Convenient to stores and restaurants and safe walking neighborhood. Comfortable accommodation but in the room with double bed and air conditioning the window was cracked letting in cold air. But very comfortable bed to sleep.
Ants in bathroom, should have a Keurig and pods to start. Had to keep the bedroom door open for warmth.
The host was available if needed. Again for our 3 night stay it was ok

We had such a lovely stay in this charming home! Andreas was so accommodating and communicated exceptionally quick. The neighborhood was very quiet and walk-able. It was so close to the Berkeley campus that our son was able to walk from campus to the house to greet us. The home was very clean and had all of the items we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. Andreas set us up with deliciously filtered water and sent some great tips before we arrived. The beds were very comfortable and there were cozy blankets around the house to snuggle up with while watching family movies after a Thanksgiving meal. Parking was surprisingly easy and right in front of the house on the street. We didn't park in the driveway area while visiting, just on the street since it was so accessible.

The property met all our needs for size and location.

My niece is looking to relocate to Berkeley from the East Coast and we wanted to stay somewhere that would provide a good sample experience for a few days. This house and location were the perfect solution. The living area was very clean, with minimalist decor, and all available tech (eg free, wireless, streaming tv, and even an Apple Computer to use). The kitchen is a bit outdated, and the yard needs work, but nothing we didn’t expect based on the accurate listing. The owner, Andrea, was very pleasant, and more than accommodating, when we wanted to arrive a day earlier than our scheduled reservation. One small suggestion would be to provide three prong adapters for the plugs in the bedrooms - or just install upgraded outlets so computers can be plugged in easily. Other than that this was the perfect property and location to provide a feel for what it might be like to live in Berkeley.

The property met our expectations. There were lots of extra linens and towels. The owner is currently working on the back yard, so it's a bit cluttered, but there is a table with some chairs that are usable.
The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. The property is easily walkable from the North Berkeley BART station, and there are many restaurants nearby.
We had some communication with the host prior to our arrival, and he was exceptionally helpful and curteous - well beyond our expectations.

This lovely home was in a quiet neighborhood but centrally located. Very distinctive in layout and architecture. Within walking distance to many things. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals and the rooms were comfortable. Dog park close by (or playground if you have littles). We will definitely be back.

Overall nice. Negatives: things like coffee maker but no coffee; few electrical outlets and lots of electronics and LEDs so lots of power cords; VERY cheap toilet paper (bought some better). Positives: helpful, responsive owner; quiet neighborhood in the vicinity of the Berkeley Marina and close to good restaurants and shopping.

What a great property and an excellent location! A short walk to the BART and a fantastic patio area for those few nights we wanted to stay in. Ordered groceries through PrimeNow and saved a few bucks by having breakfast in the quaint dining area.

The location of this cottage provides restful nights for a parent visiting her UC Berkeley student who lives in a noisy campus environment. Historic charm with IKEA comfort. The Mexican bakery around the corner on San Pedro is a unique experience. Andreas is helpful.

Our family is relatively new to VRBO. We have used Vacasa, and have stayed at VRBO rentals 4 times with other families as the lead renter. The location of this home is great and the price is fine. That being said, we would not stay here again and these are the reasons why:
- four dishes or pans that I pulled from the cupboards had dried food on them. Yuck!
- the sheets on one of the twin beds had stains on them. Gross!
-The ceiling in the bathroom has brown grease spots from condensation, which are easily cleaned if someone was paying attention to detail. Really gross to look at when one is showering to get clean!
-the window locks are super sketchy and old; two barely work. While the neighborhood is technically safe (it is Berkeley; we lived there for 3 years), it really disconcerting when you open the blinds and can lift the windows straight up. They were not even latched when we arrived. Very sloppy!
- when the heater turns off it makes a pinging noise for almost 15 minutes. Not a problem if one is leaving for the day but if trying to fall asleep, really a annoying!
-Also, the description states that there is parking in the ‘shared driveway”. THis however is untrue. The neighbor very kindly let me know that they bought the house next door so the driveway is technically theirs. One must park on the street, which is fine, but she did share that she has asked the owner to change that in the description several times. Again, attention to detail.

