About this condo rental
Situated in Playa del Carmen, this lovely condo for $116 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Hi, Thank you for looking us over. Our Casa Mariposita is a beautiful condo with 2 bedrooms, each with King-size beds. We also have 2 Full baths with walk-in marble showers. We are located in the condo complex Chan Bahlum. Just a 2 min. walk to Mamitas Beach and 30sec. to 5th Avenue (Quinta Avenita) The small intimate complex has two buildings with 3 apts. in each, so at times you feel you have the place to yourself. Our condo is on the second floor with two balconies, one overlooking the street and the main balcony overlooking the pool and beautiful tropical gardens, the perfect place for coffee and breakfast. If rest and relaxation are what you need, you've found it! We love our place in paradise and we know you will too. Many of our guests have said 'I have never felt so at home on vacation before'. For larger groups we also have the condo above us available as well. Horrible stay. The suite shows well but it’s when you stay a bit, it’s true Color’s start to show.
The live music BOOMING (no exaggeration) every single night finally stopped at 1am. INSANE ! We were exhausted.
We were unable to close the bathroom windows for the duration of the week. Both windows had broken glass (open to the elements) and mechanisms that didn’t work. IT WAS 30C outside and, AND, unable to close the window to the bands.
We were locked out of the suite trapped on the balcony for 15-20 minutes as I tried to jiggle the door open. The locking latch caught upon closing. It did it while in the suite as well. Quite unnerving. Keys locked in suite, phones too.
We couldn’t cook as the kitchen utensils were soiled, stained, and rusty. I wish I could post the pics. Not cooking friendly at all.
The rattan bed was tremendously noisy. We had to take the sheets off and sleep on the futon for 6 nights.
The construction noise next door was not really a bother but it went from 7:30 to 18:00 everyday.
The suite was clean upon arrival but the second bathroom reeked right from the start. REEKED
We did our best to overlook each issue as we were on holiday but it kept getting worse and worse.

I had a unique vacation situation that put me in a bind due to a cancellation at a different resort. Lyle and Jan worked with me big time to solve my problem! They are the best VRBO hosts ever! The property is great but the customer service is even greater. I cant wait to book again soon!

The property was an easy walk to the beach and to all the action of 5th Avenue. Condo was clean and comfortable with everything needed for a great stay. We had trouble opening the door at check-in, but Lyle quickly worked to find a solution. Communication was great with the owner and he even followed up after the stay to make sure we enjoyed the property. You can't go wrong with this property if you are looking for a non-resort option close to tons of restaurants, shopping and the beach. All within easy walking distance. We would highly recommend.

Such a beautiful space.
Beautiful condo, beautiful setting. The decor is lovely, the beds comfortable. The kind of place you wish you could stay in for months. Less than a block from 5th avenue. The music from 5th bled into the bedrooms and outdoors until late but we rolled with it with the help of white noise sound machine apps. And there may not always be live bands at that particular bar. Won’t discourage us from returning.

I’ll try to stay here as much as possible moving forward.

What a find!!
We've been coming to Playa Del Carmen (PDC) for decades, love the town, the beach, the people. We were THRILLED with this unit. You can't find a better location; a spacious "home" in the middle of the city, but far enough away from the noise and yet less than a minute to Starbucks, restaurants and The Street (Avenida 5). A 5 minute walk to Kool Beach Club. Perfect.

We loved the location and the mexico vibe within the condo,lyle the owner was very helpful in bringing this once in a lifetime experience to light with lots of knowledge of the area and so easy to get a hold of, don't stay here if you want a resort controlling what you eat when you eat or what you do for entertainment ,great , great place , the pool was abit on the cool side it didn't get much sun but the ocean is so close and the shady pool was so welcoming after a full day at the beach, it was a clean pool that we had to our selves everyday lol , very great restaurants all within walking distance and many choices of goodness, we are so happy our story of playa del carmen is about us and not a resort that you do the same everyday but of what we were able to experience , do try you wont regret.+ Partingtons. Close to so many things, easy to relax !
We enjoyed our stay very much. We loved having 2 balconies, one to watch the action on the street, and one to listen to the doves while reading and having our morning coffee.
We used the pool every day and went to the beach several times. The pool was refreshing! Beach umbrellas were available in the condo which were very useful.
The condo is as shown, lovely and clean as are the grounds and pool area.
We walked every day to shop, eat and explore the town. There are a lot of terrific cafes nearby. Taxi's are close by if you need one.
We used to stay at all-inclusive resorts while in Mexico, we are happy we went with VRBO.
Using the Cancun shuttle service Lyle suggested worked perfectly and was reasonably priced.

Perfect Playa Location!
This condo sits less than a block from bustling 5th Avenue yet is surprisingly quiet. The positioning of the bldg is perfect for enjoying evening breezes on the shaded main deck (or people watching from the small front deck). It also keeps the unit cool without excessive AC use.
Making online rental arrangements can feel risky, but this unit is exactly as shown in the listing photos. When we arrived it was very clean, well maintained and comfortable. Lyle was wonderful to deal with and went out of his way to provide helpful advice prior to our arrival.
We absolutely recommend Unit 2 at Chan Bahlum without hesitation!

