This six bedroom, six bath home overlooks the Caribbean Sea and it's mountains on the island of St. Martin, French West Indies in the Caribbean. Located in the Lowlands, an exclusive residential area of St. Martin, Villa Steel Magnolias is the former home of Oscar winning actress Olympia Dukakis. This beautiful villa has apx 2 acres of land that provides privacy, spaciousness and wonderful views of the island and the sparkling sea. We offer full housekeeping at no extra charge and a private cook available upon request for extra fee. The main entrance to the Villa is gated and private. The Villa is first class from room to room offering a large indoor living/dining area with TV and stereo system both indoors and around the pool area. A large modern kitchen with double fridge and stove are just a few of the features this villa offers. The bedrooms are furnished as follows. All of the bedrooms have pillow top king size beds and all bedroom have private bathroom with shower. Most of the bedrooms have double sinks bathrooms and they all have very large showers. Of the now SIX bedrooms two are Master Bedrooms of which one has a leather sofa sleeper. We also have the option of a 7th bedroom in a separate building if needed. So we have 5 bedrooms and 5 baths in the main Villa all with private baths and we have 6th large bedroom with leather sofa sleeper and large bath with separate shower and separate Jacuzzi tub! Our rates are for the ENITRE Villa with no hidden fees or service charges as many other Villas add. Staff is included..no extra charge! Steel Magnolia's was shared by my wife and I, and 3 other couples. There are 5 master bedrooms in the villa and 1 more in a separate efficiency suite next to the pool. (There is no possibility of a 7th bedroom alluded to in the detail.)
It is an older property but it's all very well kept. If you want luxury, this is not it. But it's got everything anyone could need including beach/pool towels, beach chairs and umbrellas.
The kitchen is smaller but more than adequate with dishwasher and 2 refrigerators. Just off the kitchen is a full size washer/dryer for guest use.
The living room has adequate seating and a big screen TV with satellite service.
Outside, there's covered seating for 6+ and plenty of loungers around the pool.
The beach on Baie Rouge is a 2-3 minute walk out the back gate. Beautiful to look at but it was a bit choppy during our stay. (I have no idea if that's typical or not.)
Note that there are stairs necessary to get into the villa and also to get down to the beach.
Communication with Mark (VRBO contact and, I believe, the owner) was terrific. Property manager Neville was awesome. He was there when we arrived to show us around, came by every day or two and was responsive on WhatsApp when we had questions.
Would I rent again - ABSOLUTELY.

This is a great house for a large family or multiple families. Perfect location for equal drives to every spot-Simpson Bay, Orient, Anse Marcel, etc. Very roomy, easily fit 14, maybe more with couches. Very nice pool area to hang out, great walk to an amazing beach. Loved the iguanas! Property is managed by an awesome guy-Neville. He was so helpful in many ways. Best VRBO experience I have had!

The Villa was spacious-lots of room/space for 10 people. The king beds & ensuites were great. There were resident iguanas! Neville & his staff responded quickly to our every need. We hired the chef (Jeanette) to prepare a special dinner-it was outstanding. We could see the airport, but not hear it. The beach was wonderful. And David’s hole is around the corner. Great sunrises.
You definitely need a rental car.
The pool was used by us every day, but the water clarity was poor. The kitchen is tight! There were bugs that we reported.
We loved St Martin & the Villa. Super family holiday.

Staying at Villa Steel Magnolias was an absolutely fantastic experience. The house had beauty, charm, and character. The property was massive and well maintained. All of us enjoyed watching the many iguanas that came by at all times of the day. The proximity to Baie Rouge was unbelievable and we were provided with chairs and umbrellas to enhance the beach experience.
The house was extremely comfortable and was large enough for all 15 (9 adults and 6 kids) of us. Each bedroom was beautifully decorated and had it’s own private bath and super comfortable king size bed. The common areas were equally as comfortable. The pool area, where we congregated most of the time, was great. Plenty of seating with chaises around the pool and the covered patio to shade from the afternoon sun or the passing rain shower.
Neville, the property manager, and his staff, were wonderful and very dedicated. Every other day he brought us bottled water to replenish the water cooler. He was readily available and addressed any issues that came up.
I can honestly say that Villa Steel Magnolias is one of my favorite vacation homes and I would highly recommend it.

We had such a wonderful time at Villa Steel Magnolias. The house was very clean, bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We spent a good deal of time at the pool or at the beautiful beach so close to the house.
Mark was very quick to respond to any questions we had during the booking and our stay.
Neville was SO incredibly helpful and kind. Anything we needed during our stay, he took care of.
We would absolutely stay here again. Close to markets, restaurants, and yet quiet and private. Great vacation!

