About this cabin rental
Located in Colorado, this charming cabin for $230 per night is a great choice for your next break. We invite you to enjoy the inspiring space of our modest, two bedroom mountain cabin nestled in the Rocky Mountains. The cabin is a short scenic drive west of Boulder, Colorado and only two miles from the quaint and colorful mountain town of Nederland, CO. Built in the early 1900's, our house was the baggage depot which serviced the historic, Switzerland Trail Railroad. The cabin sits at approximately 8600 ft., is south facing, adorned with a lot of glass, great natural light and is passive solar. It is located off a county dirt road, providing easy winter access, situated in a lovely riparian valley, surrounded by Boulder County Open Space and the Roosevelt National Forest. We remolded this historic cabin in the late 1990's, but not without first falling in love with the wonderful character and imperfections of this turn of the century structure. We purposely kept what we could, like the original hardwood floor, and took great care to salvage and recycle as much of the original, weathered materials, and then integrated them back into our home. Though 100 years old, our cabin offers the comfort of all the modern amenities, while preserving it's rustic charm in a uniquely, eclectic style. Reclaimed, hand hewn timbers accent the the cabin exterior, the master bedroom, and the one of a kind, rustic, hand poured bathroom. Hammered metal details and homemade doors add a wonderful, hand made touch throughout. Furnishings and decorations artistically blend textures from around the globe, as well as from local artisans, all of which enhance the uniqueness of your stay. Our cabin is the ideal location for a romantic getaway, as well as a wonderful place to escape the summer heat or the hustle and bustle of the city. Relax and rejuvenate in the magic of our home and the clean Rocky Mountain air. Sit on your front porch while drinking your morning coffee. Soak in the sunshine viewing the native mountain wildflowers and listen to the melodic flowing stream along with the chirping chorus of the ubiquitous hummingbird and the song of the native mountain birds. For the history buff, the valley in which our cabin sits, is steeped in mining history Our cabin specifically, is the gateway house before entering the New Cardinal historic mill site, which in its heyday, was one of the largest gold mines in the area. Across the road is a cute, well maintained cabin, that was the New Cardinal brothel, in the early 1900's. The remnants of the Switzerland Trail Railroad is only steps from your door, This, historic railroad grade offers a network of hiking, mountain biking and in the winter, cross country skiing trails right out your door. The extensive Nederland mountain biking trail systems are also accessed from your doorstep. Be at the Eldora Ski Resort, which offers downhill skiing, snowboarding and nordic skiing in only 10 minutes. For the outdoor enthusiast, not only is there hiking, mountain bike riding and cross country skiing out your door, but just a few miles away in Boulder Canyon there is rock climbing, swimming, kayaking and fly fishing. The high alpine peaks of the Indian Peak Wilderness Area are easily accessed and only a short distance away. If you prefer a scenic mountain drive, or a spectacular road bike ride, the Peak to Peak Highway is two miles from our cabin, taking you to Rocky Mountain National Park to the north, or to the casinos of Black Hawk, and Central City to the south. The progressive town of Boulder itself is 17 miles down the canyon road, and offers a large variety of shopping, restaurants and the famous Pearl Street Mall.

This cabin is a wonderful place to stay. It is private, unique, & very cozy. My husband and I enjoyed this secluded location because it was close to Eldora Ski Resort & many local trailheads. The communication with the property manager was also easy, fast, & efficient. I definitely recommend this place!

Stayed over winter break and enjoyed the quiet and beauty. Did some skiing up in the hills nearby and hiked in the park. Great mountain get away cabin. The wood stove keeps it cozy and there was plenty of wood, blankets, kitchen supplies and games.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in Nederland CO, skiing at Eldora. The cabin was perfect to unwind after skiing and it was an wonderful get away to de-stress before the Holiday season.
We are already to return to this amazingly comfy cabin.

