Beautiful hotel, nice touches in the rooms. Many comfortable books to relax in throughout the hotel. Absolutely the best

Paid a premium to be by the river...

Good location and spectacular river views. The staff in the main were lovely and very accomodating.

We had an unfortunate experience. We checked into our river front room on the 4th floor. The room was very small for what we paid €1300 for 3 nights, and when we first entered we were told by the staff member that the aircon was a bit noisy and not to turn it up. I tried to turn it off but it wouldn't and the room got very cold and it was noisy even when it was off. I called the reception twice and no one came to look at the issue or call me back. I went to the reception and I was told there was no issue and it would turn off at 9pm. I said I couldn't sleep in the room that noisy and if that was the case, I'd like to change rooms or hotels - the response was you need to pick that up with booking.com. I was furious. I asked for the manager but was told there was no manager on duty. I waited until after 9pm and there was no change in the air con. At this point, I returned to the reception and complained to a much more helpful and customer focused employee who moved us to a different room and the difference was immediate. No noise from the air con and you could turn it off. However, the noise from the square late at night disrupted our sleep. Also, I fell down the stairs on the last night coming from the bathroom back into the bedroom which is really dangerous for someone who is infirm or elderly. Breakfast was OK, but just a lot of factory / mass produced pastries. Coffee was terrible.

Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. Also want to say how helpful Hugo was to us.

The location was outstanding.

The bathroom. It was a death trap. Tub too high to safely step into. Tub floor a complete slip & fall hazard. No discernible tape in the bottom of the tub. No handles on the inside of the tub/shower. Absolutely. Unsafe. I went three days without a shower.

It’s the perfect hotel for a short or long vacation in Porto.

Beautifully appointed, very clean. Integration of the modern & old parts of the hotel were done exceptionally well. Outside bars perfect to escape the crowds and people watch. Centrally located for sightseeing

A little disappointing

location was excellent

our room was expensive and we expected it to be light and spacious but it was up an additional small flight of stairs and was rather small. in addition there was a strange, unpleasant smell in the bathroom which necessitated us always leaving the door from the small balcony open, to aerate the room. We did tell the front desk but they seemed unconcerned.

Great location, great room!

Location on ribeira ideal. Beautiful views of the Douro from our room.

Service deficient. Staff seemed young and inexperienced. Made a dinner reservation that the restaurant did not have when we went to dine.

Car Parking a struggle for someone with movement issues. I made the massive effort to walk up to the car park only to see a pestana courtesy bus pulling away. Why was I not aware.

Welcoming staff, great location, nice facilities, walking distance to everything.

We upgraded to a room overlooking the river, was worth the upgrade. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, so much choice, loved the wine cellar with Port, Bubbles and charcuterie. Location was perfect, in the middle of all the action.

would have liked access to the room upgrade prior to the trip.

Delightful

it was charming, not too big, friendly staff and a great location. Room and bathroom were very good.

Room lighting was a bit murky, and because of the central location the noise outside permeated the building.

Location could not be beat. Gorgeous rooms with all the amenities. The hotel is right on the water and there is a lovely cafe in front.

Perfect Hotel

Couldn't be in a better location. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff friendly and welcoming, from the receptionist, waiters, and cleaners. Great room with a fridge, and when you close the windows, you can't hear a thing from outside. Massive bed too!

Internet is the worse ones can have it. (they pay for a few GB so it is always on &off. If you need to work, be far away of the Pestana Vintage Porto. The ceiling of the bathroom was full of mold, tiles of the bathroom was grimy, loud and bad music at the breakfast room, lot of noise in front of the hotel (because of the restaurants along the river). Windows are not There is no friendly place to sit, not really any sitting room, very bad organized and decorated. In case they pretend to be chic, switch the music for a loung or piano music. The only person who was really friendly and helpful was Mr.João the concierge.

Nice hotel in a brilliant location for exploring Porto and enjoying happy quayside chaos

Brilliant location within the pedestrian zone of the waterfront, but quiet.

Staff could be more clued in on what they have to offer and better trained in the basics. This is a post Covid problem for every hotel and some time invested in training of the new/younger staff would pay dividends!

Warm, well-taken care of, beautiful beautiful place. Worth a return trip.

The location is excellent. It’s right there at the heart of the Ribiera, yet quiet once you close the windows. The view of the monastery and the Ribiera at night was peaceful and lovely. The facilities are immaculate. Breakfast was excellent. They serve the best Port wine, champagne and fruit juices at breakfast. The cereal bar, fruits and yes, sheep cheese and fresh honey. Not to mention the Portuguese custards. Sandro gave the best massage in the utmost respectful manner. The young man who met us when we checked in (2/4/2023) and Barbara were a delight.

Busy hotel full of tour groups and overwhelmed staff. Be careful of room category and photos online.

Amazing location although hard to access by taxi not licensed to travel through barrier. Very good breakfast in hotel basement (not scenic) but also very crowded. Staff graciously allowed us early arrival and were helpful with planning our trip through Porto and storing luggage. We had upgraded our rooms before arrival and staff ensured we ended up with the beautiful terraced rooms that we thought we had booked, even though one of them took four hours to prepare after we had checked in. Cute touches like bags of candy for the children in the room and welcome notes which was a nice treat.

TOO CROWDED, TOO LITTLE STAFF - Very busy hotel used seemingly a lot by large groups of travellers. We were always waiting in line at reception, there were not enough umbrellas (it was pouring). Disappointed that the 10 postcards we left with reception (already with stamps) did not make it to any of the destinations. BEWARE OF ROOM CATEGORY - The room photos that you see online (charming, large windows) are only the top class of room which are really the only ones worth booking. The other rooms feel like the Holiday Inn, especially the ones on the top floor with a very small window. We thought we would be in a very beautiful series of old buildings, but the inside renovation made the hallways and some of the rooms devoid of character. We had a lot of choice because it was low season and I wouldn't book this hotel again.
