Paddleboard, kayak, dive off the dock, sit by the fire
About this cottage rental
Right on Highland Lake beautiful spot, sandy beach, great house but close to town. This house was built in 1930 as a hunting lodge/camp but has been updated. The kitchen has enough space to feed an army, big trestle table, beautiful field stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the living room. fire pit outside, great, dock, nice sand, 2 kayaks and a paddleboard for your use Local Attractions: Drive-in movies; Rafting down the Saco, wonderful downtown Bridgton a five min walk The best thing about this beautiful house hands down is you feel very private but in 5 minutes you can walk to town and get an ice cream. It really is an ideal spot on an ideal lake. The lake is quiet but big enough to explore for hours.

The location was wonderful..but it seriously needs property management. Pam was delightful as a host, communicating often and clearly.

We enjoyed our stay at the lake house; various age groups in our party and all agreed we would happily stay again! Downstairs bedroom with bath attached perfect for the grandparents. Teens and mom enjoyed upstairs living, each teen able to share a room with their invited friend. Plenty of parking and super close to downtown with lots to do. Public beach, pizza, movies and ice cream all a quick walk away. Paddle board very nice, and two kayaks for use…all paddles and pfd’s included. Dock could use some upkeep but believe owner is working on that. I would suggest a ladder for older folks to get out dockside with ease. Plenty of room inside for the big family to gather, never felt crowded at all. It is an older place and more rustic than fancy, but that has always been our family experience and pleasure. Well stocked, and washer and dryer and dishwasher were much appreciated amenities for our family needs! Would go back 100 percent and think most people would really find it relaxing without being boring! Pam was easy to communicate with and very responsive.

The property is exactly what you would expect of a 100+ yr old camp/lake house. It was exactly what we were looking for. Kitchen was well equipped and plenty of bedding & bath linens. We thoroughly enjoyed our time. Thank you Pam for allowing us to enjoy your home.

Great location (walk to Bridgeton), great water access with sandy area and dock, lots of bedrooms for everyone, lots of fun floaty toys, very well equipped kitchen -- what more could you ask for?

The good news: We loved our stay at the lake. Pam was an incredibly gracious, helpful host. The living space in the house is comfortable and clean and obviously well-loved by the owners. The kitchen has everything you need. Some of the appliances could use replacing though all worked. The lake is fantastic.
The honest (not quite as good) news: The beds are old and you could feel the springs in all the mattresses. The grounds are not well kept. The dock is rickety with little space to sit and enjoy the sun or sunset. There is surprisingly very little outdoor space to hang out, no patio, no porch. There is a (not well maintained) dirt path leading down to the lake cut through the overgrown yard (almost looks like a washed out stream bed). The property has so much potential but the grounds are not kept in a condition I would have expected for the price. If I had understood this in advance, we may not have rented the house.

Another great visit to Shorey Grove!
Another great visit to Bridgton. Everyone had a wonderful time! As before, booking was easy and Pam was great to work with. The House is perfect for kids and the lake is nice and shallow near the dock for little ones! It is walking distance to shops, parks, and most importantly ice cream! The grocery store is less than two miles away as is the local hospital and animal hospital. We will be back again next year. Thanks for a great vacation!

We have stayed here a couple of times now and it is a lovely house. Plenty of space for a group, walk to town in five minutes and the lake is right there. We stayed in winter and it took us less than 10 minutes to get to Shawnee peak to ski. The kids love this house. It's not shiny or new but it's a lovely rustic home which is perfect for all seasons. The price is very fair for so much space. We will be back!

My husband and I came up mid-week on the recommendation of a friend and it was a lovely weekend where we went paddling, walking in nearby Pondicherry Park, we swam, and hiked up Jockey Cap which provides beautiful views of the white mountains of New Hampshire and the lakes of Maine.

