The staff was the best part of the experience. I forgot my bag in the Didi and Amy and Jocelyn made sure that I got it back. Without their assistance and kindness, our trip would have been very different. Elsa, Nancy and the others (hard to mention everyone) also made sure we always had what we needed.
The breakfast was super tasty. We didn't plan to order it yet we ended up ordering almost everyday. In terms of location, it is also very convenient. It's next to Shichahai, and the walk to the nearest subway stations is very pleasant.
Overall, I would totally recommend it. You get to experience a bit of Chinese traditional culture with their puppet shadow show and to be around a hutong area. We stayed for 15 days and yet we look forward to staying here again.

The hotel combines local culture, spirit, and craftsmanship. Staying in an old alle with a beatiful riverside walk, full of puds and restaurants.
(5 stars) Special thanks to the staff, Yan (欣欣), Amy (妹妹), Joli and Tom. Their friendly smiles made me feel warm welcoed. The shadow puppet show by Master Mao (毛师傅) was interesting, and he had a very beautiful voice while singing.
Bed a bit too hard.

The location and the staff are excellent. Really enjoy the art performance show.
The bed is too hard and no side walk way. Need to climb in and out of the bed all the time. The extractor fan in the bathroom is very noisy.

The hotel common areas and dining room were beautifully decorated and appointed, tasteful with beautiful art. Good location close to beautiful lake and park. Staff were friendly and helpful although a bit too solicitous at times. Sad to miss the shadow puppet show!
The room itself was the smallest room we've ever stayed, we could not even walk around the mattress. There was no actual bed, only a mattress on a platform. Barely room to open your suitcase. Room needs a good though cleaning and coat of white paint. Shower door leaked water onto the floor.
