Lovely house in great location

This quirky and cozy cabin's highlight is its location inside the park, giving access to the Going to the Sun road without a vehicle reservation, and allowing you to start your day in the park without wading through the vehicle entrance lines. Our family enjoyed playing games at the dining table and walking to the ice cream shop window steps away. Do not miss the Nature Center and afternoon ranger talks just a two minute walk away. Overall, the price is very high for the dated, quirky interior and low quality linens and mattresses, but it was all perfectly fine and we were happy with the location, cleanliness and spaciousness of this property.

We had a great stay in Apgar House! The house is in a wonderful location. It’s a VERY short walk to Eddie’s, gift shops, Glacier Outfitters, the nature center, and most importantly Lake McDonald! We loved the convenience of walking down to the lake to enjoy the water and views after a day of hiking. The house is comfortable and clean. The stairs going into the property need to be taken with care, but other than that, the property is great. The manager at Eddie’s was awesome with any questions or needs we had. We would stay again.

couple small repairs needed, light switches a puzzle, but can't beat the location or the folks at Eddie's who manage the place

Located right in Apgar Village. Walking distance to the water, shops, food and ice cream!

The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The house is not right on the lake but is in walking distance to it. It is also in walking distance to stores and a restaurant. We enjoyed our stay and Glacier is amazing.

Overall not a bad place to stay. Communication with the owner was great. Beds need new bedding as the sheets were clean but extremely worn. Only had 1 large bath towel for 2 bathrooms and 8 people. Wasn’t until the evening before we left that we found the remaining towels still in the dryer. Just could use a few updates. Other than that our stay here was good.

Everything was perfect. Property staff was amazing. Perfect location.

This was a great stay, perfect location and we had plenty of room for family of 10.

You are renting a house in a parking lot behind a business. At this time. there is active construction. So your view is of a construction dumpster and a storage shed. There is no view of the lake. Every window you look out of is storage for the business- not forest or lake. You see canoes and a freezer and workers milling around. (workers were polite) The in-the-park location is great, you are near the lake and there is tons of space inside the house. But the property lacks basics like a hair dryer- working ceiling fans in all rooms and even lightbulbs. Strongly advise you ask for UPDATED wide shots of the property so you are aware of what you are truly renting. It's not a well-maintained property. This feels like an afterthought. And for what you pay- you might be disappointed.

We had a memorable stay in Glacier and at Apgar house. We usually cooked there, but also enjoyed Eddie's restaurant next door for a couple of excellent breakfasts.

Physically finding this property was the most frustrating part of our stay! We had to ask at several places and luckily found the property manager by accident!
I suggest you use the actual address of the house.
The picture of the porch is deceiving, it must be a few years old.
The house met our needs for the short time we were there.

The location was wonderful. We appreciated having our own parking. Our family of 6 had plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils. We would stay again

Lots of space for everyone to spread out. But, why is this "Agpar" House when it is in Apgar ? We did not know the address in advance & we wanted to Google the location. It is VERY close to lots of shops... short walk to the lake (for swimming and boating). Since it is located IN the Park, it made entry into the park and trails etc very easy.
SUGGESTION: Leave one of the maps from Eddies on the dining room table

We had a great experience at the Apgar house! Location was fantastic - 30 second walk to the lake with rock beach and public dock for jumping, next door to Eddie's Ice Cream and mercantile and restaurant. Bonus: you get a designated parking spot with room for up to 2 cars. This really comes in handy when the park is crowded. If you want to stay in the park, Apgar is an amazing option. Quiet at night despite being right in Apgar village. I emailed two days before our visit to find out the check in process because I was worried about service while camping. Anyone at Eddie's mercantile can help you check-in or if you need anything, which is great because they are staffed 7-10. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and super helpful. Wifi worked well with just a few devices using it at a time. That's rare to find in a national park like Glacier where normally you have absolutely no service. Two bedrooms on the main floor (queen and a room with two bunks). Second floor has a main bedroom with bathroom and then a queen bed in the loft area. Plenty of space. We spent most of our time in the park and enjoyed the convenience of Apgar's location for quick changes when we were ready to switch activities or short breaks when we needed a rest but didn't want to leave the park. Overall, great experience!

