Newly Renovated Artist Loft in Historic Building Near ~BART~
About this apartment rental
This recently remodeled open concept loft is a ten minute walk to the 19 St BART, a few blocks from Lake Merritt, a Whole Foods market and downtown Oakland. Coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries, and dance studio spaces dot the immediate neighborhood. The architectural appointments of this cityscape studio merge past and future, with oak floors, exposed brick walls, glass brick room dividers, stainless steel appliances, and granite counter tops. The view from the living area is of an enclosed patio roof garden and the condo space includes a full size, fully equipped kitchen, separate eating area, and bathroom with tile shower. A floor to ceiling curtain may be used to divide the space into two semi-private sleeping areas. One section contains a queen-sized bed, the other an especially comfortable Queen sized convertible sofa bed. Keywords: Studio Loft

This is a funky (in a good way) loft in an historic building. Owner is friendly. The neighborhood had a lot of activity at night. The water hotpot had mold in it. Also the trash was not removed from the previous guest - probably just overlooked along with a couple of other small items.

We enjoyed our stay
Everyone was kind and accommodating.
Loft was cozy, romantic and stocked with everything you need. A home away from home. We loved our six week stay.

Cozy loft is a true statement. Love being here.
Sheila and Lissa are wonderful people. It’s been a great time staying here.

Very nice place in Oakland
This flat is very well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The building is safe and secure. The neighborhood is okay...I am accustomed to navigating in areas where there is a mix of people with varying levels of mental health. My daughter lives a block away and she has thrived in this neighborhood. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Oakland.

Cute loft - Neighborhood has lots of gems but is a little rough
The loft is cute and all the space a couple needs for a stay. The neighborhood was pretty rough looking on first glance. The Taco Bell next door is noisy throughout the night but not terrible. Even though the neighborhood is a bit rough, there are so many great spots within walking distance! We embraced the neighborhood and ended up having a really good time and walked everywhere we needed to.

This is a difficult review . While there were good things about this property, there were things that made it not so good. First, and worst, is that our rental car was broken into on the street in front of the building.
The bed was comfortable, and as in other reviews, there were lots of nice clean linens, but the shower was terrible. The loft was dark and there were several light bulbs that needed to be replaced. And although there were lots of windows most of them were in odd locations and not very clean, so they didn’t do much for light during the day.
There were good restaurants in walking distance so the location was convenient for this, but the surroundings directly around the building that the loft was in weren’t comfortable at all.
We did enjoy our stay, but it could have been a lot better

Comortable, cozy good location for exploring Oakland or travel to SF
The apartment is comfortable, spacious for a studio,. well furnished, plenty of clean towels and linens, comfortable bed. During the chilly damp week of my stay the heater kept the apartment warm to suit my preference.
Walk to BART is about 10 minutes, with good options for diners bars and clubs along the way. The location is reasonably quiet except for some noise around the neighboring fast food drive-thru.
Would certainly recommend to anyone wanting to visit this Oakland neighborhood, or for a reasonable base for travel to San Francisco (this was my purpose).

Oakland can be a lot of fun, but use caution!
Everything about this property was great except that it neighbours a slightly less welcoming area of town. Our car had two windows smashed in while parked on the street out front of the unit. We aren't silly enough to leave anything of value in the car, but we still had to deal with getting the windows repaired on our trip. Now that being said, we had a lot of fun in the neighbourhood (hence the 3 stars, and not one!). We had actually planned to go to San Fran, but say in Oakland to save some money and found so many good bars/ restaurants within walking distance of the unit that we never left!

Great location for a few days in San Francisco
The apartment was ideal for the two of us. Had everything we needed with plenty of space.
We arrived quickly and cheaply from SFO using the BART airport app. Then we bought Clipper cards to see us through the quick journey into SF each day. Busy with commuters but it saved $$ on expensive hotels. The apartment was a 10min walk away from Bart station. Nice safe area with coffee shops and bars. Whole foods a few minutes away. Sometimes a little noisy with delivery trucks in the early hours but not a real issue.
We would happily stay here again. Comfy bed. Good hot shower. Well equipped.

Good "bang for your budget" accommodations
My stay was for 5 days. Only needed a place to sleep for we toured all day. The loft was updated but the building, location, and neighborhood were suspect. There's NOTHING historic about the neighborhood. If you are easily intimidated by uncomfortable surroundings, this is not for you.
The loft itself was very neat and clean. There is a ROKU TV and if you are not familiar with ROKU and want to watch TV, you will be disappointed. I asked for a HDMI cord and watch TV from my laptop. Management got me a chord immediately, which was very nice.
The location is excellent. We were right by th Bay Bridge and right by the highway to get you to Napa Valley. Overall a good experience.

Very well maintained and clean room
Sheila's place was exactly as described. Looked better in person than the ads, which shows that it was very nice.
Well stocked in terms of essentials (towels, toiletries, hangers etc). Very clean and instructions were very well done.
The only thing not perfect is that it is not far from the highway in terms of urbanness - sidewalks close by were dirty and there were homeless around. But this is expected from the downtown oakland location and wasn't an issue during my stay.

Short Stay
This apartment was perfect for what we were looking for. It had everything we needed for our short stay. The neighborhood is abundant with homeless people but they were all very nice when we were out and about. There were lots of places around to eat at. We didn’t rent a car since it was such a short stay, we just took an Uber everywhere. It was close to everywhere in Oakland and close enough that we spent one day in San Francisco. I would recommend staying here!