Lyle and Jan, what a beautiful condo you have. Everything you need is there. So close to 5th with so many restaurants and shopping is awesome. Beds were so comfortable. Mid Holiday Escape
This property does not mislead in its description! Great location with easy access to 5th Avenue, taxis and great restaurants. Unit was exactly as described with a warm, welcoming vibe. Lyle and Jan were extremely helpful and informative, as was everyone we met in Playa del Carmen. Be sure to use the shuttle service from the Cancun Airport. Flawless service.

Fantastic location and very comfortable dwelling in charming Playa
First time in Playa and loved the vibe, Martina’s Beach Club - little longer walk than Mamita’s, but well worth it - many, many good, inexpensive restaurants, and Hector, our driver was wonderful! He picked us up from airport, took us on day excursion to Chichen Itza and Il Kil cenote, and took us back to airport.
The unit is marvelous - very comfortable beds and relatively spacious bathrooms. We loved the multiple terraces. The kitchen and supplies well-appointed, though we didn’t use it much - see above.
Also, notable for tennis, yoga, and track enthusiasts - Interplaya Park around the corner on 10th Ave. offers free yoga - Alejandra is amazing! and tennis. You can also run on soft track and watch really good soccer practice mid morning.
Also, good yoga at The Gym - Alan’s Vinyasa class is very good, $16/session.

Excellent value close to everything and clean
First off this was our first experience not going to a resort, and Lyle was quick to answer all of our rookie questions promptly and we really appreciated having transport to/from the airport arranged by him as well. Both drivers were prompt, friendly and service was excellent.
We stayed 21 days and found the location was great and close to everything! Just around the corner for 5th Ave with all of the restaurants and coffee shops, and yes all that shopping! Just a short walk (15-20min) to the Mega or (20-25min) to the Walmart for groceries. Inexpensive taxi from either back to the condo (70-100pesos).
Lyle also guided us on the Beach Clubs, and we enjoyed Encanto Beach Club for 350 pesos per person (which goes towards anything your eat or drink) each, which while a 15-20min walk away was very quiet compared to the ones closer by that cost considerably more crowded.cost much more and were really loud!
The unit itself was nice and clean and had everything you could need to eat in. As we were staying 21 days we requested a cleaning once a week, which Lyle arrange for us for 350 pesos and it was a very through cleaning taking 2.5hrs long.
We barely used the AC as by keeping the doors to the two patios open and the ceiling fans going there was a nice breeze thru the unit. The only time we turned on the AC was at night as there was some noise coming from 5th Ave, usually Friday and Saturday night, but with the patio doors shut you hardly heard anything.
The pool was shaded, plus big enough to cool down in after a day walking around, and the grounds were cleaned regularly, and the gated secure condo complex is small and is very quiet, consisting of two buildings and only three units per building.
We were surprised at how quiet the common area around the pool was given that you are steps away from busy 5th Ave, and we enjoyed time there reading or sitting up on the main balcony having breakfast and coffee in there morning, and a few days we just simply stayed there relaxing and reading.
We recommend this place based on the cost and its convenience to everything you can access.

Better than a resort!
Location could not have been better. Charming Mexican property & furnishings. Very secure & comfortable. Stayed for 2 weeks & did so much more than we have done previously at resort vacations. It was great to have Netflix & music system on the day it rained. The Breville counter oven is a fantastic appliance & did not heat the apartment up. Lyle & Jan were very gracious hosts, wonderful to work with. It was great to know that Marinho/Eduardo were meeting us & returning us to the airport. Both went out of their way to help. The pool area was a peaceful little sanctuary, water cold though. No complaints; thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great Location
Condo was steps from 5th Ave. where all the shops and restaurants you could ever want are, and just 2 blocks from Mamitas Beach where we attended the annual Riviera Maya Jazz Festival. Lyle's friend Marinho who picked us up and returned us to the airport was very nice and helpful. He stopped at the grocery store for us on the way to the condo which was very helpful.

We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed it. Condo suited all our needs and was in a great location central to all we wanted to access. This was our second time staying at this condo and will not be the last!

Great location!
First off, Lyle was great with communication through email and that is really appreciated. The condo was very clean, spacious and cool (we hardly used the A/C). Screens on all the windows a plus! We travelled with 2 kids (2 yrs and 4 yrs old) and it was very manageable with them in this condo. The beds/pillows/linens were very comfortable, we had great sleeps. The location is great, so close to 5th ave. We appreciated the proximity to many nearby restaurants (our fav was Chez Celine for breakfast), but there are sooo many others. Being that close to 5th there is some evening noise, which is to be expected, however, it was a very quiet complex and, like I said, we slept well. Kitchen is a bit awkward to make large meals, but you can still make do, plus you are in Playa Del Carmen so how many home cooked meals are you really going to make? Pool was in the shade almost always during our stay, which is what we were looking for since we would be drenched with sun at the beach. It was very refreshing to swim in the pool after being at the beach for a couple hours. Also, Marinho, our recommended driver, was great as well. Would definitely recommend this place...and driver!!

Great location and a great condo steps from the heart of Playa.
Well maintained and comfortable. Everything you need is here, So much better than a hotel at a competitive rate. I visit Playa 3-4 times a year and this is my favorite condo I’ve rented. I will definitely rent again. The owner even provided contact with a driver, Marinho, who provided our transportation. Everything went well and no issues at all.