There was a weird onslaught of negative reviews and quite frankly, I don’t agree. The stairs are metal but perfectly safe and stable. We let our kids ages 2-12 walk up them freely. it was left very clean for us too. The dryer worked fine 😂
It was fabulous for our group! Worked great. It’s definitely as advertised. I
Now my suggestions for improvement would ge some new pillows and bedding, especially the pillows. They’ve definitely seen better days. Also, as mentioned before there are only two rolls of toilet paper total. As a former Vrbo owner, I Found that odd. There is a store within like 5 steps where you can buy a toilet paper.

The house was great! It was very clean and comfy. The location in the park was excellent. We could not get a pass for Going-to-the-Sun road, but had access through staying here. We saw many cars that had to wait until after the ranger station closed to get access to this main road, but we had access all day. When we were there that road was still not open all the way for the season, but that actually was kind of nice, because we could hike or bike on the road. I had read reviews about how busy Apgar Village is. When we were there in early July the village was busy, but the house was a quiet retreat from that. The rental is on the second and third floors of a house, with an outside separate entrance. A manager of a nearby site lived on the first floor, and was quiet. One hint - to get into the house the first time, you must arrive before the restaurant next door closes, which was 9 the night we arrived. We had a flight delay and barely made it. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Great place. Went with my dad and my son. Plenty of room for many more. Fantastic to be inside the park and able to walk to everything. Used it as a launching point for a lot of hikes and ice cream cones. Don't be intimidated by the few preceding negative reviews, we really had nothing to complain about. They left some laundry in the dryer. Quelle horreur!
Nice that they give you soap, lotion, shampoo. The house was extremely clean and well outfitted in terms of toilet paper, paper towels etc.
Plenty cool enough at night to sleep with windows open. We were there in early July. You are right next to the housing for the employees, they are usually talking until 10-11 or so. Not loudly. If you are a really light sleeper can put on some white noise. Incidentally, they all were very friendly and fun to talk to.
WiFi worked well for general internet use. Watched a bit of DirectTV in our downtime.
You're paying a premium for the number of beds and the location, not for a suite at the Four Seasons. As long as the former is what you are looking for you will find it to be an awesome place.
I think the prior manager moved on, as such the email didn't work. They mentioned calling to set up a tour. Tried a couple times with no answer. Fine by us, we don't need a lot of hand holding and all the info you need is in the blue binder.

Great location. There were several issues with this property. 1) Two rolls of toilet paper for the entire house, one partially used 2) 1 roll of paper towels, 3) floors were dirty, 4) spare towels and bedding were damp yet folded in the closet, 5) the dryer takes 3 cycles to dry the clothing, and 6) the dumpster designated for your trash was full and there's no other place to stow your trash. I brought this forth to management, and I was given a $ pittance refund relative to nightly fee, but after traveling 1500 miles and spending a large nightly amount, I didn't expect to be spending ANY of our time doing what should have been done by the management.
On the flip side, the park is amazing.

You are not near Lake McDonald. Owner never contacted me about address or location. Complete false advertisement. Horrible stairs that not safe for anyone. Listing never states you had to go up rusty metal falling apart stairs. Stairs leading to upstairs bedroom has no railing and no lighting. Upon arrival, property manager was no where to be located. Dishes were dirty in dishwasher, wifi didnt work, owner never connected me in regards to any of these items. Not all windows open so cooling the house off was difficult, thermostats on wall are outdated and unable to read what temp it was set at. For spending the amount of money I did for 2 nights I expected more. I will not be staying here again.

Nothing beats staying inside Glacier, and this house is nicely located in Apgar. While the house was adequate in every way and out stay was acceptable, we had a number of issues with the rental.
First, we never heard from the manager about check-in times and procedures; we had to call at the last minute. Second, the renters' handbook left for us didn't include important information on check-out procedures such as time and our responsibility.
Second, the property was only superficially cleaned. Dust was everywhere, and floors were minimally cleaned. Luckily, the beds and showers were the most well cared for parts.
Third, the property description on VRBO can be a little deceiving. No where does it mention that the main entrance is up a flight of metal steps which can be slippery when wet and which require lugging bags and supplies precariously (the "main" floor of the house is actually the second floor of the building). Second, the main floor has one queen bed, not the two listed in the description. (The second queen bed is actually in the loft overlooking the living room, a location which affords no privacy for anyone). The upstairs master is up a narrow, dark stairway which has no handholds. The fireplace which features prominently in the photos has a "do not use" sign on it, so don't expect that option. The satellite tv reception was spotty, and the tv is located in such a way that it's impossible to plug in a tablet or computer in order to view saved programs.
All in all, our stay was acceptable but certainly not exceptional. The location makes up for a lot of our misgivings, and we would consider staying here again in the future, but we would consider other options first.

