About this house rental

Nestled in Greater Madawaska, this lovely house for $222 per night is a great option for your next trip. Modern rustic designed home with a slight masculine feel featuring open concept and cathedral pine ceilings with custom carpentry throughout. This home is set on a flat landscape with the backdrop of the Madawaska River and a small creek running through the side of the property. With direct access to the waterfront, there is a dock and little to no weeds in the swimming area off the end of the dock. The shore gradually slopes until the end of the dock were it drops off, making it great for both kids and adults to enjoy. Fishing is great as most boats stay within the two connecting lakes. Fish from the dock or take a kayak out around the corner to a local fishing hole! Enjoy our fire pit down by the water or the sunset from the Adirondack chairs on the porch. 2023 Season- Booking Friday-Friday

This is our second time staying here. The cottage is spacious in a nice setting by a small river. We needed to use the portable air-conditioner due to the high temperature this long weekend. We enjoyed the 3 + 1 kayaks and a well-maintained play structure for the little ones. The fireplace in front of the house was removed, probably due to forest fire hazard this year. The drives from our homes were long esp. for a long weekend stay this year vs. a week long stay last year. Drawbacks this year included our unawareness of a dishwasher that deteches from the base making loading and unloading dishes a little challenging. We also had to boil water in pots as the electric kettle was out of commission. We enjoyed our stay afterall.

This cottage was very clean, well laid out, and had everything we needed: comfortable beds, big sturdy table, lots of dishes; board games; fans in every room for fresh air. The river entry is easy for canoes & kayaks to enter and exit and store, and also clean & easy for little kids to wade around. During the week was quiet, and we felt like we had the river to ourselves. Weekend was busier, but the motor boats were pretty respectful and slowed down around us. Thanks again!!

I'm not one for bad reviews. I normally tend to stay quiet instead of saying either bad things or experiences. If someone asked to 'how to improve the property' then I would gladly tell them in a nice way. However, here we go: Arrival - Power out, Couldn't get a hold of owner for 6hrs. Place looks nice and it is. But when arriving, the bugs were pretty bad and we opened the front door and there was a can of bug spray beside Wi-Fi poster. I was thinking, "that's nice of them to leave for us" as I picked it up we found it was empty. Grr. Then we noticed the back door doesn't actually lock due to portable air conditioner. So not that it would happen but if we decided to bring the family for a hike or site seeing, one could rob us. Grr Then the soap dispensers in both washrooms were empty. Grr And half a roll of toilet paper on roll dispenser. With no more in sight. Double Grr. The salt and pepper were empty. If propane is empty then we need to get more? Grr And there were no blinds in the master ground level bedroom. You can totally see everything from outside gallery and through the Livingroom/dining room glass fireplace. It's like you're in a fishbowl. Little things that are expected at this price range. The bed broke off frame when we first time sat on it. Noticing that a bed frame post was hidden off to one corner beside a old smelly diapers(missed in the last cleaning,, or no cleaning at all). This bed frame post is for holding the middle of the bed but instead the owners put a futon in place. This issue wasn't just on this bed but others beds in the house as well. We had to lift all the beds up (heavy, my back still hurts and late at night after a long day of travelling. Grrr) and lifting bed frame, seeing the damage has happened previously we propped up the bed frame to make level with using the bed post so my wife and myself could get a good night sleep. Once trip was over: We spoke to the owner about this issue and I explained that this IS a Previous Issue and that the futons under the bed that the owners had put there had dismantled the bed frame post that holds up the bed. By doing this, causes increased weight that the sides of the bed will not hold this weight. Currently, owner 'tried' to charge us $500 for their mistake and a continuing mistake. Beware and be careful of this fraudulent owner. As this is not a question but an issue, sadly, someone else might face in the coming weeks of summer 2022. CB summer of 2022

This 4-bedroom 2-bathroom cottage is spacious, river front, on a large green lawn with a well designed play structured for kids. We enjoyed cruising the clam river in front on their kayaks. The scenery is particularly beautiful at sunset. We also enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the two fire pits sitting on the muskoka chairs. The portable air-conditioning unit was loud but it did a good job cooling off the house. The only suggestion is to find a way to lock the patio door for security reason. The hosts, Jenny and Bob, were extra friendly. Jenny even welcomed us with sweet strawberries from her farm. They were quick to respond to getting rid of a wasp nest in the play structure. All our messages were responded to promptly. Our 3-generation family of 9 enjoyed the 6 days staying there. We are already talking about returning next summer. Thanks, Jenny and Bob.

Thank you for sharing your piece of the Madawaska Valley with us! Every summer we bring our family together for a week - we found Martha’s Landing to be spacious, clean, well equipped and child friendly! The cottage is well stocked with games and equipment for the river. Our grandchildren enjoyed the play structure, yard for catch, swimming, fishing but especially kayaking. As grandparents we appreciated the comfortable distance between cottage and waterfront - so safety was never a concern. Adults enjoyed the peaceful setting and calm waterfront. A very enjoyable, relaxing week for all! Definitely hope to return. We found Jenny to be an exceptional host; very accommodating, friendly and prompt in her communication.
