation will result in the termination of rental agreement, immediate termination of occupancy, and the complete forfeit of the rental fees and/or security deposit. -2 guests maximum and at least one guest must be the minimum of 26 years of age. -All overnight guests must register. -No third-party booking. -No pets allowed. -Guests are NOT ALLOWED to bring "stove" of any kind into the unit (no hot plate, induction stove, hot pot, etc.). Guests may only use only convenience appliances as provided by host. Violations mean immediate termination of the reservation as well as occupancy with no refunds. -Please respect our Hawaiian lifestyle. No outdoor shoes inside. -Absolutely no-smoking/no-vaping anywhere indoors or out/around the property -No access to the pool -No party or gathering of any kind -We respect and honor our neighbors. No loud noises or loud music at any time please. Keep the noise at the level you experience in the property surroundings please. -The outdoor shower is in the garden with no enclosure, but it has an amazing full view of the mountains and the ocean. The shower is designed for rinsing off after beach going so that our guests can conveniently keep sands and salt away from the living space. This is a local neighborhood. Keep a swimsuit on in the shower. No nudity outdoors, in the shower and the garden please. -The Big Island is world-famous for stargazing and night skies. To reduce the light pollution on the island, please keep the use of outside lights to a minimum. Do not leave the outside light on overnight. -Due to trade winds and occasional presence of gusty rogue winds which gift us with more days of clear blue skies and relatively clear air from vog (volcanic fog) in North Kohala than other parts of the island, 1. please hang dry and pin your items only on designated clotheslines, not on furnitures, or lanai railings; 2. do not leave unattended belongings outside; 3. we do not provide glass wineglasses or stemware; and 4. do not stand against the winds. In wind gusts, stay low to the ground. -By making the booking at the property, you acknowledge the fact that the house has two separate wings, and your host/owner lives in the main wing. You have reviewed the photos and the floor plan showing the privacy perspective from the guest wing, and you accept the level of privacy or the lack thereof during your stay. Safety Notice and Disclosure Our desire is to provide our guests with the authentic experience of living on the Big Island which includes the reverence and preservation of this sacred land. We have tried to preserve the natural features of the land as much as possible in the design of the home. Equally, we care deeply about the safety of our guests, therefore we earnestly disclose safety notice for your serious considerations and we strongly urge you to make the best judgment about the suitability of the property for the safety of your party before making a reservation. Ohana Harmony is built on a steep hillside of natural loose rocks and soil. The lanai (covered deck and balcony) has cable railing built to code and a 5-15 feet drop onto loose rock steep slopes. The 10-feet drop stone wall is next to the BBQ and outdoor shower. The outdoor shower area is edged by steep slope with loose rocks. There is absolutely no space for children to run around Based on the location of the building structure, the topography and natural terrain of the land, we respectfully declare that in our opinion the property is not a suitable space for guests under the age of 14. Minors of all ages must be supervised by adults at all time. The renters must take full responsibility for the safety of your party, especially minors, if you decide to book despite our disclosure of safety concerns for minors. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver as part of the rental agreement.

What a magical time we had!! We enjoyed sunrise & sunsets from the Lanai. The outdoor shower with view is an incredible experience It is truly dream living, we don't want to leave haha! We've recommended this beautiful home to our friends and family already! Host is so very kind and generous. Very helpful and gave great recommendations. Home is immaculate, so wonderful and clean.

My husband and I stayed at Somtida’s beautiful apartment unit for 5 days. We could not be happier and hope to be back for any future visits to the Big Island. The place is clean, thoughtfully completed for guests and private with stunning views.

Ohana Harmony was heavenly. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the host Somtida, this place was instantly home for our stay. The quaint space was well appointed, and suited our needs just right. It was pleasant to be away from the hustle and bustle of Kona and the resorts. We were greeted every morning to spectacular views on the lanai. Birds were singing and as we ate our breakfasts, we looked for our geckos. They were guaranteed to be crawling about the beautiful wood on the railings, and sunning themselves. It literally was like a little piece of heaven. Somtida was a fabulous host. She provided lots of insight into special places to visit on the island, from her firsthand experiences. We had privacy, but welcomed our delightful conversations with her. We will be back, and look forward to staying at Ohana Harmony again!

We spent a perfect week at Ohana Harmony. The location on the western slope of Kohala offered beautiful unobstructed views of the ocean, surrounding ranch land and the peaks of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai. It was so quiet and relaxing, with only the wind and morning birdsong breaking the silence on our many stays on the roomy lanai. The owner has lovingly decorated the unit to make it a casual, spacious retreat and all the furnishings were clean and very well maintained. The kitchen was compact, but had all the amenities we needed to make some great meals sourced from the local markets. The home was stocked with some nice extras that really enhanced our stay, like bottled water, lunch snacks, beach towels & chairs, and a local snorkeling guide. We were a short drive to some great beaches, hiking trails, and dining options. The VRBO description and pictures are all accurate, albeit more impressive in person, but what is not noted is the warm and welcoming host, Somtida. While we would have had a great experience regardless, she really went the extra mile to ensure our stay was our best yet to the Big Island.

This property is amazing! Relaxing mornings with the sounds of birds, beautiful views and outstanding accommodations. The place was spacious, clean, bright and airy. The bed was comfortable the lanai was spectacular. It was private and had everything needed for a wonderful stay. The pictures are spot on and this place did not disappoint. Somtida is a kind and welcoming host. If you want privacy no problem. If you have any questions she’s easily accessible. We will definitely stay here again.

Great communication, Somtida does respect your privacy, great person to deal with. The property is same as on the pictures but after check in your will see and feel it is just so much better. The view is just amazing. Every piece of the property was thoughtfully placed and organized. Somtida did an amazing job to make everybody feel welcome. it is very quiet place and every morning we woke up with a birdsongs. If you want to get away from chaos and recharge your body and soul book this place! There is not CONS just PROS!!!
