About this cottage rental

Rates vary by date please click on rate tab above for complete information Relax in this cozy small 2 bedroom cottage, nestled on a 575 wooded acre preserve with a rushing native trout stream flowing through the property and a series of mini water falls with a huge cool soothing swimming hole. There is an abundance of wildlife, an exceptionally pristine natural wooded landscape. Perfect for a quiet romantic getaway, only 75 miles away from New York City. Entering the driveway, one begins a slow descent into the relaxed, other-worldly aura of the peaceful, bucolic and mysterious Dwarfskill Glen, traveling half a mile before reaching the cottage, the four-bedroom vintage main lodge (VRBO # 414465) and a small one-room cabin (VRBO#: 445407). From the top of the driveway, one can see a far ridge, which is part of the Dwarfskill Preserve Property. This building is one of three rental properties at the Dwarfskill Preserve, which include a 4 BR Lodge, 2BR Cottage and 1Rm Cabin. The buildings are spaced around a large circle at the end of a 1/2 mile driveway. The Lodge faces the Dwarfskill Creek and its screen porch and deck cannot be seen from the other two buildings; the Cottage faces a meadow, similarly private. The Cabin sits between the other two buildings, at the beginning of the trail to the waterfall on the 575 acre property. The only other habitable structure on the property is the Caretaker's Barn, halfway up the driveway, which is not available for short-term rental. The open combined kitchen, dining and living area in the cottage is all knotty pine with wood floors, ceiling fan, cathedral ceiling with French doors leading to a large screened in porch overlooking the meadow, with a picnic table, charcoal grill, abutting the forest. Two small bedrooms, each with queen size beds. Comfortable furniture, gas stove and kitchen stocked with necessary dishes, cookware and spices. Immaculately clean, with quality bed and bath linens. Window Air Condition Unit in the main bedroom. The Dwarfskill creek is just down a path through the woods; it can be heard babbling through the dense hemlock and pine forest as it rushes downstream to Split Rock Falls (ten minute walk from the cottage). More than a mile of the Dwarfskill, which is a naturally-reproducing trout stream, runs through the property. The cabin is located six miles from Milford, PA, which Atlantic Magazine once called “the prettiest county seat in America”; three-quarters of the village is in a National Historic District and it galleries, antiques, coffee shops, boutiques and specialty shopping. Heritage attractions include Grey Towers (Richard Morris Hunt-designed 19th c. stone mansion), The Columns Museum (featuring the blood-stained Lincoln flag, which cushioned the President's head moments after he was shot) and the Hotel Fauchere/Relais & Chateau (see website at hotelfauchere) with its three restaurants, patisserie, day spa, vintage menu collection and permanent exhibit of Hudson River School paintings.

We wanted a place with as little interaction with people as possible. There’s a town not too far if socializing is your thing but for us, it was about campfire, grilling, and exploring. The creek is great view and can follow it in either direction to see it in its natural condition. Just be wary that the terrain as is not optimal for people with movement difficulty or young children. We was always alert for the possibility of a black bear but did not notice any. The clean air, lush green, wind rustles, creek water, and aves animals set a nice atmosphere. Overall we had a great time and the wife didn’t want to go back home.

Great! Listing isn't kidding when it says isolated so if that's what your looking for, this place is perfect. Also, the internet held up for the two of us well. Hope to be back again

My son and I loved being in a 600-acre preserve with a series of wild, utterly remote waterfalls. The cottage we rented was perfect for us--pine walls, ceiling, and floors, a kitchen and bathroom with all the necessaries, the best in comfortable beds. We especially appreciated the works of art on the wall. The "Reliquariarum," for example, is a stunning, thoughtful-provoking, amazing piece, a far cry from the cloying cutsie decorations often found in these remote cabins.

My friends and I stayed at this Cabin for 5 nights. The surroundings are serene, rugged and beautiful. There is a creek nearby that you can hear from the cabin. The cabin is clean with just what you need for a relaxing stay. There is a huge lawn with a fire pit, Adirondack chairs and a charcoal grill. We enjoyed a campfire every night. There are a mosquitos and flies so be prepared with a repellent.