We had an amazing week at Villa Steel Magnolias. The villa itself and the pool are wonderful and the location is great. The beach area that is a very short walk out the back door is beautiful and seemingly never crowded. Neville the property manager was excellent at anticipating our needs and making sure everything went smoothly. Five stars for everything! Can't wait to return!

Great time. Neville and the staff took care of the place and us. House was as advertised. Plenty of room for 12 of us. Beach steps from the house.
Good location, 15 minutes from the airport.
Only downside - toilets need the mechanisms changed as they were extremely slow in filling up between flushes.

The villa management was in contact with us early, and was very responsive to our every question, or need, before and during our stay.
Neville (aka Yellow) was wonderfully attentive and responsible throughout.
We had a wonderful time. The villa provided restful comfort, and an easy place from which to explore the island.

Our group of travel buddies stayed here in late February 2023 and it was fantastic. The home is a little older, but was well appointed and there was plenty of room for the 8 of us. Typically we would have 10, and this villa would have easily accommodated a few more people. The kitchen was setup well and all we really needed was to bring was our food and beverages. All the furnishings in the villa are nice quality and nothing feels cheap. There are 5 bedrooms in the main house, each themed off of one character from "Steel Magnolias", and one larger bedroom that is in a separate building overlooking the very large pool deck. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom/shower and they were clean and well appointed. The grounds were very well taken care of and the caretaker Neville was available to take care of any issues that might arise. We did have a couple of very minor things pop up (they are typical on St. Martin), but Neville got them resolved immediately. For music fans, the villa has a nice receiver that can play music both inside and outside in the pool area. One consideration though - if you plan to use your own source, suggest you bring old school "audio-in" cables because the system doesn't support bluetooth connectivity. A minor issue to be sure, but good luck finding audio cables on the island! The entire property is surrounded by a fairly high wall, and there is an electronic gate that allows access to both the "neighborhood" and property itself. They weren't kidding when they said the villa is "steps" from the beach - it really is. Once you walk out the gate, you're maybe ~150 steps from beach. Baie Rouge is a smaller, pretty quiet beach that doesn't have much in the way of amenities, but the villa has plenty of chairs/beach towels, etc. The surf here can be a little rough so those bringing little children should use caution. Not to fear however because there are tons of other beaches that are a very quick drive away. Renting a car (or 2) is definitely a good idea. The location makes it easy to get to Marigot, Grand Case or the Mullet / Maho area pretty easily. Overall, this property is exactly as described and our group wouldn't hesitate to book it again in the future.

A family trip to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday went flawlessly thanks to finding this incredible property and property mgmt team. Clear and timely email communication with Mark, the owner, from the start eased any worries I had about choosing this property and organizing the trip for my family of 9 adults and 3 kids (ranging in ages from 80yo to 3yo). The place is really clean and gorgeous inside and out plus it has the homey, cozy vibe that immediately makes you feel at home. The picturesque beach is a few steps out the back gate, the pool is splendid with incredible views and the Terres Basses location can't be beat (groceries, gas, downtown area is just down the road...5-10min to any essentials things you'd need). Neville, the property manager and the housekeeping team were awesome and available for whatever we needed. Truly unforgettable vacation. Cannot recommend this rental enough to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion with loved ones in a gorgeous location and be taken care of by knowledgable, friendly and very professional staff. The owner was unresponsive on critical issues. His listed phone number was wrong, and he didn't answer the phone from the very kind property caretaker. Issues included: no electricity for 2 1/2 days-no water- stove-AC-pool-washer-dryer. Owner wanted to blame electric company but no other properties in the area were out of electricity. His best excuse was to insult the family saying we don't understand island life. The property caretake was the highlight of the trip. His tireless work to help us through 2 1/2 days of no electricity was commendable. Be warned.

We had a terrific time at the villa with 16 people- adult and teenagers. There was plenty of space for us. The pool and outside area was our favorite. Great to be able to walk to the beach!

Great location on the French side. I've stayed in several villas on St. Martin and this is the best one yet. Mark is readily accessible and responsive and the staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Don't hesitate to book this place. It's everything as described and more.

This house sits in the perfect spot. Right next to Baie Rouge and not too far from anything. (Except Oyster pond.)
So much space, but the best is the outdoor space. There's a fabulous pool with an outdoor living room and dining room.