call me dissapointed- not what was promised
I have had rented many great places on home away and VRBO in the past. Unfortunately this was not one.
We recently rented this property from Pam Fullerton. The lakeside setting was nice but the property was somewhat disappointing. During our stay we encountered too many examples of owner inattention. The place needs some upkeep what was billed as a quintessential lake house was really a large cabin.
Over the ensuing days we found The stove filthy with caked grease and food.the freezer had food caked in it. Many pans were greasy. dog hair was apparent in floor vents and was everywhere. We actually found dirty underwear and socks in bedding! Yuck.
On every day we seemed to be surprised with something else. One night we were awakened by some squirrels scattering around and nesting in blankets beside the big hole in the closet. At 4:30 am we were on the hunt with a net! The owner seemed unfazed and minimized our concerns.defensive is my best description of her.
The note on the refrigerator says the boathouse should not be used, though it is advertised as "for your use to tuck a boat in". A local builder said it should be condemned.
Admittedly I did not call the owner initially as some of the issues were not apparent until we started cooking or using bedding. I did email her and heard nothing for 2 days- possibly a wireless glitch but after the squirrel incident I called . The owner was defensive and said it was all my fault for not calling sooner- she kept saying I called on the 6th day . I assure you it was before that. She agreed to return a portion of the amount paid for cleaning and now has reneged on her agreement.
Though there were good times I would NOT recommend it. It is not as advertised , The property manager agreed that there are issues with owner and property.
Perhaps the place was a great place in years past but it needs a bit of love and the owner needs a lesson in being a responsive property owner.

cozy family home
I just want to first say thank you to Pam for sharing your wonderful home with us. What a blessing that vacation was to us and family. You have a great home. The view is amazing. The kids fished off the dock in front of the house everyday for hours. The kayaks were a big plus too! I loved that I could walk to all the antique shops and grab a smoothie at the new place down the street. We did not want to leave. I would recommend this to everyone. Thanks again and enjoy your summer. Rob and Jane Willwerth of Saugus MA

Great space for family reunion
All 11 of us really enjoyed this Maine home. Bridgton is such a terrific town and we have vacationed here for many years. Lots of space for all of us with plenty of room to be alone, too. Pam was very helpful with any issues that arrived...there weren't very many!! The lake was wonderful and we were able to truly enjoy family time. The place could use some updating but for a Maine "cabin" it was very good. The place was clean and well maintained. The listing description was accurate.

Quite a lovely property!
This property fit our needs perfectly! My family does an annual trip with between 8-12 people, and we slept, ate, and relaxed comfortably in this lake house! The kayaks were perfect for a mid morning exercise, and the whole home was wonderful. Highly recommended!

Great place
This was a beautiful spot at the end of the lake. The dock was perfect for the dog to jump off. The sandy beach made it easy to get into and out of the water.
The place is very spacious with lots of beds, as described. There are lots of boats and water toys to keep you entertained when you're not enjoying the spectacular sunsets or the firepit.
Pam was wonderful to work with, and made the transaction very easy. Thanks for helping to make a great memory.

Clean, wonderful, awesome overall!
It was a beautiful lakefront property, with an amazing firepit, and a huge space to stay with family. 8 adults were comfortably accommodated, and overall I couldn't suggest it more! AWESOME!

Fantastic home base for an magnificent weekend.
I think the best way I can summarize this property is that the morning before we left, I sent an email to Pam to let her know that we'd like to come back in the spring. The house was everything we hoped it would be. Set away from the road, with its backyard overlooking Highland Lake and the property's private dock, the house felt like it was completely isolated, but was within walking distance of downtown Bridgton. The location was just about perfect and our weekend away was just perfect. Looking forward to heading back!

We love this Lake-house Gem
We have stayed at this lovingly maintained Maine Cottage during all seasons. The immediate lake access allows for fantastic summer swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding or simply enjoying the natural beauty. In the winter the lake can be a virtual skating rink, while many of the best ski mountains are within a short distance. Hiking trails are all around.
The central field stone fireplace and the lakeside fire pit add that warm touch that allows for s’mores and fireside chats. This home is unique, as the adequate space and spacious layout is ideal for our extended family and friends, but as easily could be a retreat getaway for a group of people on a getaway or colleagues on a business retreat. Two spacious bathrooms, a huge farmhouse dining area with large lake facing windows and French doors leading to the living room give it a rustic chalet feel, yet comfort with style in modern and elegantly casual surroundings.
The quick walk to downtown Bridgeton, a quintessential NE town, allows for fine dining, quick takeout or must visit to Reny’s for a one stop old world department store experience.
This is a the place to come annually, any time of year, unpack and feel immediately at home. Or if you have never been to Maine or Bridgeton, we would recommend both for a true Maine experience.
