We needed to get away for a bit in this crazy pandemic and this was a pretty good place to be. The stream that runs behind the house was the draw for the property, kids had fun swimming, playing, climbing, in it everyday. Vermont had pretty strict quarantine rules for out-of-state visitors and we ended up packing enough food for 7-days and didn’t leave the property.
The house was rustic and comfortable, but basic. It was pretty clean considering how rural it is. There were a few minor things that could use some update (i.e. blinds for the sliding door, could use a screen door for the sliding door so that it can be left open, towel bar for downstairs bathroom is coming off the wall), but they were really minor. The stream wasn’t the easiest to access, involving a short steep downhill. There was a half-built staircase, hopefully it’ll be finished soon to make getting down to the stream easier in the future. The pictures showed a playground in the yard that was not there anymore. The biggest problem that we had was that there were a couple of mice living in the wall and you could hear them scratching sometimes in the upstairs bathroom. They would come out each night in the kitchen with a couple of mouse droppings in the morning, so we needed to make sure that the counter was clear of food. The cupboards were clean and kept the mice out of our food. The TV wasn’t connected to the internet, so we couldn’t log into any streaming service. It would be nice to let renters know so that they can bring a chrome cast or something like that for streaming movies and shows for the kids. Overall, it was nice and quiet, the stream was a hit with the kids. Given the pandemic, it was a good social-distancing vacation for us.

Nice stream for families with young kids that avoids crowd

Jan. Ski weekend with friends, family and our 2 dogs

Plenty of space and quiet
This home met all of our needs for our stay in Vermont (my husband and I stayed at this property with our two young children, ages 3 and 1.5). It was further off the "beaten path" than we realized but was beautiful and quiet. The house was not as clean as I would have preferred but still worked well for us.

The best part of the house were the swimming holes, although they were difficult to access due to the steepness of the slope.
The house was further from Killington and a large grocery store than we realized, but the location was quiet.
There were gun safes in the house, which were secure and safe, but with a family would have preferred to know about them ahead of time.
Lots of games and puzzles to play and great WiFi.
Bedrooms were good sizes and plenty of clean towels.

Nice and private, in the middle of forests. Could go walking every day with the dog on the roads without fear of heavy traffic, and found some unkempt trails through the forest. The management is efficient at keeping this house spic and span. It is easy to check-in - I did not have to talk or call anyone - everything was very well organised, which is exactly how I like it.

Our young family had a lovely
Stay over the thanksgiving break. Everything was clean, in working order, and the location was ideal.
This of ZERO fault to the home owners but wanted to share this for future renters of young children. Admittedly, I don’t know absolutely nothing about firearms. Yet, when setting up the pack in play in the downstairs bedroom for my 2 year old , it appears that there were firearms locked up SAFELY in the closet. Also, appeared there was a firearm located in a briefcase-like safe under the master bed. I manipulated the safes slightly just to make sure they were Locked and it appeared they were. Yet, because I don’t know firearm safety and protocol, I didn’t know how to “make sure”. I just had to TRUST, which isn’t easy to do with three small children. I want to be very clear that the homeowner appeared responsible and this is NOT a negative review. However, if I’d known of there were firearms in the home, I would have chosen a different rental.

We had a good stay
We had a good stay however we lost power several times on Saturday early am which affected the wifi and tv. So we had no means really to contact the rental company.
Manager Comments: I am glad to hear you had a good time. It was unfortunately that there was power outage during you stay. There was a transformer that failed, causing the power outage was through out the whole area brought on by the winter storm the come hit the area Friday and most of Saturday.

This house was perfect for our family ski adventure. Killington is so close and we ended the day with some local brews at the Long Trail Brewery down the road which has a lovely outdoor firepit for everyone to enjoy.
The house itself was cosy warm but had plenty of space, clean and had everything we needed.
Thanks for having us to stay!

Lovely House!
We loved our time here! House was very cool with lots of neat features. Very spacious, not problem with room for my wife and I, two kids and a dog. Scenery was beautiful with the river behind us. Just a short walk up the road and the river is even more spectacular. Location was great too. We climbed Killington Peak and went to the national monument in Woodstock, both were less that 20 mins away. Will be back again soon!

A terrific family & group rental for any Vermont excursion
My group and I had a fantastic stay at 'Hakuna Matata', near Killington, Vt, during the third weekend of January, 2016. It was warm, comfortable, accommodating, pristinely maintained, and otherwise a lovely & beautiful place from which we based our ski vacation. The trip to the slopes in the morning was quick and the house had everything we needed for when we returned, and more. The booking process was painless, the price was fair given the high demands of the season, and we truly felt like all of our needs were met and exceeded. It was a charming little piece of New England heaven. I would readily recommend this rental to anyone - especially larger groups and families - looking to truly immerse themselves in an enjoyable, outdoorsy Vermont vacation.

We had a nice, relaxing stay
The house was not fussy, but very comfortable. The location was good, halfway between Woodstock and Killington. The temperatures were too warm to ski sot we hiked Cardigan Hill in New Hampshire, Robert Frost trail near Middlebury, and Queechee gorge. We spent a very relaxing day at the spa in the Woodstock Inn. We had a tasty dinner at Prestons, the new restaurant at the Grand Hotel at Killington. We cooked one dinner at the house and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom could have used more towels, but other than that it was private, peaceful and a nice place to relax for a few days.
