About this house rental

Update 2024: I've taken my own advice to "Work Remotely here" and happy to continue sharing the Chalet while I continue to travel throughout the year. Please reach out with date requests! - High-speed Wi-Fi, solid cell reception, desks, office chair, and printer provided. The Chalet's modest entry and foyer lead to a dramatically open Living Room: cathedral ceilings with a wall of windows open to the gigantic deck and views beyond! Modeled after a Swiss Chalet and designed for both comfort and entertaining, this custom-built Passive Solar home has generously sized rooms with an abundance of spaces to gather, as well as spots for more intimate relaxation. It is all welcoming, yet cozy. The decks draws everyone outdoors to the mountain and pastoral views at “bird level”. Plenty of seating options, a gas grill, and a gate at the top of the stairs… enjoyable at all hours of the day! Retire to one of 2 East wing bedrooms sharing a bathroom, or to the Master Suite featuring a bath with double-sink and a huge walk-in shower. The Sweet Suite apartment on the lower level is accessed through the Rec Room and has a private bedroom, bathroom, and 2nd Kitchen (the sleeper sofa is in the apartment living area). A 65” smart TV, ping pong table, bar tables and stools, and seating area span the Recreation Room. The hot tub is just steps from the Recreation Room, where the patio leads to a level grassy area and space for yard games overlooking a private 8 acres. Our home combines modern conveniences with original features, creating character and ambiance not found anywhere else. There are areas in need of cosmetic "updates", no doubt about that! The dream renovation is still in the planning phase. For now, everything functions as it should and we welcome your design suggestions! The Kitchen and baths are fully functional with a fun, groovy esthetic - all cabinets were built by the original owner in what had been his wood workshop downstairs. The Chalet is a peaceful escape, so close to all things Asheville, and unquestionably one of the most unique vacation homes in the area. We hope you’ll enjoy the views, privacy, and access to Asheville this property has to offer as much as we do. Access is by Interstate and 4 miles on a state highway. Had a fantastic long weekend with friends This home has absolutely everything you could possibly need. Plenty of rooms and room to enjoy a group together or some downtime to relax on your own. Lots of space outdoors for dogs to run free. This was my second time there and I will go again in the future. Paula, the host was great and responded to any of our questions cheerfully and was ready to assist in any way

The property is beautiful and the online picture are misleading. Great doen style facility for a church retreat but rather uncomfortable for a family getaway. The property space is large but it resembles a home from the 90’s. Needs updating, some features are primitive, and before you check out they have a detailed list of requests to renters regarding cleaning. Again, this is great if you’re expectations are moderate for a large gathering.

This property was a perfect fit for our family reunion weekend. Location was quiet and private, and the view was spectacular. Lots of space to spread out, or hang out together. Ping Pong table got plenty of use, and we enjoyed putting together a puzzle we found in the game cabinets (we were relieved to find that all of the pieces were in the box). The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and entertaining. Queen sized beds in all of the bedrooms was a real bonus, and they were comfortable (on the firm side, which we like). The radiant floor heat in the master bathroom was very welcome in the morning. Minor issues: The listing shows that there are four full bathrooms, but there are only 3 full bathrooms, and one spare shower. The driveway is very steep, and in need of repair as there are a few substantial potholes which can be difficult to dodge in the dark (until you learn where they are). A couple are marked with small traffic cones, but the one near the peak of the hill is not, and really needs to be. The light on the front porch did not work, and the shared bathroom toilet on the main floor would run from time to time which was addressed by a family member every time it occurred. None of these issues would prevent us from renting again, though. As mentioned by others, the property is dated, but comfortable. It reminded me of many houses I visited as a child, and left me with pleasant undercurrent of happy nostalgia. Overall a really good place to stay.

This was the perfect place for our reunion of old friends. The home is not far from Ashville, but rural enough that you see actual stars. We appreciated the cleanliness and organization of the host. Easily the best equiped home we have rented for these trips. Whether together again or with our own families, we will come back

Booked the chalet for a getaway for the family. The scenery is spectacular and the 8 acres gave us privacy, quiet and room to play outdoors with the kids and dog. The house is very spacious with room for the family to spread out and have everything they need. The TV room and ping pong table were a big hit in the evenings. The kitchen is unbelievably well stocked for a large gathering with everything you could want to host elaborate meals. The owner installed a brand new hot tub in late August which was very relaxing. The owner and the property manager were lovely to work with and made our stay special. The area is rural but a short drive from Weaverville (grocery store and cute restaurants) and 20 minutes from Asheville and all that it offers.

This property gave us the perfect view of the mountains, which is exactly what my son wanted for his birthday. It was close to town and they were able to Uber into the city each night to have a great time. The downstairs was the perfect party place for them after they returned with a ping pong table, the hot tub and plenty of room to play cards and play guitar and have a great time. The kitchen was supplied with everything that I needed to make a big breakfast and to entertain everyone for a birthday dinner. The caretaker was very receptive to any questions that I had and the check-in and checkout process was extremely easy. Thank you for a wonderful week.

We had a great stay at the Country Chalet. We were a group of 9 adults and one child. We felt like we had plenty of room to spread out but the house also offers a good porch and dining area to gather as a group.

The pictures of the view off the back deck do not do it justice, it's exceptional. Well furnished kitchen other than things like spices which is probably too be expected. The mattresses in the smaller rooms and fold out couch were not great, but that's really my only complaint I have. Very roomy place and a great place to go and relax in the mountains.