We were pleasantly surprised at how this property was even more charming then our impression from its listing. Roxanne is very communicative and answered all of our questions before arrival. The amenities provided, especially the cooking equipment was wonderful. We were able to prepare several wonderful holiday meals in the well equiped kitchen.
Our family loved this cozy cabin and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a mountain escape in lovely,quirky, Nederland.

The place was great. We enjoyed the seclusive area and perfect for hiking and walking. It’s so close to Nederland and easy to get to but you seem you are miles away from everything.

This was truly a magical mountain getaway! My only regret is that we were not there longer! The cabin/house is rustic yet updated (stainless steel appliances, running water, gas stove, hot water heater, furnace). We felt like we were really in the mountains away from the masses. There are other cabins nearby but we never heard a peep out of them.
This was my birthday weekend and every year we go somewhere in the mountains to relax and enjoy ourselves. This was, by far, the best experience we've had! It was so quiet that we heard a hawk flapping it's wings as it flew through the sky. When looking out the floor to ceiling windows, we were enchanted with the richness of the pine forest in front of us. It snowed about 10-12 inches over the weekend, which made it even more magical!
This was a beautiful, well-loved home that I wholeheartedly recommend to others who want to escape to the solitude of the Colorado Rockies! We will be back next year for a longer stay. And, we are thinking about a summer trip!

Our stay at the "Magical Mountain Getaway" was an enchanting experience that far exceeded our expectations. As we stepped into the cabin, we were transported back in time to the 1800s, courtesy of the meticulously restored interior, which pays homage to its historic Mill site roots. The pictures truly cannot capture the beauty and charm of this place.
As parents, it was a joy to have our children join us and share in the magic. We spent countless hours on the multiple decks, basking in the tranquility of the mountains. Our reading sessions were often accompanied by the mesmerizing dance of a dozen tame hummingbirds hovering around the feeder, a sight that became a favorite pastime during our stay.
Despite its rustic charm, the cabin boasts all the modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay without compromising on the authentic experience.
And Nederland? What a delightful town! Quirky, fun, and brimming with activities - it was the cherry on top of our memorable stay.
To anyone looking for an unforgettable mountain retreat: do yourself a favor and book the "Magical Mountain Getaway". You won't regret it.

This cabin was everything its said it would be and more. It is truly magical. Very clean (spotless), organized, very detail oriented and has everything you need. Like the description says the cabin is one of kind. The integration of old pieces of the baggage station with the theme and style of the cabin really make it unique.
The location is breathtaking. You sit in a valley with mountains all around you and you hear nothing but the cool breeze, trees moving in the wind and the other house guests the various hummingbirds that are all over the cabin area. Lots of mule deer, chipmunks, rabbits and squirrels around as well. You wouldn't know it but if you want to get out Nederland is only about 2 to 3 miles away for some really good food and shopping.
The host Roxanne was excellent. Very, very reliable and quick to answer any questions. If I texted or called she was there.
Again, when we go back to Colorado I don't have to look anywhere else to stay. We are going here.

The cabin exceeded my expectations! It was very clean and comfortable. Perfect for my husband and I, our 19-year-old daughter, and our dog. It was easy to get to. Far enough away to escape the world, but close enough to Nederland and even Boulder to enjoy the conveniences of society. The cabin itself is truly magical. We fell in love with its rustic quirkiness. We were entertained by the hummingbirds (we filled the feeder twice!) and even had a moose come right up to the deck. If you are looking for a mountain retreat, look no further. This is the perfect one!

We had such a great stay! The cabin is even more than the pictures show! The deck was beyond relaxing to sit and have coffee! Meals in the bay window, were lovely! Fully stocked kitchen, and so much ambiance!

Firstly, the drive between Boulder and Nederland is absolutely gorgeous as it passes through the national forest and follows a stream all the way down. The town of Nederland is quaint and friendly. The views from the cabin are stunning in every direction. The combination of snow and the cast iron fireplace was magical. The cabin was spacious and clean. Checkin process and communication were simple. 10/10, would recommend.