Property was conveniently located to all the west end hiking trails on our list.

Overall impression of the Apgar House is outstanding. The location is perfect to explore Glacier National Park. The House is well designed, well appointed and equipped, and worked perfectly for our family of six.
One recommendation is to add a handrail to the stairs to the upstairs bedroom. This is a steep staircase, and is precarious (and very dangerous) without a railing. Another much less significant recommendation is to review the lights in the living room. The room is poorly lit for reading.
A great pick for a family vacation. We look forward to returning in the future.

Overall excellent. Minor problems, no propane in gas grill, sliding door did not lock well.

my family of six had a fantastic time in glacier and the house at Apgar was great, convenient , clean and everyone really enjoyed themselves and were able to do their own thing once back at the house the provided Wi-Fi was also great to get connected again once back for the night would definitely recommend

Great place to be for our first time at Glacier. Walking distance to Lake McDonald, and ice cream for the kids! So easy being in the park for our super early mornings.

We loved our stay at Apgar house and the location couldn’t have been better. We went fly fishing with a 3rd party outfitter right outside the west glacier entrance, watched the sunrise at Lake Macdonald, rented a motorboat for $30 at LM, hiked Hidden Lake Overlook at dusk to see the mountains light up and looked at the stars pop out all over the sky at night. Overall, we had a great stay!

This is a wonderful place to stay in Glacier National Park. If you are not familiar with the National Park System then you need to know that these parks are overcrowded and any habitations in the parks are exceptionally crowded. Lots of people crammed onto a postage stamp. Glacier is not a remote wilderness area. It is near some.
This is a house where you can expect an endless parade of people on the street. Everyone is happy and outgoing. Get ready to embrace it. This is a National Park.
There is zero chance that you can actually stay in Glacier National Park itself and do better than this place. Plus, once it gets dark and the daytrippers leave Apgar then you do have it to yourself. This reminds me of Nantucket where there are lots of people but the vibe is laid back. Also, you never have to cook. Eddies restaurant is very close. Plus kayak and bike rentals are a short walk.
The house itself has a king in a bedroom upstairs with ensuite bath with shower. The loft in front of it has a king bed. This is pretty private from the living room below. The downstairs has a bedroom with a queen and another bedroom with two sets of bunks. There is a full bath in the hall. The kitchen is nice. The living room has a tv with directTV. There is a nice deck out front. There is ADSL internet wifi. VERY SLOW. There are some places in town where you can get three bars of LTE but it still seems SLOW.

Great property for 8-10 people. Excellent location for West Glacier area. Apgar village is awesome. Eddies next door has great food options and there are shops nearby.

A cross between a Swiss Chalet and Hunting Cabin, Apgar House has it all- short walk to Lake McDonald (paddle boards/kayaks at house), situated in the quaint Apgar Village, great proximity to everything on the west side of the park including West Glacier, well stocked kitchen & easy access to the Going to the Sun road. Donnie was extremely helpful! We didn’t want to leave!

Apgar House provided great accommodations for our extended family and perfect access to beautiful Glacier Park.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Apgar House. Donnie was incredible and so helpful and generous during our stay there. The location cannot be beat, and although there was no AC during some of the hottest recorded temps for the area, we were provided fans that did the trick to make sleeping comfortable! Plenty of room, comfortable beds, soft sheets, and a welcoming feel was all we needed during our stay! Thank you Donnie, for everything!

Apgar House provided us with the perfect home base for exploring Glacier National Park. We loved relaxing on the deck or taking our morning coffee out to the beach! Donnie readily answered all of our questions and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful time. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake and ice cream in the evenings. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

We really enjoyed our stay. This property is not on Lake McDonald but it’s only a few hundred yards away and it’s centrally located close to shops, ranger stations, and trail heads in West Glacier!