very clean home near 4th st shops and restaurant close to freeway access to San Francisco and in one direction and wine country in the other direction. The home, like all in this nice area of Berkley, is small yet adequately sized except for the bathroom which is exceedingly small. The reason for the loss of two stars is because of the disregard shown for the furnishing of the home. Nothing matched, the tv in the living room instead of being mounted on wall above the fireplace, instead sits on an end table from the master bedroom, cables exposed. There is a cheap desk in what once was the dining room along with a lounger of some sort. It seems as if it was furnished with items from a garage sale. The other major complaint is also indicative of the little regard for the guests and that is the bathroom tissue which could not be of a cheaper variety, so thin it was completely translucent. I don't expect luxury in this price range but is Charmin too much to ask?

good but not great
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The majority of all aspects were good however the place could use some updating. The shower and the queen mattress show their age.

Comfortable home
This house is as it was described and shown in the photos. It is not fancy, but it was very clean, comfortable, and well-located. The host kindly let us check in early and urged us to get in touch if we had any problems, which thankfully we didn't.

A great place to stay!
One of my new favorite spaces! Great little cottage with lots of charm and located only about 3 walking blocks from the Bart. We stayed 5 nights and had plenty of space and privacy in this quiet little neighborhood! Close to Trader Joe’s too! Great central for us and the washer and dryer were a huge bonus. Owner easy to communicate with as well.

Humble and modest cottage in a great location
My father and my adult son and daughter spent Christmas day and three more days here. We were able to cook Christmas dinner in the small kitchen and after doing some feng shui reorganizing of the furniture, had a warm and cozy Christmas dinner in the main living space with candlelight. The home gets chilly and it would be nice to have more blankets. Also, I would have appreciated more toiletries in the bathroom and more trash bags in the kitchen. But we went for many pleasant walks and there are many community amenities nearby.

The house served our needs and was comfortable but needs work.
A few things that could improve the quality of the property:
A lightbulb in the overhead lighting in the living room, main room. Light was out.
There were ants in the kitchen and we did leave food out.
The heating was a bit tricky to get just right.
The shower was run down, easy fix.
Towels were clean and nice. Bedsheets and blankets good.
It's nice when there are some teas in the kitchen and a teapot which
was not the case. Minor detail.
TV volume could not be adjusted.
Few stations available.
Bed was small for a married couple in the main bedroom.

Great 2 bedroom. Nothing fancy but perfect for my family of four. Great location.

The house was great, we really enjoyed the neighborhood and the proximity to the Bart was super easy. I loved Monterey Market, it was a little bit of a walk but 100% worth it. The walk there is beautiful and peaceful and once you arrive there is a sweet little strip of food stores and the amazing market itself. We went nuts buying fresh food! I would definitely stay here again.
Thanks!!

First of all, being a Southerner all my life, I sleep with a FAN and we have Fans everywhere so when I got to this charming cottage, I asked the owner where the AC switch was! LOL, he told me that it is NOT common in Oakland. So I asked him if he has a portable FAN and he didn't. However, he fitted in his schedule and got us a FAN the very next day! This alone will always bring me back to this place whenever I am in Berkeley next! The place is clean and spacious and we have 3 adults although we could easily fit 2 more. The living room is very comfortable excellent for chilling out. The kitchen place is also very comfortable in size and it is away from the bedrooms so it is ideal for not disturbing others if you are an early riser. We walked to all the delicious local places our favorite is Luca ! There is a Trader Joe less than a mile away!! Location, Location, Location. Thank you Andreas for your hospitality and always checking on us to see if we are good. We will always have Berkeley!

This is a great rental that matches the descriptions and pictures perfectly. The neighborhood is nice, close to BART, very walkable, with plenty of parking, and a nice backyard. It's a little drafty in the winter - it's an older house - but the heater works great, so no problems there. It's a small kitchen, but it worked great for our needs. The washer/dryer had its own little bonus room and was wonderful to have. We loved the hardwood floors in the living area, and the living room is very cozy. Internet worked great, TV was a nice set-up, and there was a cute little writing desk. The bedroom doors had a little trouble closing, but nothing we had an issue with. And the most important matter - in my opinion - is that it was very clean. It was clear that the whole house had been cleaned thoroughly before we came, and there were plenty of towels and sheets and the like. One of the bedrooms has a very nice-sized closet too. Andreas was easy to work with, and always fast to respond. He returned our security deposit immediately, which I appreciated. I would definitely rent this place again.
