14 mi to Asheville - convenience with privacy, 8 Acres, Hot Tub & Mtn Views
About this house rental
Update 2024: I've taken my own advice to "Work Remotely here" and happy to continue sharing the Chalet while I continue to travel throughout the year. Please reach out with date requests! - High-speed Wi-Fi, solid cell reception, desks, office chair, and printer provided. The Chalet's modest entry and foyer lead to a dramatically open Living Room: cathedral ceilings with a wall of windows open to the gigantic deck and views beyond! Modeled after a Swiss Chalet and designed for both comfort and entertaining, this custom-built Passive Solar home has generously sized rooms with an abundance of spaces to gather, as well as spots for more intimate relaxation. It is all welcoming, yet cozy. The decks draws everyone outdoors to the mountain and pastoral views at “bird level”. Plenty of seating options, a gas grill, and a gate at the top of the stairs… enjoyable at all hours of the day! Retire to one of 2 East wing bedrooms sharing a bathroom, or to the Master Suite featuring a bath with double-sink and a huge walk-in shower. The Sweet Suite apartment on the lower level is accessed through the Rec Room and has a private bedroom, bathroom, and 2nd Kitchen (the sleeper sofa is in the apartment living area). A 65” smart TV, ping pong table, bar tables and stools, and seating area span the Recreation Room. The hot tub is just steps from the Recreation Room, where the patio leads to a level grassy area and space for yard games overlooking a private 8 acres. Our home combines modern conveniences with original features, creating character and ambiance not found anywhere else. There are areas in need of cosmetic "updates", no doubt about that! The dream renovation is still in the planning phase. For now, everything functions as it should and we welcome your design suggestions! The Kitchen and baths are fully functional with a fun, groovy esthetic - all cabinets were built by the original owner in what had been his wood workshop downstairs. The Chalet is a peaceful escape, so close to all things Asheville, and unquestionably one of the most unique vacation homes in the area. We hope you’ll enjoy the views, privacy, and access to Asheville this property has to offer as much as we do. Access is by Interstate and 4 miles on a state highway. Had a fantastic long weekend with friends This home has absolutely everything you could possibly need. Plenty of rooms and room to enjoy a group together or some downtime to relax on your own. Lots of space outdoors for dogs to run free. This was my second time there and I will go again in the future.
Paula, the host was great and responded to any of our questions cheerfully and was ready to assist in any way

The property is beautiful and the online picture are misleading. Great doen style facility for a church retreat but rather uncomfortable for a family getaway. The property space is large but it resembles a home from the 90’s. Needs updating, some features are primitive, and before you check out they have a detailed list of requests to renters regarding cleaning.
Again, this is great if you’re expectations are moderate for a large gathering.

This property was a perfect fit for our family reunion weekend. Location was quiet and private, and the view was spectacular. Lots of space to spread out, or hang out together. Ping Pong table got plenty of use, and we enjoyed putting together a puzzle we found in the game cabinets (we were relieved to find that all of the pieces were in the box). The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and entertaining. Queen sized beds in all of the bedrooms was a real bonus, and they were comfortable (on the firm side, which we like). The radiant floor heat in the master bathroom was very welcome in the morning. Minor issues: The listing shows that there are four full bathrooms, but there are only 3 full bathrooms, and one spare shower. The driveway is very steep, and in need of repair as there are a few substantial potholes which can be difficult to dodge in the dark (until you learn where they are). A couple are marked with small traffic cones, but the one near the peak of the hill is not, and really needs to be. The light on the front porch did not work, and the shared bathroom toilet on the main floor would run from time to time which was addressed by a family member every time it occurred. None of these issues would prevent us from renting again, though. As mentioned by others, the property is dated, but comfortable. It reminded me of many houses I visited as a child, and left me with pleasant undercurrent of happy nostalgia. Overall a really good place to stay.