Great option for visiting San Francisco and the Bay area
The apartment itself was very well equipped with everything that we needed, including all bathroom necessities like shampoo/shower gel etc which was very handy. Very simple to cook some meals too in the kitchen on a couple of occasions. The air conditioner was very useful too. The location was good, both to park on the adjacent streets, and to take a short walk (5 mins) for the BART to reach SF across the Bay. Handy also to not carry around keys and rely on the two access codes to lock and unlock the doors. Wifi very good too. Very good value, and made things much easier to have a very good week in the area.

Stay in Oakland.
The property was easy to find. When we arrived the instructions to get in were accurate. Apartment was very clean, tidy and surprisingly spacious. Bigger than it looked on the advert. Everything we needed was within a few blocks of where we stayed. Watch out for parking especially on the first Friday of every month. Forget about parking around the apartment on that Friday as the streets are all closed off for a street party on the main road outside. The nearest BART was 19th street and was a few blocks walk. It was ideal for what we needed and would stay there again.

Don’t judge a book by its cover
The building itself my not look very appealing from the outside, but the appartment was very nice!
A clean and spacious loft in an area from which San Fransisco centre is quite close. We loved the space and it was close to some nice bars and restaurants.

Loft itself is good and comfy but entrance (street) is fetid and lots of homeless
Refer to the short title and be aware there is no parking lot included, just available and paid, for me it wasn't clearly described

The apartment was very cute, clean, and comfortable.

Very comfortable, close to public transportation to San Francisco
The loft was excellent. Everything you needed was there. One caution: the neighborhood is in the process of gentrifying and is still a little bit rough, so be careful when you step out at night. Also, be sure to use public transportation if you plan to go to San Francisco.
Driving there on the bridge is a traffic nightmare.
BART is cheap and very efficient.

Wonderful Place to Stay
The property was very clean, modern, and it had everything we needed! We did not spend a lot of time there due to exploring Oakland and San Francisco, but the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, and I loved the bathroom heater and the window unit with a constant fan setting for sleeping . Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We throughly enjoyed our stay and felt that the loft was a great deal. It sits on the fringes of Oakland's renovation so its a short walk to upgraded stuff but also a short walk to the edgy areas which includes a cinema you should visit (The New Parkway), cool cafes and even a climbing gym. The loft itself has all you will need spread across an open floor plan. It is true that the Taco Bell drive-in laces its way past the bedroom window but you'll need to open your windows and ask people to shout to get wind of their orders! Parking is do-able in the street outside but competitive (and don't leave stuff in your car - it is an edgy neighbourhood after all).

The Artist Loft is a welcoming retreat in the heart of Uptown Oakland. It is clean, comfortable, and quiet with all the amenities and comforts you could wish for. The instructions by the owner were perfectly thorough and helpful. It is one block from the intersection of Grand and Telegraph Avenue - a perfect location filled with restaurants, delicatessans, brunch spots and only a few blocks from the BART station and from lovely Lake Merritt where you can stroll or jog on a well-kept path. Lake Merritt offers picnic spots as well as many other outdoor options. It's a perfect Loft and we hope to return again next time we are in Oakland. Five stars!!!

The loft is just as depicted in the pictures. Very comfortable and quite. Shelia is responsive and easy to access. There is a note book in the loft with helpful information.

This appartment is very well placed, with different ways to communicate with San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, etc. the kitchen is very well equipped with all that is necessary to cook and is new and confortable with a table to sit. The bathroom is also new with very nice decoration. There is plenty of room in the whole place to be very comfortable up to 4 persons. I want to highlight that the appartment is very clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed very much our stay there and would certainly go back.

We enjoyed very much staying in Sheila's apartment during our recent stay in Oakland. Although it is an efficiency, it is very spacious and offers some privacy if that is needed. The exposed brick walls and old wood floors contrast nicely with the contemporary furnishings, fixtures, and lighting. The kitchen is very nice with granite countertops, modern appliances, and all the accessories any cook would want. Overall, the apartment was very clean, easy to access, and provided all the amenities we needed. The location is convenient to the BART and to Lake Merritt; it was a good base to explore Oakland and the entire bay area.

The apartment had everything we needed and more. The bed was very comfortable. Neighborhood was quiet. We were very close, able to walk to many fun places. Close to a bus stop.
4.0
Very well maintained property which represented good value. Only small complaint was that the sofa bed needs replacing as springs were falling off.
4.0
The apartment is very good furnished and everything we needed was available. It is perfect for 2 persons. There is a metro/BART 5 minutes to walk and the best organic supermarket 8 minutes away. First we also had the impression that it is not the safest area but at least nothing happened!! Maybe as a girl you should walk home alone after 9 pm! The whole house is quiet and totally safe. Yes, there is a Taco Bell but it is not loud, especially when you fall asleep very quickly after a whole day in SF.

This was a little gem . Very clean, comfortable and convenient. I will certainly return when I am in the area.

The loft was very good and suited my needs for business in SFO. The loft had everything I needed, it was clean and very well kept. It was easy to get the BART to SFO also.
1.0
Upon arrival everything seemed in order and true to the pictures and description. However it was summer and quite warm so we tried to sleep with the windows open. This definitely was a mistake as right below the bedroom windows is a Taco Bell and you could hear the constant stream of drive thru patrons into the wee hours of the morning. Our first morning we noticed ants in the bathroom, on the floor, walls and shower curtain. The ants got progressively worse and even were on our belongings on the dresser when we were packing up to leave. We could barely bring ourselves to use a water glass because of this problem and ended up throwing any of our personal items that were exposed in Garbage bags and clearing out asap on check out day. Another item to mention is the cold water. Any time you turned on the cold water into the bathroom the pipes would start shuddering and water would spurt out the faucet at you. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay this is it but don't expect an easy nights sleep or cleanliness.

We enjoyed our stay in this nice loft, everything was clean and organized very well, and it was easy to go to San Francisco by BART. Thank you!