We had a great stay at this cabin. The view is fantastic and you're away from town, but only a short drive to it if you forget anything. The exposed beams and reclaimed lumber give a great rustic feel. We're looking forward to making another trip up.

This is a great location, exactly what we were looking for, for the weekend. Great balance of solitude and proximity to the town center and activities. House was wonderful, great open layout with amazing views and lots of natural light. Definitely recommend for a romantic getaway or a family adventure in the mountains. Roxanne was an excellent host, very responsive and helpful throughout the whole visit!

We had an amazing time at this cabin! A beautiful picturesque setting just minutes from downtown Nederland. Super easy to get to Eldora ski resort and plenty of other hikes and activities nearby. The historic cabin is so cozy and has all the amenities you could want. Roxanne was a great host, very helpful and quick to respond. If you're considering booking this spot, do it - you will not be disappointed.

This property was the perfect quiet retreat for snowy winters nights! Quiet and peaceful. The house is great and it was immaculately clean. Cozy overall, great appointed kitchen, nice place to enjoy quiet evenings and peaceful mornings. Will definitely return.

We stayed here with our two kiddos and had a blast. We checked out the local restaurants, got a sled and went sledding on the side road next door, did some snow shoeing, and checked out the local library. The library has DVDs to check out plus lots of kids toys. Over all great stay, would stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this enchanting cabin. It is really well-decorated and appointed. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, bath and bedrooms. Roxanne was super communicative and eager to make our stay comfortable. It's about a 10 minute drive to Eldora Ski Resort and 5 minutes to town. We would 100% recommend this rental.

Visited for a long weekend with my husband and our two dogs. The cabin was beautifully decorated and fully stocked with anything you might need. Plenty of firewood provided for the wood stove. Very good shower pressure and never ran out of hot water. Just be aware a section of the back deck/yard is unfenced over a large drop off, so if your dogs are overly curious you’ll need to keep them leashes outside. Super close to town and dog friendly trails for walking.

Great location just minutes from downtown Nederland. This is a very interesting nicely remodeled historic home with fun decor. Fully stocked kitchen was great for our family Thanksgiving dinner! Highly recommend this cabin.

So happy with our choice to stay here! It was the perfect location between Boulder and Estes Park, secluded enough to feel private but still very close to town and very easy to locate at night! We were fortunate enough to see a whole family of moose off the back deck, I wish I could include pictures! The house was so unique and cozy, I think my favorite room was actually the bathroom…it felt like being in a cozy cave! We were worried about having cell service since we had kids back home staying with a sitter, but the Wi-Fi worked fine for us to make calls and send texts. The weather was perfect so we really didn’t need heat or air, but it was nice to know we had that wood-burning stove if we needed it. We didn’t cook while we were there but the kitchen looked to have had everything we would’ve needed. There was a storm one night that took out the power, it was around the time we went to bed so it wasn’t a big deal but we did try locating lights or candles and didn’t have much luck. I mentioned it to the host and she did say she would make sure to get that, she was very responsive throughout our stay. Other than that no complaints at all it was a great stay I would definitely love to go back!
It was also nice to have the washer and dryer they’re in the bathroom so our last day as we were getting showered and ready to leave I was able to wash all our laundry and not have to come home to dirty clothes! One thing to keep in mind it wasn’t a big deal for us, but if we were staying with other family there is only one bathroom, and it’s across the house from the downstairs bathroom, so for upstairs guests you would have to come downstairs to use the restroom, which wasn’t a problem for us but some thing to keep in mind if that matters to you! Again, we loved our stay, and appreciated all the unique features of the house, we don’t get away often (first time in 13 years!) and we loved every bit of it!

We truly enjoyed the historic significance yet comfy feel of the home. The decor was rustic and enjoyable with an unique layout. The location was isolated enough to feel country-like and the views from the spacious deck were majestic and rewarding. We looked forward to the fresh mountain air every day!