This was the perfect place for our reunion of old friends. The home is not far from Ashville, but rural enough that you see actual stars. We appreciated the cleanliness and organization of the host. Easily the best equiped home we have rented for these trips. Whether together again or with our own families, we will come back

Booked the chalet for a getaway for the family. The scenery is spectacular and the 8 acres gave us privacy, quiet and room to play outdoors with the kids and dog.
The house is very spacious with room for the family to spread out and have everything they need. The TV room and ping pong table were a big hit in the evenings.
The kitchen is unbelievably well stocked for a large gathering with everything you could want to host elaborate meals. The owner installed a brand new hot tub in late August which was very relaxing.
The owner and the property manager were lovely to work with and made our stay special. The area is rural but a short drive from Weaverville (grocery store and cute restaurants) and 20 minutes from Asheville and all that it offers.

This property gave us the perfect view of the mountains, which is exactly what my son wanted for his birthday. It was close to town and they were able to Uber into the city each night to have a great time. The downstairs was the perfect party place for them after they returned with a ping pong table, the hot tub and plenty of room to play cards and play guitar and have a great time. The kitchen was supplied with everything that I needed to make a big breakfast and to entertain everyone for a birthday dinner. The caretaker was very receptive to any questions that I had and the check-in and checkout process was extremely easy. Thank you for a wonderful week.

We had a great stay at the Country Chalet. We were a group of 9 adults and one child. We felt like we had plenty of room to spread out but the house also offers a good porch and dining area to gather as a group.

The pictures of the view off the back deck do not do it justice, it's exceptional. Well furnished kitchen other than things like spices which is probably too be expected. The mattresses in the smaller rooms and fold out couch were not great, but that's really my only complaint I have. Very roomy place and a great place to go and relax in the mountains.

This place was perfect for our family vacation. It was great for all ages! The view was also amazing and Paula was a joy to rent from. She answered every question I had and in a timely manner. Highly recommend this spot!

What an amazing place. We were there for a week vacation in July. We had 6 adults, 2 Children and 3 Dogs. Even with so many people the space felt incredibly large. The downstairs apartment was absolutely perfect for some privacy without the rest of the family. Being able to walk out the back door from the apartment right out to the hot tub was perfectly convenient. The views from the deck (especially during an amazing lightning storm) were majestic. Paula is an absolutely amazing and understanding host. She was very responsive and accommodating. We were so excited to feign our vacation we ended up checking in a day early with a last minute request. We had such an amazing time we stayed an extra day also, with an additional last minute request. The seclusion of this property was my favorite part and the reason we go out to nature. Being able to let the dogs run was as amazing for us as it was for them. It’s was a very memorable vacation for 9 days and I can’t thank Paula enough for sharing her home with us. Thank you!

This property is one of the nicest we have stayed in, in Asheville. We traveled in from Charlotte as a party of 9 to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The home provides plenty of space, fun amounts of doors to storage space to open and close, lots of labels and pictures. We made so many memories at this home, you can immediately feel the warmth walking in.
The communication with Paula was stellar and prompt.
We loved every minute here!

We were an extended family of 11 spending Thanksgiving week at this property. The views from the patio were Breathtaking. We had plenty of room for us not to be on top of each other. The home is very well stocked and even provided Thanksgiving platters/servers for our family meal. Communication was awesome and my youngest daughter got engaged on the property! We were close enough to the nearest grocery and downtown Asheville/Biltmore Estate.

I truly cannot recommend this property enough to folks looking to visit the Asheville area. The view from the back porch alone would've made this a great property, but the fact that it's a spacious home, a 20 minute drive to downtown, and the responsiveness from Paula really made this an incredible trip.

The deck and views are simply amazing and while that could have been enough, there was more. Large house with plenty of space for all of us to spread out. The kitchen was fully equipped and we made some great meals. Everything was labeled so well that it just made everything easy. We will definitely be back ! Thank you for a great memorable stay!

This house is huge! Great for a large group to stay. It’s a step back into the late 70’s early 80’s decor. Very private.

The house is on an amazing property with a beautiful view. It was not too far to venture into Asheville for lunch, but we mostly didn't want to leave this beautiful space.
The house was well stocked and perfectly organized, so it was easy to find what we needed. As it was rainy and gloomy, it would have been nice if the fireplace had worked, but that certainly did not dampen our stay!