We had a group of 16 staying at the property. We found the location to be ideal on the island. Neville (Yellow) our main contact at the house was fantastic on helping us with activities and info. The house has great access to Baie Rouge and we felt more than comfortable on letting our group of 14yr old girls venture there together. The proximity to Marigot & Cupecoy area was ideal. The house is an older house with character, but benefits of a covered patio area, pool and location out-wayed any issues. We used all seven bedrooms and worked perfect for our group of 14yr olds and 16 yr olds to have their own separate units. We had 5 families that stayed and all said they would return which says alot. BTY Mullet bay was by far our favorite beach. Food prices are so cheap as compared to St John/St Thomas - both in grocery stores and restaurants. We went to a small bakery (julie's) every morning for croissants by the university - there is a great sushi place next door(yami's) and Fat Tony's across the road was a great little stop also. There is a small market just down the road that has most everything and there is a more specialty market in Cupecoy that had more gluten free items that we do at our local store. We look forward to making another trip in the near future.

Is much nicer than the photos make it seem. Beautiful villa with a large pool, great views, and steps from the beach.
It can be confusing based on the listing to tell how many bedrooms there are. There are five bedrooms in the main house and then a large stand-alone master bedroom by the pool. The “optional” 7th bedroom mentioned in the listing isn’t ready yet.
The daily maid service is great and cleans the public areas of the villa. It’s for a few hours each morning. Keep that in mind though if anyone in your group is uncomfortable having strangers present in the villa or if you want complete privacy.
Note that this is in a residential area. There’s a restaurant or two that are within long walking distance, but I’d recommend having some type of transportation.
Overall it was a great stay! The property manager was easy to talk to and we had an amazing time.

Wonderful pool. Close to the beach. Good spaces to gather. Wonderful views. Our group could have used the 7th bedroom which we expected but was not available. Lovely home but might need some TLC. That said, we were comfortable and had a marvelous time. The staff was friendly and helpful.

When we arrived at the Steel Magnolia Villa I was surprised that it was actually nicer than the photos and descriptions online. This property has privacy and a fantastic and secure location right next to one of the best small beaches on the island - Baie Rouge. The beds were very comfortable, each room is named after a character from the Steel Magnolia’s movie. The Villa definitely had Caribbean character which is why I love VRBO! The pool area was thoroughly enjoyed by all and the views of Simpson Bay were awesome. We had no problems bopping around the entire island from the Villa. Neville was very helpful and we enjoyed talking with him! Thank you Mark for sharing your beautiful Villa with our family of 8.

Our group of 8 recently spent a wonderful week at Villa Steel Magnolias. The property was better than described and Mark and Nevil were great. The house was well equipped, clean and the perfect location. Our party had plenty of room to spread out with the option of both pool side and beach front without having to get in a car. We have rented several homes on the island before, but this was by far the most comfortable for a large party! Thanks!

We were a group of 10 ladies who travel together annually. We were a little apprehensive when we booked this property because of the lack of reviews available. Mark assured us that was because the property wasn't available for a long time post Irma, so we went ahead and booked. WOW!! We were beyond pleased with this property. It was fabulous from the time we drove through the gate until 2 weeks later when we left. Not one of us had a complaint at any time. The bedrooms are huge and beautifully decorated. Each bedroom has it's own beautiful ensuite bathroom. There isn't anything we wanted for.The kitchen is big enough for all 10 of us to cook, clean and gather in there without issue. There are 2 full fridges that came in very handy in holding food and drink for 10. There is a washer and dryer in the adjoining room off the kitchen that got lots of use and worked perfectly. The kitchen is well appointed with plenty of pots, pans, dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils. There was a drip coffee maker, a keurig and a kettle. There wasn't anything we wished had been there but wasn't. The living room and dining room were beautiful. The air-conditioning was completely adequate in keeping us cool. Each room had their own controls. Some remotes were missing but we just passed the remotes around and all was good.The outdoor living space was very well used with a perfect amount of seating for 10. We spent a lot of time gathered out there very comfortably. The pool is gorgeous and the seating/lounges around the pool for sunbathing were very comfortable and in great shape. Everything looked brand new!We honestly cannot say enough about this property. We all wanted to stay forever! We did have a couple of very small issues that were looked after immediately after talking to Neville about them. Neville is SUCH a nice guy and obviously cares about this property and the owners. He spoke so highly of them. He did whatever he could to make our stay a great one, and definitely went above and beyond. He's a definite asset to the property. I'm sure I left some things out, but rest assured they were great too. We had zero complaints! Great Job Mark, Brian and Neville!! We will be back!
