Vacation at the Seaside
Prime location; just a few minutes walk from Buccoo Beach. The view of the beach from the property is lovely, even from the lower patio (the view upstairs is even better). Whilst the units are spacious and comfortable, when we were on the property, we spent a great deal of time in the communal kitchen and living space, as I prefer to cook most of our meals and the facilities to do so we're great and also because the areas felt SO homey. We also spent quite a bit of time outdoors on our patio and the communal patio upstairs, which has a mini library (my children made food use of it). You don't need to go outdoors to hear the waves crashing on the shore, but combining the audio WITH the visual can't be beat! Great spot if you plan on attending 'Sunday School;' no, it isn't Church for children, but more like a neighborhood party, with various food vendors, music, live steel pan performances + good vibes. Sunday evenings can get quite loud because of Sunday School and the music can play until late, BUT, it didn't keep ANY of my children awake once we were ready to settle in for the night. The units, communal areas + gardens are well tended to. The staff are AMAZING! I'd say Ms. Penny is the manager of the property; overseeing bookings, cleaning the rooms, laundry services, arranging meals if needed, transportation arrangements + ensuring guest needs in general are taken care of. A very hard worker + warm soul. Chris, I'd say, is the handyman of the property, ensuring things are in working order, tending to the gardens, preparing DELICIOUS meals upon request, child whisperer (all 3 of my children LOVE Chris and affectionately refer to him as 'Mr. Chris) + I'm sure he does even more than this, but this is just what I witnessed whilst on the property. He is a very kind + giving person and ensured my children also had a lovely experience.
The beds are decent, but aren't the MOST comfortable. Saying that, they didn't negatively impact our quality of sleep. Be mindful of keeping food items in your room, because of ants. I mainly kept everything in the communal kitchen, but somehow, ants still found us. I don't like chemical bug sprays, so we just accepted them-obviously it wasn't an enormous amount, as I would have drawn the line there😊 We also only ate in the communal area, which is something I likely would have done anyway, but definitely enforced to ensure there was no evidence of food in the room. Growing up on an island, I'm used to seeing this sort of thing-especially when the weather is warmer. If you're like me and don't like chemical sprays, just pack some diatomaceous earth or essential oils like peppermint, tea tree, citronella or lavender.