Beautiful views!
Our family recently spent a week at the chalet and it was perfect! The house has plenty of space to spread out. Paula was a great communicator and answered any questions we had as we prepared for our stay! We loved the music welcome when we arrived and the house was SO clean! Paula really has thought of everything. She even set out special dishes to accommodate our cooking needs. Our kids especially loved the ping pong table and the wide open green space to run around. We enjoyed walking around on the property and sitting out on the deck in the morning and evening. The location is very convenient… short drive to Weaverville for groceries and Asheville for food and shopping. We hope to plan another trip soon… would love to see the property in the fall!

What a view!
We stayed for a week at the Chalet with our older kids. We loved the house! We spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the breathtaking view and looking for wild animals and bird watching. Even when inside, you can enjoy the view through the large windows.
My son enjoyed having his own space downstairs, which is like it’s own apartment. The upstairs kitchen is very well equipped with everything you will need, so that made meal prep easy. We loved the whole house sound system too, so we could listen to music together. The Wifi was excellent. I was able to log on for my work a couple of times and it stayed online consistently during our trip.
The location is close enough to Asheville to be close to attractions but far enough out to feel like you are away from city life for awhile. The house is close to Weaverville to be able to quickly get groceries and pizza from Blue Mountain (highly recommended!).
Thanks for a lovely vacation!

Great views, lots of space
A few families gathered at this house for the weekend and had a great time. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out, great views from the back porch (and the kitchen and the living room), and a large dining table so the whole group can eat together. There was a small issue but it was fixed very quickly by the very responsive folks that take care of the property.

Thanksgiving Family Get away
We had the absolute best family vacation here. The location was perfect! Its looked just far enough away from city to feel like you are in the mountains but close enough (20mins) to downtown to enjoy downtown Asheville!
The house was clean with lots of space and beautiful views. The caretakers and owner were so nice and responsive with answers and recommendations of things to do. Everything was clearly marked and we felt so welcomed. I will definitely book again!

Large house with comfortable beds and great views of the mountains. The house was great for large gatherings with both indoor and outdoor seating for 10+ (each). Plus the game room downstairs with extra high top seats! Owners were very responsive.
House was dated, but clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.

We (senior Floridians) chose this place because of it's deck/view. We had a little difficulty opening the non-digital lock box. Upon entering your eyes will glance upon a true 90's throwback mountain home. The many jewel tone walls, walnut trim, distressed leather, brown wall plates, dated but sufficient kitchen, and low-rise bathroom vanities.
The biggest surprise was how clean it is. NO dog hair or odor. Floors exceptionally clean w/o dust bunnies. The tv has Prime & Netflix so bring your list of things to binge. If cable/local news is your thing, you will need a work around. The master bedroom's mattress was great along with the bath's shower head and towels.
The main event is the deck. A large portion is covered which worked out great since we experienced a tropical depression. There is a gate at the top of the deck stairs so our fur babies won't feel the need to chase the critters
Paula was great to work with and responsive to the many questions I had prior to arrival.
If there were 1/2 stars I would have given 4-1/2 stars. I feel 5 stars should be repair free and should include trial sizes of foil, oil, condiments, baggies, bar soap along with menus & attraction pamphlets.

We had a wonderful stay. The house has an amazing view of the fields and mountains, and a great porch on which to sit and gaze. Very clean, one of the best equipped kitchens (2, actually) and perhaps the most organized home we've ever stayed in - everything labeled, with very helpful pictures. Comfortable and well located for Asheville and area attractions. Paula is responsive and helpful. Only one quibble - there's no cable or satellite TV programming - everything is streaming. Not usually an issue, except during the Olympics, and if you read carefully it does state that in the description. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family did a week stay for a milestone birthday. The house was completely set up for us and we enjoyed everything moment together. Paula was responsible to the only issue that arose during our stay (2 hour power outage due to a summer storm).
This is the perfect location for family gatherings!!
