About this house rental
'512 Beach House' is a modern, 3 bedroom/2.5 bath, beachfront home with an open floor plan, too many windows to count, and 3 large balconies. The house spreads out across 2 beachfront lots and has 360 degree views of beach and wetlands. The ocean can be seen from every room in the house. As one of our guests said, "Pictures don't do this house justice."
The first floor is a completely open floor plan, perfect for entertaining family and friends. The house is uncluttered and open, allowing for everyone to spread out and find their perfect spot to relax (Personally, I recommend the screen porch). You will enjoy 360 degree views of beach and bay. The house boasts a large modern kitchen with island seating. The kitchen is open to the dining and living areas. There is a large screened in porch off the kitchen with a dining table and couch. It truly is the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee, listen to the ocean, and watch the pelicans fly over the house.
Upstairs you will find 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The primary bedroom has a king size bed, ensuite bathroom, and large private balcony. As with all the bedrooms, you will enjoy unobstructed ocean views. The guest room also has a king size bed and shares a bathroom with the bunk room. The bunk room has 2 bunk beds (4 twin beds) and a twin daybed that can be pulled out into a king size bed. The bottom bunks are adult tested and approved. To ensure guest comfort, I do not recommend the top bunks for adult guests. The guest room and bunkroom also have doors opening out to their own shared balcony.
'512 Beach House' is conveniently located only minutes from the historic town of Matagorda. Matagorda is a hidden gem that offers visitors many activities, including fishing, bird watching, beachcombing, shelling, swimming, surfing, kayaking, and stargazing. Visitors will find that Matagorda is a much more quiet, natural place than most of the Texas coast.
The house is very spacious and we definitely understand the temptation to invite all your friends to enjoy, but we do have to maintain a strict 8 person maximum on the property at any time. We do not allow parties or gatherings that would have additional persons on property without prior approval in writing. We require a guest registration of names and ages for all guests and a photo ID for guest on the reservation.
You will find that '512 Beach House' is beautifully and completely furnished to ensure that your stay is a comfortable and unforgettable.

We loved our stay at Abbey’s beach house! It was absolutely perfect for 2 couples looking to escape to the shore for a long weekend. The main floor is spacious and clean with huge windows and a wraparound balcony. Upstairs the rooms have their own balconies facing the ocean and each shower has a window to the beach. The kitchen is well appointed and easy to cook in. Getting to the beach there are 2 options: trekking over the dunes or driving to the public entrance just at the end of the road. Either way was super easy. We will definitely be back!

Great beachfront location. Easy walk down to the beach. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Comfortable beds. Will book again when we return to Matagorda.

I booked this property for my husband and our 3 kids. Our goal was to take our off-road vehicles to the beach for the weekend. He drove his truck and towed our 3 off-road vehicles. My friend who was staying a few doors down drove her and I down there in her car. My friend and I arrived an hour before check in. Some places allow you to come in a bit early. This home does not. We left to have dinner. When my husband arrived, we all went to the beach. We arrived back around 9pm. I got a call from an unknown number and didn’t answer. It was Abbey, the owner, telling me there were several cars there and that extra people needed to leave or we would all be removed from the property and I wouldn’t get my deposit back. I was shocked because it was just my family and my friend that was staying down the road. We just got back from the beach. I texted her to let her know it was my girlfriend and she was leaving and that no one else was there. She says that they saw 5 vehicles and that they need to leave ASAP. I told her that I had rented several homes on the island and that ours was a meet up before we go to the beach. She said no one wise could be in the home, using her kitchen or toilets, due to wear and tear and that it was against the contract. I explained we were meeting outside before going to the beach. All seemed fine at that point. Then at 10pm, someone knocks on the door. He answers and there is a man explaining he is the caretaker of the home and was asking who all was in the home. My husband, obviously upset, explains that it’s 10pm and those vehicles belong to us. They are off-road vehicles that were pulled on the trailer. All was well after they spoke until his wife came charging up the steps asking who all was in the home. She asked a couple of times and her husband kept telling her it was fine and that we were good.
My husband asked her if she was the one earlier flashing the flashlight in their face when they were unloading. She didn’t answer. The whole encounter was uncomfortable and we felt quite violated. On top of that, you have to provide your own toiletries and trash bags. There are really no amenities. I was surprised by that especially after spending that much on the rate. So, despite being watched and feeling unwelcome, we had to provide everything. Just wasn’t worth it. I also cleaned the home before we left, despite paying a cleaning fee to ensure everything was good.
